"Pueblo Benidorm Hotel"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Just got back from a week of sun and fun in Benidorm with some friends. We had adjoining rooms at the Pueblo Hotel and very nice it was too. Nice balcony where we could have a few drinks, and good bar downstairs and by the pool. Food was excellent. Nice and near the beach and all the bars.

"not for the younger generation."
Overall Hotel Rating:
The hotel was clean and the staff were pleasant enough. The rooms were clean, sparsely furnished and a bit cramped. The air-con only blew warm air which the hotel said was normal. The only pool of the 3 that was open was the indoor due to staff shortages. This was not good as it was a heated pool and the temp was 25 plus. The entertainment consisted of the local version of "higher or lower" which was absolutely mind numbing, or ballroom dancing. The dancing would not have been a problem if the oldies had stayed on the dance floor, but no, they had to dance in the aisles and walkways. This made any journey to the bar a running of the gauntlet affair, not my idea of fun with a tray of drinks. Definitely not a place for anyone under 55, or with small or young children. Would not recommend it to anyone looking for a family holiday.

"Pueblo"
Overall Hotel Rating:
I found this hoel to be 5*. The maid service was excellent. Reception very polite and helpful, when we arrived we were asked if we would like a high or low floor. Meals were excellent and catered for ages and nationalities. My husband is a very fussy eater and had a ball at this hotel. Top marks to Debbie, Climent and Carmen restuarant staff who went out of there way to make our stay most enjoyable. While we were there it was my husbans 60th birthday which we received a letter from the Manager with good wishes on his birthday and to accept a free bottle of wine or champagne from any of the bars or dining hall. How they knew it was his birthday, I will never know but it was a lovely surprise. Bar staff were again excellent. We go to benidorm 3 times a year and am annoyed that i have not been here before, I wish I had. Reviews that I have read are in my estimation inaccurate. Disabled clients are more than catered for here and also clients that are not well are waited on by waitresses and the ones that cannot get down to the restuarant, staff assist to make sure they get a meal up to them.

Overall Hotel Rating:
Being a 3* hotel we found this hotel one of the best we have ever been in. Food was very varied with a choice to suit everyone's taste. The dining room staff very very polite and efficient. The reception staff were the same especially Juan who when we asked directions for places to visit was both courteous and extremely helpful. We an not fault the maid service. Rooms were kept immaculate. Bar staff were also excellent as was the entertainment. The location is ideal for all ages as there are no hills and superb for disabled clients. We will definitely be returning again to this hotel. I think it should have a higher star rating but quite happy the way it is especially value for money. We had heard a lot of negative reports regarding this hotel but could find nothing wrong whatsoever. Well don PUEBLO. cCameron & June Edinburgh, Scotland.

"Good, could be better"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Arrived at the hotel at 1.30pm Tuesday after travelling since 3am. Check in was easy and quick. Room was small and the shower was tiny i.e. if you are of average size, your knees and elbows are going to be knocking against the tiles. The non-slip mat was larger than the half size bath you stand in. We got a full board deal and when we went to dinner we were pleasantly surprised. There were two meats and two types of fish. Problem was they were the same two meats (chicken and pork) all week except for Sunday when there was roast beef and a creditable attempt at yorkshire puddings. Still it was all well prepared and presented, if not always as hot as it could have been. We only stayed for a week and were happy with the service in the restauant until Friday when loads of Spanish pensioners arrived for the week-end. The waiters then concentrated all their efforts on serving them. Most of the week-end we had to clear our own tables and fetch our own cutlery. It all seemed to get back to normal on the Monday. Apparently the Spanish government either pays for or subsidises breaks for their pensioners. Take note, Gordon. The hotel is well situated in the centre of things with just a slight hill and is only yards from the market. It also has a heated indoor pool which was great. The weather while we were there was good with lots of sunshine and only a couple of afternoons of rain. At this time of the year when the sun is relatively low in the sky, it can be hard to find places to sunbathe among the high rises. It is amazing to see a bar with loads of people in, just decamp to the next bar as the sun disappears behind on of the taller hotels. There are lots of cabaret bars with good entertainment. With the pound being so weak drinks can be expensive as some of the local beers and most of the local spirits are virtually undrinkable. For example a bottle of San Miguel can cost 2/3 euros and a Smirnoff vodka and lemonade can cost four and a half euros which is a lot more expensive than England. Be aware, during the winter months, Benidorm is crowded with pensioners on long-stay holidays and there are few younger people there. I am 60 and my wife and I were two of the younger guests. Re-reading the review, I seem to have complained a lot, however, we had a really good holiday. AlthoughI would recommend it for a short winter break, I would imagine that if you don't play bingo or sing Karaoke, any longer could be hard to endure.
