Urbanization La Marina looks like a big housing estate with sun.It is also getting bigger and there are the usual cranes but noise was not a problem. There are a lot of ex pats living here and there is a community spirit about the place. There are several super markets and shops and services of all descriptions.A good sized market takes place Thursdays and Sundays.
Although there is a bus service of sorts, a car is a must. It is 20 mins at most from Alicante airport but nowhere near any place else. If you don't like what's on offer in La Marina, Guardamar is 4/5 miles away and the superb Santa Pola 7/8 miles. The nearest beach is near La Marina village and is about 2 miles. The beach is very good as is the place serving food at it.
There is a bowling green in the urbanization along with a pool and childrens play area. A small water park has opened but we can't comment as we didn't see it.
Pubs are plentiful and there is just about every type of restaurant possible.The french restaurant is very good as were most we tried to be fair. It was disappointing that the worst meal we had was from a British establishment where they were more interested in the singing. If excellent value for money with friendly service and really good food is what you're after give The Victoria Chinese a try.
We had a great time and ate cheaply at many Spanish restaurants away from the touristy places.
