We stayed at Sunset Manor for 3 weeks and had an absolutely fantastic time. We rented 2 apartments (my girlfriend and i and also my best friend and his wife) and were really well looked after.
During the day our time was spent mountain biking, walking, paragliding, and visiting the surrounding table top mountains and we spent the evenings mostly relaxing in the bar.
We found that all of the other guests were also really friendly and were that impressed by the whole family/community feeling that we decided we would write and let others know about Sunset Manor if the are thinking of staying in South Africa and are looking for a great value for money Bed and Breakfast or apartment to rent.
Here is the site from the guys there: www.sunset-manor.com - well worth a look to give you an idea although the site doesn't do the scenery any justice at all. It's much better live!

We stayed in a nicely furnished studio. The B&B also offers rooms with a shared bathroom. The B&B has a lovely little swimming pool, where you can relax after a long day of driving in the park.
The B&B is situated in the quiet town of Phalaborwa, just a mere 5 minutes from the Kruger National Park.

Recently stayed in Century City, Cape Town. Found ";Century City Apartments"; website whilst searching on the internet and was pleasantly surprised at what was on offer.
They have a range of about 30 luxury self catering apartments from 1 bedroom through to 3 bedroom penthouse suites at extremely affordable rates. Cut a long story short, I got in touch with Zeena (one of the directors) via email and can say I am so pleased we booked with them. They arranged the airport transfer, had a hire car dropped off at the apartment for our stay ( A must in Cape Town ) arranged all our tours and even a safari ( Did not know there is the big 5 just outside Cape Town ).
The hospitality, service and advice we received was second to none and the apartment was just to die for ( Indoor heated pool and spa in the block was a bonus as it gets quite nippy in the winter months ). King size bed, full kitchen, satellite tv, view of the canal and table mountain and all within walking distance of Canal Walk ( Apparently the largest shopping mall in the southern hemisphere ). We flew direct with BA and the departure and arrival times were great.
Cape Town airport is rather small, but very modern and quick to get through with UK passports. Jeremy, their tour operator was great and everything was exactly as we were told prior to departure. Patrick and Zeena only recently started this business and from what I can see, if they continue the way they are, they are going to be fully booked year round. If you want location convenience, very comfortable spacious accommodation and excellent service, book with them. Thank you for our wonderful stay. See you next year!!!

We spent 3 days here as part of a tour of South Africa. This hotel is out of the world. We stayed in the Palace of the Lost City, the ultimate in luxury. The food is excellent. The service is excellent. The staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. Lots to see and do in the complex where Sun City is. Crocodile sanctuary, water park, lake with watersports, casino, pubs and entertainment. Beautiful gardens and aviarys to view the most beautiful birds I have ever seen.
I would return to this hotel tomorrow without a doubt. A memory to last a life time.
Well what can I say. If your looking for somewhere to stay where you can see the big 5 and reside in excellent accomodation with very good food and friendly staff this is your place. Loved every second of it. Would recommend it to anyone

Beautifully appointed rooms - lovely views of the sea and table mountain, we actually stayed in a two bedroom, two bathroom apartment with patio and full sea view (although only booked twin room) Unfortunately the hotel does not cater very well for holiday makers, they cater more for the corporate events- there were several companies attending conferences whilst we were there - at one stage all the holiday makers were moved out for 2 days to another hotel due to overbooking of a large conference they were only told the night before they had to move. it was our last day and consequently there was no courtesy room available and no where to eat, as the dining room had been set up for the conference.
Despite its supposed 5* rating the food was bland and often cold. Buffet service was irratic with items often running out.
Nothing to do in the hotel in the evening - no entertainment and only a very small bar area - only seating approximately 40 people - the hotel holds 400 people.
3 swimming pools, one on the roof - very windy, another in the middle of the complex and one was situated outside the dining room which had full length windows and was not very conducsive to relaxing in a bathing costume when the dining room was constantly filled with business men staring out of the windows.
The hotel advertise a shuttle bus to the VandA but this is only a 7 seater mini and only runs hourly between 10am and 4pm.
As the hotel is isolated taxi fares add a considerable amount to the expenses - £30 return journey to the VandA. Car hire was not recommended due to car jacking incidents.
Wonderful Thai restaurant round the corner from the hotel, good food and friendly service and very reasonably priced.
Excellent golf course at Ronderbush, and a good links course within walking distance of the hotel.
Cape Town is wonderful, especially the cable car up Table Mountain and the VandA waterfront is great for shopping and eating, Canal Walk shopping area is a large complex but not worth visiting.
The invadoor Jeep safari meant an early start but a wonderful experience.

We returned to Phuza Moya for a second time, and once again cannot fault the location, accomodation, food or service. This private game reserve does not promise you sightings of the BIG 5, however you can take a day trip into Kruger Park if you can drag yourself away from the great time you are already having! Phillip the head ranger was fantastic, providing us with lots of interesting information, we even did one of our morning safaris on quad bikes! a great experience. Lovely pool, fantastic views and truly a great experience.
We will definitely return.

We stayed the weekend in the Cabanas Hotel in Sun City, which is a great plave, with lots to do. We went on safari whilst at Sun City too, i would recomend that.
We also drove through the KwaZulu Natal and down to Durban for 4 days and stayed in a place called Balito, the Hotel was called La Montagne, it was right on the beach. Durban itself has lots to do too, there is a new marine park, which when we were there wasn't quite finished but offers a good day out.
We seen a show in Gold Reef City...African Footprint, that was fantastic too well worth watching.
All in all South Africa offers great value for money, but sadly the crime rate does put people off visiting the country, but which is a shame as there are so many beautiful things to see and do and MOST of the people are very nice.
We returned to Lindsay Castle having stayed there in 2002 and were disappointed. The location cannot be faulted, the castle is situated on the beach! However the food provided was well below the standard I would expect. Unfortunately, we will not return.
