"Very Poor Hotel - Never Again "

Overall Hotel Rating:

Open quote

Had the misfortune of staying at this hotel for 9 nights during the month of August 2011. This hotel is very dated and extremely noisey at night time. There is a spanish Disco directly underneath this hotel which plays extremely loud music until 4 30 in the morning, after this the streets underneath the hotel are full of drunken spanish people shouting and breaking glasses until at least 6 in the morning. The rooms are very tiny and the ensuite even smaller. The towels we received were embarrasing it was nearly impossible to dry ourselves with them. The food was average and the service was very poor. The evening entertainment was provided by drag acts which in my opinion were very boring. This hotel is ideally located near to the main beech in Benidorm - other than that there are no good points about this shabby dirty hotel.

We loved it. The new management have made improvements and continuing to do so to all areas. Small and friendly. The menu is excellent and everything on it is made on the premises by one of the 3 chefs, also there is a choice where you want to eat either in the bar, on the new roof terrace (smoking allowed) or the more formal dining room. I was really suprised to learn after very late night actually it was an early morning anyway a lay in was required, we could still have our full english upto 12noon. The rooms are compact and have everything you need including the all important brewing facility a god send first thing. The bathrooms are well equiped and clean and thankfully came stocked with soap and shampoo (mine left at home as per usual). The entertainment was varied and included comedian, singer and drag artists. mostly adult themed. All together it was more than good value for money with prices as low as £99 for 3 nights half board. Lastly the staff from the English owner Julia manager Avi to the cleaner Julie all without exception were friendly and helpful, created an atmostphere we didnt want to come home. I have been back on the web site www.queensbenidorm.com and booked another stay. Overall this gay friendly hotel in the old town was great and we are going back soon.

Meals are of excellent quality and available all day, rooms are being upgraded, and the nightly entertainment is fantastic. They deserve to do well here, giving of their best at all times, the queens has a diverse clientel smoking roof terrace which is a godsend. Good Luck, will be back. Richard,

Well where do i start, We ( 2 straight couples) booked the hotel 2 rooms, or should i say cupboards, arrived at the hotel and sat in the bar, which also has a reception area, ( 1inch thick of dust ) REALLY, we were asked straight away for the remainder of money outstanding ( paid deposit over phone) then given our keys, not told where the food was served or times, so we sat in the bar for a few minutes, then my wife went to the bar and ordered 2 (local) bacari and coke, which was on (so called offer for 4€) 2 for the price of 1, so as we hadnt even gone up to our room she said well we will have one, (we both drink the same drink) and the free one, bar women said no you cant do that the same person has to drink the (so called ) free drink, ? so we had to pay 8€ for 4 drinks which we didnt want!!! it gets worse. it really does, so after the drinks we pressed the button for the lift, and no lift, the same women behing the bar said " it will be the maids holding the door open" so we had to walk up the six flights of stairs, not good with your cases, get up to the room, and guess what, wrong keys, ( of now) went back down and given correct keys, went into room if thats what you call it, i have a garden shed bigger, again REALLY, room did have a so called balcony, but because it had 2 chairs on it, you couldnt get on to it, around the bed, i would say there was 12 inch pathway, REALLY, the bathroom had a bath that measured 1200mm long, its the smallest bath i have ever seen, and i am a plumber, if you needed to sit down on the toilet, you had to open the door, pull you pants down then walk backward into the bathroom with you backside sticking out this is to sit on the loo, and while you were reversing the toilet seat would fall down, then you would have to walk forward,go back in pull the seat up then repeat above, this sounds like a good sketch, well its not, its for real, aircon in room was good, but there is NO instructions and we were just lucky that we sussed it out, we found out that food was served in the bar or resturant, but they didnt like you asking for food to be taken upstairs to the resturant, anyway, food was not so bad, so long as you like CREAM, everything is cooked with it, i dont like it so food was terrable for me, curry cooked with cream, chicken cooked with cream, pie cooked with cream, and many other meals, disgusting to me,then there were the staff, well if you are gay and good looking then you would get a smile out of martin the so called manager (HITLER) he never smiled once apart from when he was eyeing up the younger gay men, there was a real nice chap wasnt sure of his name, but he is from wigan area, and always pleasant with "alrite luf" we had a laugh with him, the entertainment was rubbish, absolutely, if you want drag acts, go just around the corner to either kaylee cafe or the ritch b*tch, both almost facing each other, and only 2 minutes walk from queens if you want to book here, i wont be ever again, i have been to benidorm many many times, and stayed in the new town and the old town, and best places and cheapest, estudios and bristol residentia in the old town or el trebol in the new town all very competative prices, referring back to queens, the bar area is that dirty you cant see through the glass window, and the dust in the bar/reception area is OMG. OH MY GOD, if the hotel were in the uk well it would be shut down, without doubt, very rude, overpriced, airing cupboard rooms, with rip off bar prices, please take note of all above, if you would like to know more call me 07964477330 dean.

