"Nice Resort. Not a lot open in Febrary"
Overall Resort Rating:
The resort of Calella is probably very nice in the high season with plenty of shops, bars and resturants to suit all tastes. Unfortunatly when we had our holiday in Febrary there were not a lot of them open. The beach stretches the full length of the resort and i am sure the kids will love it.

"Calella"
Overall Resort Rating:
This is a clean and pleasant resort, plenty of places to eat and drink, handy train links to Barcelona and Girona. Found getting to the beach difficult due to having to cross the train lines but there are plenty of underground places to do this. Would recommend this resort to people with families of all ages. There was not much to do in the evening but we were there in November so didn't expect much.

"Great place"
Overall Resort Rating:
The resort was generally a good place to spend time shopping, eating and drinking. There are plenty of souvenir and clothes shops here and most were quite reasonable, we even picked up a few bargains. The restaurants were many and there was quite a varied selection. As with all places, you have to look around a bit to find the best restaurants as there are a lot of overpriced touristy places here. We managed to find some reasonable and excellent places to eat though. The nightlife was a little on the quiet side for my tastes, although my partner liked it that way! Most of the bars don’t stay open late, and the few that do aren’t the best places to hangout. We still had some great nights out though so I can’t really complain. The beach here is very nice, although quite busy most of the time. That’s to be expected with a resort like this though I suppose. Overall, there was plenty to see and do here, you would be hard pushed to get bored. I would certainly visit again.

"A busy resort"
Overall Resort Rating:
Calella is a lovely resort with loads of shops along its two and a half mile stretch. There are plenty of bars and restaurants (but it is quite an expensive resort). There is a train station in the centre which takes you North to Blanes or South to Barcelona and this is the cheapest way to get out and about in the Costa Brava. The Sunday market ot Tordera is a must and is the largest market. You can get there by train. There are also several boat taxis which take you to the nearby resorts of Santa Susanna, Lloret De Mar, Tossa de Mar, but again these are quite expensive.
Calella has a lovely beach, offering plenty of watersports and is accessed via underpasses over which the railway line runs.
There is also a twenty minute noddy train service that runs daily from 9am to 9.30pm taking you all around the resort if you get fed up of walking.

"lovely resort for kids"
Overall Resort Rating:
There are plenty of excursions on offer, the water park in blanes which is about 1/2 hour bus ride is AMAZING kids loved it, dolphins and seals, plus a huge water park with rides suitable for all, this was a bargain excursion and I wish we'd booked to go more than once! Barcelona tour, also 1/2 hour is well worth doing, stadium for footie fans, shopping for the ladies, with a trip to the fountains in the evening-very beautiful! There is a knights castle in Torderra where you have a banquet and watch the knights joust to save the princess, again kids loved this although it was a late night. We used the cheap, local trains to go to Genoa. A delightful city with an historical and picturesque river front of many old houses, interesting Cathedral with a beautiful, ancient Tapestry of The Creation. As old as The Bayeux Tapestry but not as well known. Leaving the hotel and going into the town was not very interesting either every shop sells the same thing, the beach is very pretty but has no beach activities, no pedal boats, no speed boats, no banana boats. nothing. if u like to sleep all day in the sun you will enjoy.
The only excursion I would avoid with young children is Portaventura!! It costs a bloody fortune and 1 1/2 hours on a coach with no air con to get there and find the kids are too small to go on most things, wasn't very impressed with.

"calella town"
Overall Resort Rating:
calella is a lovely spanish town with new and old . the beaches our of a very high standard. and the small streets with lots of shops and restaurants make a lovely walk in the warm evenings . you can always find a quiet spanish bar if you wish or walk to the more lively streets with bars and clubs. the trains run along the coast and for just a few euros you can go to other resorts along the coast. which makes a lovely day out.

"Calella -will be back soon"
Overall Resort Rating:
the resort was lovely and good shopping area in centre of town. Lovely clean beach which is quite shingley instead of sand, but very clean. Town very easy to find way around. no groups of stag hen nights or anything like that. Meals out were very expensive so was glad we were all inclusive. There is also a bowling alley incase whether not that good but when we were there it was sunny every day.

Varied resort with something for everyone. Strength of pound against euro would have spoilt it if we had not been all inclusive as prices to drink and eat are now very high.

"Quiet but lovely"
Overall Resort Rating:
Very nice with nightlife quite close but not close enough to keep you awake if you had young children etc. Beach was lovely and clean and there were planty of shops closeby to buy cut price drinks, ice-creams etc.
