Both my husband and I did not like the hotel very much. The restaurant was not to our liking, we had trouble in finding a seat and most of the time when we needed a cup or teaspoon we had to stand and wait for the staff to bring them. We have been on a 3* half board holiday and had better service in the restaurant. We thought the friendliness of the bar staff and reception staff was very nice towards us both. The cleanliness of the rooms was also very good and the room was cleaned daily. The entertainment was all in spanish and most of the people who were there was either spanish or german. There wasn't many english pubs or cafes (about two of each) and it isn't a place or a hotel that we would go back to again.

This is a naturist hotel, all the guests are fully nude from 0800 to 2000 around the pool, and inside the hotel, apart from in the restaurant where clothing is required. The hotel is fine, although the food is basic - the best food is from the outside area where meat and fish are grilled to order. It is a little strange wandering around nude, but you soon get used to it. Nearly all the women are fully shaven. Two of the girls who orgainse the kids entertainment are also naked most of the day (and very nice they are too). There is a jacuzzi next to the pool which comfortably holds about 10 people. The naturist beach is adjacent to the hotel, so it is possible to walk naked from the hotel to the beach.

As described in other reviews, the resort centres amongst the cafe society set and we found this to be very relaxing (even our 2 children, really enjoyed the resort). If you're looking for a typical British holiday abroad, then this is not the resort for you. However, to experience a more traditional Spanish holiday in a very safe and relaxing environment, then you can't go wrong with Roquetas de Mar and the Neptuno.

Arrived on time and checked in to the hotel with the minimum of fuss. We had a 2 bedroomed apartment which was very spacious. The apartment had all the usual features (except a kettle which had been mentioned previously in the reviews), but had a very large fridge and freezer (very handy to keep ice creams which were much cheaper purchased at the local shop). Whilst the hotel mainly caters for a Spanish clientelle, all nationalities were made to feel welcome. Indeed, many a time I was the only Englishman playing Water Polo but I was accepted and not made to feel an outsider. The Animation Team work very hard to keep adults and children entertained on a daily basis but do not 'push' the activities so people are not pressurised to join in the fun. My children (13 and 7) really enjoyed the pool (especially the 2 slides) and the eldest met some lovely Spanish and British children playing there. Luckily. there wasn't the usual sunbed rush as the Spanish generally didn't appear until 1000 and sunbeds were not allowed to be reserved unless at least 1 person was actually using them and the cleaning of the poolside areas were not finished until 0930ish. We didn't stay around for the evening entertainment as we preferred the resort (especially the Playa Serena area) where we sampled many of the Restaurants and Cafe/Tapas Bars.

Mojaca has a wonderful view and was very popular with all of us. Eating out was a bit of hassle, considering there was 19 of us, but the staff worked extremely well. I'd definetely reccomend this to you.

Hotel-

The hotel was ever so clean. I saw them sweeping the stream. The sprinklers were always on, the pools were always being cleaned, the room service was fantastic... I couldn't fault it. I loved the fact that you didn't have to leave the Hotel to buy gifts. There was a row of shops in the plaza, and a bigger one separate. The entertainment was surprisingly good. I really enjoyed Grease. We missed Aladdin, which I'm dissapointed at, but ho hum pigs bum. I'd say an 8/10.

Food-

We were self catering so never used the hotel food. All of the restaurants were fabulous. The one I didn't really like was Bar Isabel. Although, the food came quite quickly. Cowboy Cochina was a favourite. Our favourite place to go after dinner was the Irish Rover. The most entertaining karaoke ever! I even got up myself! I have to give dear Tommy the waiter a mention. He went up and sang for my auntie! Yikes! Whang Zhu was a Chinese restaurant. Very yummy dinner there. So I'd have to give the food a 9/10.

Waterpark-

The water park was amazing. Everyone had a brilliant time. It wasn't too big, but it wasn't too small. It was just perfect. There was only one problem... The heat on your feet was so intense! I think I burned my feet. Another problem was hygene. In the toilets, at the rides, so just be careful. Other than that, it was exceptionally good. I really enjoyed myself. 8/10.

Overall-

Mojaca had some absoulutely amazing, picturesque views. The one down fall was the heat. I did struggle, but you do overcome it. My advice is; Try to stay in the shade, put on lots of suncream and enjoy yourself. I certainly did!

Having read some of the reviews we were a bit worried, but with 19 of us on holiday (ranging from 4yrs to late 40's) we decided to keep an open mind...