Well what can I say about this hotel! When we arrived the room wasnt ready even though it was 1pm, and it does say from midday on the website. We were offered a drink for the inconvenience, but then given the bill for them (nice touch!) When people say the rooms are small, they are not wrong! In my single room you can sleep, iron, make a cuppa, use the loo, have a shower, unpack all at the same time! the air conditioning is free, but whatever you do, DO NOT LEAVE IT ON!! 1 morning I did, and the remote was taken away and put behind reception, I was like a naughty boy going to see the headmaster! The rubbish point for the WHOLE of the old town is right outside where everyone brings their rubbish 24/7! Dont expect a quiet siesta in the afternoon. The food was ok, 9.75 for 3 courses, but do try Michaels for 25 cence more you get a fantastic meal! Clientele - as a gay man I felt uncomfortable in this hotel. Its full of straight northen women 40+ who love a good cheap show. The night porter is rude and abrupt and you have to knock after 2 to get your key. its a HUGE effort for him to come and open the door for you. This hotel is run by a drag queen who enjoys performing in the hotel on and off stage. Staff are ok, if you are gay and they dont fancy you, they wont give you the time of day. Check out the Don Juan hotel or babylon, both on the next street and far better value for money!

"Horrible hotel, Horrible staff"

Stuck in a dark dingy corner of a noisy square, facing the huge dustbins. The manager could not give a monkeys about guests, he screams at staff, who all seem terrified of the little worm. He throws on a frock at night and calls it an act. If you go more than once you see the same show, songs, jokes...even the patter is the same word for word. Expensive for a hotel with no pool and small mainly dirty rooms. Tip, check your sheets before you get into bed, Mine had a lovely reminder of the last person who stayed, they were obviously not changed. YUK!!!

"Queen's hellhole rip off"

Overall Hotel Rating:

Poor

Open quote

My partner and I stayed here for week comm. 18th Aug.2008. We arrived after 12 noon to be told our room was not ready despite being told we could check in from 12. We were told our room was on the 7th floor (73) but the lift was broken. It was a full 24hrs before it was repaired. We were also informed that the room did not have a balcony even though we paid for a premium room. The room was I am sure a single room with two beds squeezed in. To get to the wardrobe we had to move one of the bed and then put it back to get out of the room. The view from our room was of a crack in the wall of the building opposite but if you stuck your head out of the window looked left over the roof tops you could see the sea but only one of us at a time as there was no room for 2 together. The bathroom with its half size bath was so small you could sit on the toilet and put your elbows on the wash hand basin. We were b/b but breakfast was only 4 types of cereal.toast which you made yourself after getting the bread out of the packets and tea or coffee.A cooked breakfast was available but was an extra 4 euros. In 20 yrs of visiting Benidorm I have never stayed in a hotel which was a total rip off like this one.3 gay couples were in all the rooms with no balconies whilst straight couples had the rooms with. The entertainment was catered for your typical straight crowd and a lot of fun was made of audience members a cheap and not very nice way to get laughs.Sheets and towels were only changed every 3rd day.The towels were very thin and not very soft and as we had no balcony it was very difficult to dry 4 towels each day in the room.We had one evening meal in the hotel but to be honest you could eat cheaper and better outside.A 4 course meal at Michaels restaurant was only 10 euros everyday and a choice of 10 starters 10 main courses and 10 desserts.I would never stay in this excuse for a hotel again and would not recommend it to anyone, even my worst enemy. We had stayed the previous week in a 4* hotel called the Palm Beach half board with excellent food 2 swimming pools and the comfort you would expect from a 4* hotel. It cost us 270 euros whilst the Queens hellhole cost us 375 euros. This place ruined our holiday.

Well the Hotel used to be super when the old managers ran t but now that they are so sucessful they leave te little obnoxious French dwarf with attitude in charge. The Hotel Motto seems to be if your not satisfied....Tough Gay peope are only welcome if the staff want to sleep with you otherwise its ok to be gay as long as you dont act gay or upstage the sad drag queen. Not a nice place far better and cheaper places to stay.

"Queens Hotel review"

Overall Hotel Rating:

Average

Open quote

I recently visited the Queens hotel in Benidorm - its quite a bog standard small hotel where basically you get what you pay for. The rooms are quite small and if you are on the larger side then you struggle to get into the showers.

The food was fantastic and staff are also very polite and helpful (although I thought the owners where quite abrupt and rude at times to there staff in front of customers)

If yoú´ve never seen the entertainment before its worth a visit to see the owners doing the show - however if you go to see it twice in the week like we did the act doesnt change at all.

While there we also visited the rich bitch which was a great show and also went to New town which also has some fab shows which was just a few euros in a cab.

I must say that anybody who has never been to benidorm and think its just lager louts must really come and judge for themselves as the old town is very quaint and typically spanish but with plenty of english bars too.
