Great place.Mainly aimed toward the 60+ age group although we are in our 40's we thoroughly enjoyed this relaxing holiday.Penty of reasonably priced resaurants and a 24 hour casino if you like that sort of thing.Lake Bled is beautiful and make sure you go on a gondolar to the island(12 euros) ring the bell and make a wish(3 euros)The castle is lovely to although you may need oxygen when you get there as its a very steep climb.

The Pension Berc (Pension beinng Slovenian for B&B)was lovely.A beautiful family run small hotel just 2 mins walk from the centre of Bled.Breakfast was a buffet generally aimed towards the Germans although most of the people we met there were British. This is the first hotel we have come across that has an honesty bar,you just tell them at the end of your stay what you have taken from the bar and you settle up then!!very trusting.Bled is absolutly stunning. If you want nightclubs etc you are looking at the wrong resort as everyone seemed to be in bed by 10 and the bars and restaurants empty but as there are so many walks and trips to go on your ready to collaps by then anyway.try walking to the Vintar gorge( a full days walk),walk around the lake(we strolled around stopping off for coffee, lunch, ice creams,Bled cake which is a must and it took us about 4 hours.Beautiful country, lovely people, definatly go back to Slovenia and the Berc too.For a nice meal try the Pension Mayer next door, lovely sea bass!

Excellent hotel in stunning location. Staff friendly and helpful, especially Igor restaurant manager. Rooms excellent with stunning views. Only downside is that you are allocated a shared table for the whole of your stay. This would be OK if you knew in advance which we didn't, and we were celebrating our anniversary and wanted some privacy, so we upgraded to the 'al a carte' restaurant for the night. This resort isn't the place to go if you want to laze around in the sun, there is just too much to do. Fantastic walks, hike to the waterfall, ride in the cable car, paragliding, mountain biking, rafting, horseriding and days out to other beautifull areas. A week just wasn't long enough!

Check out the Maxmister bar oposite the hotel. Youri the owner does a fantastic Myths and Legends walk around the resort with schnapps tasting back at the bar! He is a great guy very knowlegable and good fun. Take some warm clothes as it gets very cool in the evening and most bars have outside seating.

All in all my best ever holiday, weather wasn't always great but the memories made and people we met will last a lifetime, have no hesitation in recommendning this hotel and resort.

The hotel is quaint, friendly and well-positioned about 500 metres from the hotel Jezero where our evening meal was taken. We had the superior room which was a studio style room on the top floor with a large balcony overlooking the hills opposite. The owner (Mr Gasperin) is friendy and accommodating. The hotel was quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was hearty; cheese, bread, meat, yoghurt, cereal, fruit, cake etc. There is a bus stop about 50 metres away with buses to Lake Bled, the capital city and a number of other destinations.

The resort is beautiful; the lake idyllic, the small number of bars and restaurants a welcome change from over-developed resorts packed with tourists. There are perhaps three restaurants and two small bars all of which were quiet and shared the relaxed and 'quiet' atmosphere of the village. There is a small supermarket where you can get your basics and a really helpful information centre.

Great walks to be had, as easy or difficult as you like. Round the lake and up the Slap Savica (waterfall), down to the next willage, up into the mountains or just pottering round part of the lake. The cable car ride (Vogel)is worth a go with amazing views from the top of the mountain and lots of walks on what are ski runs in the winter. Other trips offered by Thomson include; Llubljana, day in Austria, caves and castles, Venice day trip, Julian Alps, and Taste of Slovenia (wine region). We found the trips mostly excellent although the Austria trip was we felt overpriced.

Slovenia is gorgeous. A bus ride is a pleasure as you look out of the window and admire the views. Only dowside was the weather; extremely changeable so I would recommend waterproofs in case.A stunning, unspoiled and peaceful place. Highly recommended.Hope it remains the same.

Portoroz is a modern resort on the Adriatic, close to the border with Italy. Slovenia has only a very short coastline with unfortunately no natural sandy beaches, so the beach at Portoroz is man-made (which the brochures don't tell you) and a little walk from the hotel. It is a fairly lively resort but not unpleasantly so. It is popular with local visitors at the weekend but quietens down on weekdays. The Riviera Hotel is one of several sister hotels located opposite the sea, all of which are of a high standard and share swimming pools and other leisure facilities. There are 5-6 pools altogether, the ones at the Riviera Hotel being salt water. The sea is safe for bathing and very clean (as is everything else in Slovenia, wonderful!)

The buffet breakfast and evening meal are generous and excellent. It's a pleasant 45 minute walk into Piran which is a very attractive Venetian style village/town, or you can take the local bus for 1 euro. From Portoroz you can make an excursion or hire a car to go into Italy on one side and Croatia (Istrian peninsular) on the other. We thought Slovenia was much nicer though. The lakes and mountains are a couple of hours drive away and well worth a visit, with stunning scenery. We combined a week at Lake Bled with a week at Portoroz, and it was all most enjoyable. Slovenia is highly recommended!

This is a lovely hotel a few minutes' walk from the lakeside (downhill and uphill coming back, but not too exerting). It fully deserves 4* having well-decorated and comfortable rooms, very good facilities including a smallish covered pool with sunbeds outside. The excellent buffet breakfast caters for all tastes, and dinner is also very good with several choices of main courses and salad. The staff are most attentive and very friendly. We had a wonderful week here and there's plenty to do in the locality and surrounding areas. Crystal offer many excursions but we found it best to hire a car and explore the mountains and Lake Bohinj, which is far quieter than Lake Bled. The scenery is fabulous. We went to Ljubljana but weren't that impressed. However if you like walking and fresh air, this is the place for you!

This was our first trip to Slovenia and it was fantastic.

