After a horrible experience at the Villa Casa Mwinda in Altea (see seperate review) we travelled along the coast to Denia and came across this lovely hotel.
It is a spa resort and is at the top end of the 4* ratings.
We were shown to our room which turned out to be a junior suite with a pool view and a balcony.
The hotel is spotlessly clean with friendly staff and at just over £600 for 6 nights bandb represented excellent value.
Denia is a clean and safe resort with long sandy beaches and good shops and restaurants. It is extremely quiet at night with no evidence of crime or trouble.
We did visit most of the resorts on the Costa Blanca and would say that Javier is also a similar resort. Benidorm is what we expected with loads of lager louts and tacky bars. Torriveja was probably the dirtiest place we saw.
Terra Mitica is worth a visit especially if you have kids and was virtually empty on the day we visited, but watch out for the Spanish who appear to hate waiting behind you and try to push past at every opportunity.
Overall I would rate the Costa Blanca as a quiet area with not too much to do unless you like spendind the day on a beach or in a bar. A week was plenty for us.
