A WORD OF WARNING - It may be worthwhile contacting your tour operator before you go. We had a confirmed booking at the Flamingo Oasis with Globespan. We arrived at the hotel to be told they had "water problems", that because of this the hotel had 100% occupancy, and we would have to spend our first night at another hotel. They stated that they had tried to contact our tour operator without success. We were also told that other parties were having to spend their whole holiday at another hotel. We know of at least 2 other couples affected by this problem, one having to spend their entire holiday at another hotel. Like us, they were unaware of any problems until their arrival.

The majority of guests checked in normally, however if you are in the minority who are turned away, it ruins your holiday, despite the best efforts of the reception staff to make amends. I was also puzzled why some guests were turned away, but other parties were checked in normally within the hour, even though no guests had checked out in the intervening period.

The hotel deserves its No.1 rating, but it is starting to show signs of wear and tear.

i just got back from this hotel and we absolutly loved it. reading some of these reviews i can understand peoples frustrations

yes, the food was just luke warm, but there was microwaves for the fussier eaters to reheat. yes the selection was repeated alot. but when theres a choice everyday of a joint of meat and fresh veg, pizza, pasta, rissotto, fish, burgers, local specialities, a huge salad bar, curry, casseroles, fresh fruits, ice creams and gateuxs, who cares! yes, there was a few dripping ceilings but this was just from the air con.

in my eyes all these complaints are a minor details

the only complaint i do have is the lifts. 8 lifts is nowhere near enough for 25 floors. so my top tip is to ask for a 1st floor apartment like us as my wife is afraid of heights. we used the stairs 90% of the time, or you could spend most of your hol in the hotel lobby.

there is a rooftop pool and a piano bar which is out of bounds for kids, which will no doubt be ideal for some of you.

the pool area dosent open till 8.45am and they dont let towels go out before then which is great.

the staff are all really efficiant even if some of the barstaff are a bit miserable!

but the highlight for us was the entertainment team. a group of about 10 seemingly multi talented young people who night after night put on amazing shows including musicals dances and funny sketches. that was on top of the daytime poolside activities like quizes bingo and numerous sporting games for young and old. we only left the hotel 1 night to look round benidorm because everything we wanted was at the hotel. the odd night the entertainment team had off was replaced with good singers, hypnotists and comedians. they also had a kids disco every night.

this is a beautiful hotel inside and out, well positioned 10 mins walk away from waterpark, market(sun & wed), seafront and the mundomar aquatic zoo(brilliant). 40 min scenic walk to the old town at the opposite end of the beach.

hope this review is usefull as i wouldnt normally bother, but felt i should as we had such a good time.

This is the 1st time i have been to Benidorm and only went to this hotel as it seem to be very highly rated . My wife and i went here in the Begining of June 08 with Globespan and to be honest it did not get off to a good start with flight being delayed over 2 hours thanks to Globespans flight crew running late !!! thanks for that Globespan !!

Anyway the hotel we thought was very good ,the staff very very helpfull and always busy ,they seem to clean from dusk till dawn ,our room was huge and we found the food very good and only when we where getting to the end of our 7 days we where getting a bit fed up with it but there is plenty of choice even for the fussiest eater .One thing i will say this is a family hotel ,there are loads of families there they come in big groups with as many faminly members are they can take which is not a bad thing but there place is over run with kids . Luckily there is a sun area and pool/bar on the roof which is we spent most of the time .The main pool area is mostly over run with families and kids having fun which is good .A lot of folk went out ealry and bagged theresleves sunloungers by the dozen which i thought was not on,this was the same at night with the entertainment where they would go and shift the tables and chairs in to groups to suit them ,,they say the Germans are bad !! I cant really say the entertainment was anything great but it kept the kids happy . The hotel is in a nice quiet area of Benidorm with a water park and sealife park not far and easy to walk too .

All in all if your planning a holiday with a young family and want a hotel you can stay at all the time and not fenture far then i would recommend this hotel,its got everything you need

However if your perhaps a couple seeking a bit more and dont want to be within the large family scene then i would go elsewhere .I would not go back to this hotel as it just not what i am looking for

If you do go then i would suggest booking with thomas cook as they have a rep there and can offer the normal rep service ,offer tours etc etc where as globespan have no rep there and even the bus taking you to the hotel just sort of chucked you off and the driver was one of the worst drivers ever too busy talking and no paying attention surprissed we got there and when we did it tool long enuff

Just come back from 2 weeks at this hotel and we would never go again. How it is rated 4 star is beyond us its only worth a 2 star (if that),The food was absolutely awful it was the same thing over and over,and it was never hot,the staff especially the bar staff where utterly miserable and the hotel in general needed alot of repairs,ie leaky ceilings holes in roof there was towels all over the floor soaking up all the water.Its definately not worth the price you pay.It cost us more eating out which on an all inclusive deal you dont expect to pay.We have been going all in for the last 6 years and this was the worst one we have ever had.

My sister had stayed at the Flamingo Oasis a few years ago and recommended that we stayed. We arrived on Saturday 3 November and had a short wait whilst our rooms were being made ready. We found all staff helpful and friendly. The food every day we were spoilt for choice and was also very good. As we went out of season there were very few children about. We were lucky with the weather 22 - 24c every day. All in all an excellent holiday and we are definetly looking to go back there next year.