Reasons for opting for Mojacar/Pueblo Indalo was that it was not a typical 'Costa' - no high rise hotels to spoil the most picturesque views. We were in walking distance to most of where we wanted to go - no taxis required. We had to get a bus to the waterpark (great park - not too big) - bus-stop right outside hotel and stops at entrance of park.

The apartments were pretty spacious. All had a full working cooker (great for those who want to cook in - though we didn't use it much). Plenty of cooking pots/utensils. You do have to hire the kettle - though you get euros back! It states bedding and towels changed once a week - towels were changed almost daily - just 2 days without whilst we were there but as lost track of time I couldn't tell you what days. I think people forget that if self catering in UK you do not get maid service so don't think you can complain!! As for the stairs - there are walkways! We were aware of the stairs before we went so again I can't/won't complain! Gardeners/Maintenance worked morning, noon and night - even seen the stream being swept!!

The entertainment is very much in favour for the Spaniards but we didn't spend that much time in the Plaza. What we did see though was excellent entertainment (for hotels) - Aladdin, Miss Saigon, Flamenco and the buzz around the plaza at night time was great. We enjoyed being the 'foreigners' - Hey! we're the visitors so actually felt we were on holiday abroad!

Eating out - we read all the reviews and created a 'hit list' of the most popular restaurants so no bad meals! When leaving the hotel turn right and walk the promenade. Here's a run down of restaurants I can remember;

Torres Bahia - a favourite The first Chinese Restaurant - Whang Zhu (?) Irish Rover (3 course for 10€ - best karaoke/evening entertainment bar!) El Lance - for paella and or pizza Cowboy Cocina - amazing burgers and a favourite with the kids - all freshly cooked! Blue Lagoon - great breakfasts as well as meals.

Only disappointing meal (for the kids) was at Bar Isabel though staff were lovely.

Another one is a restaurant that sits near the roundabout (sea view) that do great Sunday roasts (think it was 7€). Plenty of beach bars/restaurants - but didn't get to them all.

We would return to Mojacar - a definite favourite for us all.

Just arrived back from Peublo Indalo Apartments booked with First Choice but flew with Monarch Airline had to pay £30 excess so watch weight of suitcases even though there were 6 of us altogether - still had to pay for being overweight. Flight ok had to pay for meals on board but saying that they were ok the food was pretty good. Now the apartments very basic but clean enough no kettle toaster or microwave. Beds and towels changed about every 5 days as there was 6 of us we did struggle with clean towels for a couple of days - also had to buy extra toilet rolls the rooms were not cleaned whilst we were there. The downside of these apartments are the steps and the steps and the more steps. Steps up to reception steps up to the pool. Once we were at the pool we had 106 steps up to the apartment which when you have suitcases a 2 year old and a buggy is a struggle these apartments are defenifitely not suitable for people with mobility problems. The entertainment was rubbish felt as if the team were just going through the motions could not be bothered usual stuff singing to Grease and Moulin Rouge mind you have to say that once we were back in apartment a few nights we could not face the hike again of going out just bought wine and beer and stayed in. No English TV only Sport and News channel I know you don't go on holiday to watch TV but sometimes it is nice just to chill after supper and watch a film and not go out. The apartments are also full of Spanish Holiday makers and their families not that many Brits but then again no larger louts or noisy neighbours either. We found the Spanish very friendly probably because we had the baby with us but have to say Spanish children are not that well behaved one night a girl ran past us and knocked the push chair over luckly baby not inside and she never even stopped just carried on running. To eat on site there is a restaurant usual Spanish Buffet which was 12 euro's each plus drinks have to say nothing is cheap in Mojacar took a bus to the big supermarket a couple of times and we were charged 10 Euro's in a taxi back which is a lot more expensive than what we would pay at home. If you are self catering and don't intend to eat in take plenty of money with you. All around the complex the rides ice creams and pool tables are expensive 2 euro for a game of pool 1 euro for the kiddy rides. Have to say a nice holiday but would definitely not go back to these apartments or Mojacar.

We have just come back and had a wonderful time. The apartments are basic but comfortable , the resort itself is very laid back but with plenty of places to eat.

Mojacar is not like the costa del sol so dont expect it to be but if you want a relaxing family holiday with good food and good entertainment in the complex then i would recommend the peublo indalo. There are a lot of steps in the complex but the higher up you are the more stunning the views which out outweighed for us the lugging of a pushchair up a 100 steps.

I should also give a special thanks to sami the first choice rep and Beth the kids club rep who not only helped us with whatever we needed but actually helped make it a fantastic holiday for our 3 year old who had never been abroad before and for us.
