We have been to the Torreviejca area before but not La Zenia. We found it had everything we wanted for the 2 weeks and would not have needed to hire a car. The accomodation had enough beds in the rooms for all of us (no opening and shutting the sofabed) and had all the things youu would expect(with the addition of washer and internal courtyard). Fairly new and well kept the balcony overlooks the pool at 1st floor level but the front garden and door is at street level. the garden is secure with a wall and gate and planted seating area. The pool and communal areas are located back through the mainn building and across an underground car-park. the external doors were kept locked and secure, there was a lift and the carpark was spacious and had very few cars in it (2). The pool was fantastic ,landscaped with outside shower and 2 toilet, there was some seating areas but it was too hot to sit out. Nearby were some shops bars and restaurants, not all were child friendly but most were and the Indian did a great takeaway to have sat out on the balcony.
There was a big beach within 300m and a few smaller ones around a 5 min walk away. They are puttinging in a coastal path so that was a bit messy but should have been finished by the end of the summer (but it is Spain). We prefered the smaller of the beaches to the right, it had some partially submerged rocks just out a little, great for snorkelling around but adults could wade out to them, the beach and sea were clean but there was the usual amount of beach sellers, fresh fruit and ice-lollies were good but who buys a carpet???
Coastal path takes you to Cabo Roid (good for bars - Taxi back ?5) or Playa Flamenca (good for watching football with the other Brits) and there was a waterpark just inland smaller than the one in Torrevieja but probably better. we also went for a mountain drive to the Sierra De Espunga??? which tests your left hand drive skills and for a day to benidorm (clean beach - yuccy water) and a wildlife park Rio Safari at Elche. of all the restaurants we recommend Zest close by.
