this hotel was allocated to us on arrival it is well worth a 5 star it is clean - well run - too much choice of food - there is something for everyones taste- the rooms are well above other spanish hotel standards - there was no noise at night - by guests running up and down corridors- the whole resort of albir is so spanish no burgers and chips and taccy shops - it has a wonderful prom to walk on which leads into altea which is not at all commersialised - if you do want the razzamatazz of benidorm it is only 85cents on the number 10 bus - they run very often and a taxi costs about 7 euros - i will be going back to this hotel again without a doubt.

We booked as a late deal for two weeks at the great price of £319 per person and expected to get a hotel in Benidorm as there are many hotels to choose from. However, we were told at the airport when we arrived that we would be staying in the new hotel 'Alfas Beach' in Albir. We were not too bothered about this as we knew that it was easy to get to Benidorm on the bus for 85c.

When we arrived at the hotel, we realised that it was 4 star and a lovely hotel indeed (only a few months old). Air-conditioned throughout and furnished to a very high standard. Large outdoor and indoor pools, a jacuzzi and mini gym.

The room that we were given on the 3rd floor overlooked the pool and also had a great view over Albir. It had a tv, fridge, hair dryer, lots of storage space as well as a FREE safety deposit box!!! Maid service was daily and rooms were cleaned to a very high standard.

The food was to a good standard, although repetitive and sometimes not very hot, however, when we asked for more of something, we were abliged, and it was hot! When you arrive at the dining hall, you are shown a table to sit at.
This is ok, but when there is confusion between the head waiter and his staff this can be rather annoying!!

On one occasion at breakfast, we were told to sit anywhere on the left hand side, but when we got there we were briskly sent to the other side. I explained that we were told by the head waiter to go to that side and this caused a row between the two waiters but we were given no apology by either of them.

A few days later on Saturday evening, we were at dinner and shown a table to sit at. We left our drinks receipt and some rolls on the table whilst we went to get soup. When we returned, there was someone sitting there and we kindly explained that we had been allocated that table. The gentleman told us that he had been sitting there for a while (we found out later that he was there first but when he went to get his sweet, the table had been cleared, changed and given to us). Miguel, a waiter, called over Maria, who was in charge at the time to help sort out the confusion, she jumped down his throat and told us in a VERY dismissive way that we had to move (no apology, no nothing!!!). I was furious that this had happened for a second time and left the dining room to report the matter to the hotel manager who was not on duty until the following Monday. I saw the deputy manageress on Monday who gave us an apology (the first one!) and assured us that there were plans in place to make the dining hall run more smoothly in future. We were also offered a complimentary lunch and given our room, free of charge, for longer on our day of departure.

The location of the hotel is up a steep hill in the middle of a residential area and whilst we were ok to walk up and down the hill, there were a lot of older people that found it hard going and therefore stayed around the pool area every day. In fact, there were a lot of people that arrived whilst we were there that requested to be moved to alternative accomodation.

Albir's beach is all stones, large stones! (tour operators call it shingle) I call it boulders!! Hence, we didn't spend any days there at all, instead we got a bus pass (Bono Bus) for ?15 (20 journeys) and went to Benidorm most days. Albir is very quiet in the evenings too, so if you want to party all night, you have to go to Benidorm. We went on the bus (they don't finish until around 11.30) for 85c and came back by taxi for around ?8.

Overall, we REALLY enjoyed our stay at this hotel, we met a lot of nice people who were also staying there; Doreen, Shirl, Margaret and Shirley from Sheffield, Elsie and Ann from Burnley and all the others (they know who they are) and not forgetting 'Mad Meg' who was often the butt of most of the jokes!!!

Although the hotel has had a few teething issues, we would stay here again in the future and would recommend it to anyone wanting a holiday in a more quieter setting to Benidorm on the Costa Blanca.

alfas beach was a last minute holiday, booked 6 days before we went. We couldn't have asked for a better hotel half board in August for 1 week £597 for a family of three. We couldn't get self catering for that.

The hotel had only been opened for 6 weeks but the four star was true to its word. Air conditioning through-out including bedrooms, free safety deposit box, fridge, tv, hairdryer, lovely comfortable rooms, decor excellent, service excellent, cleanliness is of a very high standard. Good size outdoor and indoor pools although indoor pool freezing but great if you get too burnt. They had a gym aswell but we didn't use it. They have rules for the sun loungers by the pool you aren't allowed to put your towels down to reserve them which we thought was an excellent idea it then gave other people a chance to sit by the pool.

The food was ok not very hot though and there was alot of the same food every day. We decided to have lunch instead of dinner as we felt the meal times at night were a bit late as they started at 20.00 - 22.30. Be prepare to queue at busy times as there isn't enough tables and chairs for everyone in the dining room. The bar is lovely and the wine is cheap but coke, sprite etc is 1euro50 for a small bottle.

Very low key entertainment and nothing for children unless they are like our daughter who just wants to play at the pool all day. There is a small shop next to the pool that opens for a few hours during the day selling lollies and juice but no snacks, crisps etc.

The hotel is up a hill not to steep but no good if you have difficulty walking, it takes about 5mins to walk down to the selection of shops and the supermarket at the bottom of the road. If you turn right at the bottom of the road and follow it along and round the corner you find the shingle beach and the promenade which is lovely it has a selection of english and spanish bars. Altea is the next town just 7mins in the bus which cost 85c no matter where you go it is very nice especially at night and there are very nice restaurants.

We would highly recommend this hotel.
