shelves gently into the sea, there are toilets near the beach as well as snack bars and beach beds/shades etc.

We found there was not a lot of nightlife but again I think we were too late in the year as you could see that lots of places had shut shop for the year even Jocks fun bar was closed and having read previous reviews I was looking forward to going.

All in all we had a nice relaxing time at a very nice place and would go back but earlier in the year.

Lovely place for all the family. Sunny and beutiful location also lots of bars for time without the kiddies!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The coast of Blanes has 4 km of different kinds of beaches, the most famous are Blanes beach and S'Abanell beach. Steep rocky cliffs and small inviting coves alternate within its scenery. The most well-known town nearby is Lloret de Mar.

calella is a lovely spanish town with new and old . the beaches our of a very high standard. and the small streets with lots of shops and restaurants make a lovely walk in the warm evenings . you can always find a quiet spanish bar if you wish or walk to the more lively streets with bars and clubs. the trains run along the coast and for just a few euros you can go to other resorts along the coast. which makes a lovely day out.

on the good side you can get a train to barcelona for about 24 euro wich i heard was worth every penny. there is a crazy golf and a 10 pin bowling alley, i didnt really see anything for small children, the beach was like grit sand, and the sea is not suitable for small kids or people who can not swim as there is a steep incline at the water edge so you are up to shoulders straight away, and im 5ft 7in, and while we there the sea was current was very strong and the waves knocke you over, so no paddling and no sand castle building with that type of sand. there was not really that many bars, certainly not many english bars. i heard papas was good but we never went in there. the shopping precinct however is fabulous, with all different types of shops that seemed to go on forever, not the usual cheap tacky shops you usually get. there is a cinema too. glad my kids didnt go as they would have been bored in half a hour.

Lloret De Mar review

If you want a lively resort go to Lloret, there are loads of disco's and bars and the place is full of teenagers having a good time, and i have to say in the week we were ther we saw no hint of any trouble.

We had a great time and i am 51 and my partners is 48,a few people on our bus were a bit put off when we arrived and saw all the teenagers but we still go round the towns and enjoy a good night out so it was right up our street.

There are nice bars for people who dont want the busy bars ,Carmens along the sea front towards the castle is one such bar, nice atmosphere and just quiet background music and the food was very good and reasonable,we both had lasagne with garlic bread and five rounds of drinks and the bill came to £35.00.

This is a very busy resort and there is plenty to do, excellent selection of bars and restaurants and we really enjoyed exploring the old town. The beaches are sandy with lifeguards so great if you have children. It can be a bit noisy at night but we weren't to bothered by this as we could escape back to the hotel for peace and quiet.

Varadero beach is beautiful white sand over 10 miles long. There are many beach bars dotted along. At the weekends beach is very busy with Cubans down from Havana + other cities. You can do all usual water sports Most Europeans go to resort hotels which are outwith the town. A jump on /off all day ticket is 5 peso on the Varadero beach tour bus. It takes 2 hours to go full circle. If you like shopping, I thought everything was expensive. 17 peso(CUC) for a bucket + spade + 40 for a lilo is taking the michael imo. As all the shops are government run its very much a take it or leave it attitude. There are also lots of museums and book shops with interesting cuban propaganda type stuff

Lloret was what I expected. A typical commercial spanish resort. You don't go there for the spanish culture its pretty much Britain with sun. I was jsut looking for a relaxing holiday though so that suited me. Great bars and nightlife.

Great to get to places such as Barcelona. Not many bars but the Station Bar is worth a visit and gives out prizes for Quizzes and Bingo. Also worth wandering a bit further down to Malgret de Mar. the Swan Pub is quite a laugh with a Tartan Pool Table. there is a great market in Santa Susannah on a Tuesday in the main street near the seafront.

Malgrat De Mar review

"Beautiful Views"

67%
of reviewers would recommend this
resort to a friend

Open quote

This is by far the best Spanish resort I have ever stayed in.It still has a Spanish feel to it,not spoiled by to many English Pubs and German Beer Cellars.Small cobbled streets lead up to the fortified old part of town.It is worth the walk or jump on the small road train to the top of the fort (lighthouse and museum) for a beautiful view across the bay of Tossa where there is a small cafe to sit and get your breath back whilst enjoying the panoramic views.Plenty of restaurants ranging from 10 euros up to 25 euros per person for a 3 course meal including a large beer or half a litre of sangria.Good choice of boat trips from the beach including a water taxi ferry which calls at other resorts along the coast. This is a quiet resort, and not suitable for teenagers, mostly suited to older couples or families with young children who only need the beach.