The country as a whole is beautiful, and the resort of Lake Bohinj in particular is spectacular. We stayed right by the lake, surrounded by the Julian Alps and the scenery has to be seen to be believed. The resort is primarily a 'walking/hiking/climbing' resort, but you don't have to be particularly fit - the lake walk (3-4 hours) is mainly on flat terrain, and there are other things to do - a gondola ride up one of the peaks, boat trips on the lake...and day trips to other locations - Lake Bled, Ljubljana, the Julian Alps or the Triglav National Park (both the latter highly recommened - but best in good weather!).

The hotel Jezero cannot be faulted - spotlessly clean, friendly staff, lovely rooms and an indoor swimming pool and gym for days when the weather isn't so great. Prices are reasonable too - a coffee is around a pound, and the cakes are well priced and delicious! This is not really a family resort, as there isn't much for children. There are not many places to eat, so half board is probably a good idea, and we were told that our hotel had the best food. It is also fairly quiet at night, as there aren't many places outside of hotels to have a drink.

For a relaxing, peaceful holiday with stunning scenery, Lake Bohinj really can't be beaten.

What a suprise this holiday was,not having been to Slovenia before we were a bit aprehensive.
The transfer from Ljublijana airport was only 1/2 hour.
The lake and countryside are stunning and clean.
The island and hilltop castle give the area a fairytail look and both are within easy reach of the vilage.
A leasurly walk round the lake takes 1and 1/2 hours, that's if you don't stop at a couple of cafe's on the way round.
This is not a place for the very young as it is very quiet and the only part where we saw any was on a campsite at the opposite end of the lake.

The hotel had been updated and is now In my view worthy of 5* status and huge inside. We had a lake view from our 10X8ft balcany which is a preffered side of the hotel for us, the rear looks over gardens and woods so more a matter of taste.
There are about 60 steps down to the main road, which was not busy during our stay, but there is an easier slope to walk down (past the only local supermarket, shops and cafes) .

The food was a buffet style breakfast (ie) as much as you could eat,we saw champagne on 2 occasions but decided coffee would do for us at that time in the morning!
The evening meal, again buffet style was a feast for the eyes so much so that we were sure that had put on some weight, but due to the six new pools of various types, indoor and outdoor which we used daily helped us to loose any.
The staff were very friendly and efficient.
The Crystal rep's 1 English + 1 Slovenian were helpfull and organised.
The Pension Mayer is a must forlunch,a stunning austrian style range of newish buildings, superb food and wine.
We are thinking of returning in 2006...

probably one of the best hotels in this resort. it has great facilities, lovely rooms, a superb spa and the staff are helpful and friendly. Pay extra for a lakeside view - it is worth it. The buffet breakfast was excellent, a huge choice, all well prepared. During my stay (May 2005) there were several conferences on at the hotel so be prepared to mix with business people during your stay.

Bled is beautiful: the scenery is stunning and for lovers of the outdoors it cannot be surpassed. If your up to it try the rafting, only a few minutes from Bled and a great way to spend a few hours. The instructors are very helpful and take good care of you.there a a few good restaurents in the resort and they dont vary that much - best to sample a few during lunch and if you fancy the menu return for dinner.

Highly recommended for a relaxing, enjoyable holiday. Only critisism is the lack of transport from Airport - taxi is best option but expensive.

The Hotel had undergone a major refit ansd should have been ready in July 2004.
It is now September 2004, and the hotel had informed all holiday companies of the delay.
Balkan Holidays had not informed any of its clients of the lacking hotel amenities.
Do we need to say any more of Balkan Holidays, honesty and reliabily towards keeping clients informed, take note!

First of all, this a picture post card country. Driving from Ljubjana airport to our resort close to the Croatioan border, every new turn on the very quiet highway brought a new and stunning vista.

The resort of Terme Catez comprises two 4* and one 3* hotels, an apartment village and a camping ground. The central attraction is the summer rivera - about two acres of swimming pools with slides etc. all fed by thermal waters so the water was constant at 29-32 degrees. Lots of different depth pools so suitable for kids of all ages. There's a fresh fruit stand, restaurant and snak bar so you could spend all day lounging there. If it rains, or you holiday in winter, there's the winter riviera, a massive internal complex of pools. There's also tennis, an in door sports and gymnasium complex where you can do everything from archery and badminton to ten-pin bowling and table tennis. Finally there is an extensive range wellness, health and beauty treatments many centering on the thermal waters. Access to the swimming aspects is free for residents of the hotels and apartment village.

We had a beuatiful, well equipped, two bedroom, two storey apartment with a rear patio area. There was enough room for up to 5 adults to move around in comfort, they were modern and clean. And it was not expensive. I believe the hotels are pretty competitive as well. The other facilities on site include several bars, a coffee and cake shop with terraces, and a handful of restaurants. There's an on-site supermarket which is adequate, but costs a bit more than the main supermarket on the edge of Brezice town. There is a casino on sight, and there is even a mini-casino for the kids. There are outside concerts several evenings a week.

You really need a car to appreciate the broader sights and sounds. Postojna caves were fantastic, Ljubjana quite medieval, Lake Bled stunning but a bit commercialised, Lake Bohinj simply stunning and the famous Lippizaner horses and Lipica beautiful. Eating out is inexpensive, dinner in a restaurant four 4 people (and my kids eat like adults) costs between £24-30 for a really big blow-out including beers and soft drinks.

Slovenia will appeal to families with children under 18 or to couples who now leave their kids at home. It is a very clean, safe and crime free environment and the Slovenian people really want you to love their country so are helpful at all times. It's definitely NOT suitable for the 18-30 crowd. But go soon, over the next 3/4 years as I'm sure mass tourism will change all that in a few years time. The resort has a web site with everything on it, so if you bung Terme Catez in your search engine it should point you to it. search
