"Family freindly."
Overall Resort Rating:
Lovely wide clean beach with lots of toilets, showers and places to get food. The only issue we had was the sand was fairly gritty,, no problem for adults at all but the dissapointmnet for a 4 year old how cant build sand castles was heasrt breaking. Also the beach into the water is very steep so please take care with children.

"Picturesque Calella"
Overall Resort Rating:
there is lots to do for everyone in the resort of Calella, and there is also a train station for a great day out in Barcelona, which i highly recomend, and at less than £7 return an absolute bargain.

"callella has grown over recent years"
Overall Resort Rating:
used to be a small resort but has grown over recent years whilst retaining a real spanish flavour. Busier than neighbouring resort santa susanna but quieter than lloret de mar. Yes there are still family pubs and bars popular with the brits but generally not so rowdy. A few hotels provide entertainment and tend to be open to all. Some nice restaurants can be foun More choice in peak season as opposed to early or late but even then, you can usually find something to do. A few places are open til early hours but for the young and lively they can always get a bus to lloret if needed. Shopping tends to be touristy shops with lots of leather goods and pottery. Markets are weekly and it is easy to gwet the bus to neighbouring markets too. Use the underpass to cross the coastal road to the beach. A railway runs alongside and tickets are reasonable if you want to explore further afield.

"nice"
Overall Resort Rating:
The resort itself is nice, lovely beach, some nice shops, a few good clubs and lots of bars. I recommend going to marine land, its as zoo and water park in one, also has a dolphin show. Food is expensive though so probably best to take your own. Also the little train you cath outside the hotel is really good, it goes all around the resort. I wouldnt really recommend the medieval castle trip, firstly its not even a medieval castle its a replica (which they dont tell you) and the fighting is all a bit staged and pantomine (plus its in spanish). If I went again I would go to Santa Susanna which is right next to calella, it looks lovely there. Hope this review helps some people!

"Esmeraldas"
Overall Resort Rating:
Part of the Med Playa chain, the Aparthotel Esmeraldas is a large property just five hundred metres from the resort centre. Tossa de Mar's sand and shingle beach is within walking distance and the hotel, with recently refurbished public areas, has its own pool with a separate section for children. With doors leading out to the large pool terrace the bar is popular...especially during Happy Hour. This lively aparthotel suits families with children of all ages seeking a high standard of service.

"Calella"
Overall Resort Rating:
We thought it was a great place to be staying. It wasn't Summer but you still didn't need to be wrapped up in your woollies. We set off with our coats on and ended up taking them off. We had lovely walks along the coast and soon came to other places of interest. We saw Pina De Mar I think that was the next town.
You could also get on the train in Calella and go to Barcelona for the day. 70% of your journey you are going along the beach, which is lovely to look at. The rest of the way is just as nice. When we arrived in Barcelona which wasn't too expensive either, only about 7 euros each. We went to the old stalls with all their hand made goods were. The Las Ramblas was very busy and had people dressed up on each side of the street. My husband and I enjoyed it enormously.

"Nice Resort. Not a lot open in Febrary"
Overall Resort Rating:
The resort of Calella is probably very nice in the high season with plenty of shops, bars and resturants to suit all tastes. Unfortunatly when we had our holiday in Febrary there were not a lot of them open. The beach stretches the full length of the resort and i am sure the kids will love it.

"Great place"
Overall Resort Rating:
The resort was generally a good place to spend time shopping, eating and drinking. There are plenty of souvenir and clothes shops here and most were quite reasonable, we even picked up a few bargains. The restaurants were many and there was quite a varied selection. As with all places, you have to look around a bit to find the best restaurants as there are a lot of overpriced touristy places here. We managed to find some reasonable and excellent places to eat though. The nightlife was a little on the quiet side for my tastes, although my partner liked it that way! Most of the bars don’t stay open late, and the few that do aren’t the best places to hangout. We still had some great nights out though so I can’t really complain. The beach here is very nice, although quite busy most of the time. That’s to be expected with a resort like this though I suppose. Overall, there was plenty to see and do here, you would be hard pushed to get bored. I would certainly visit again.

"Calella"
Overall Resort Rating:
This is a clean and pleasant resort, plenty of places to eat and drink, handy train links to Barcelona and Girona. Found getting to the beach difficult due to having to cross the train lines but there are plenty of underground places to do this. Would recommend this resort to people with families of all ages. There was not much to do in the evening but we were there in November so didn't expect much.

"A busy resort"
Overall Resort Rating:
Calella is a lovely resort with loads of shops along its two and a half mile stretch. There are plenty of bars and restaurants (but it is quite an expensive resort). There is a train station in the centre which takes you North to Blanes or South to Barcelona and this is the cheapest way to get out and about in the Costa Brava. The Sunday market ot Tordera is a must and is the largest market. You can get there by train. There are also several boat taxis which take you to the nearby resorts of Santa Susanna, Lloret De Mar, Tossa de Mar, but again these are quite expensive.
Calella has a lovely beach, offering plenty of watersports and is accessed via underpasses over which the railway line runs.
There is also a twenty minute noddy train service that runs daily from 9am to 9.30pm taking you all around the resort if you get fed up of walking.
