Flew With Monarch excellent. Picked up car at airport and with the aid of our sat Nav found our accomodation. The hotel is built in the hills surrounded by other private villas. To get to this rather exclusive development you have to go through security ( man in a box who vets you! )
The hotel is unobtrusive in the way it has been designed and it blends in well with the rest of the villas.
We checked in and were given a junior suite. The room was absolutely amazing. we had a separate bathroom which made our own at home look like a broom cupboard. There was bedroom, a lounge/dining room. 2 televisions one in the bedroom and one in the lounge and there was also a kitchenette.
Room sevice 24 hours if you wanted. sheets changed every day. The hotel was immaculate.
We had a balcony which overlooked the trees you could just make out the sea!
Food in the restaurant was similar price to here and to be honest it was good but nothing to rave about.
Breakfst was a huge choice and good, plenty of it if you so wished.
Unfortunately while we were there it rained for 4 days solid, high winds etc so we flew home earlier.
The resort of Altea is quaint and picturesque.
There is an indoor pool, but you have to wear a swim hat for which you will be charged 3 euros. There are 5 other outdoor pools. In the height of the season I would imagine this would be glorious.
There is a spa attached to the hotel and as the weather was poor we booked treaments and lavished ourselves!
Would recommend this hotel but it is suitable for couples. The hotel is out of the way so you would need a car.
If you want a little luxury go for it!

Firstly - the Hotel is fantastic, I travel a great deal and stay in very good hotels and this is as good as it gets. We had a junior suite which had a very large balcony, the bathroom had to be seen to be believed - very nice. We had inclusive breakfast which was superb and dined in once which was very good (about 60 Euros per head), however I took 2 teenagers who were bored to tears. There are very few English here, mostly the ";rich set"; from Madrid - when they wear Versace to the pool, you know it hasnt been aquired at North Weald market. So we had to go out every day to keep the boys occupied - the hotel then just became a very expensive base to operate from.
I would recommend this to couples looking for a pool holiday or those with very young children, but if you have older kids I would suggest going somewhere else (btw - the staff couldnt have been friendlier or more helpful.)
