This is a very nice three sided hotel. It has four storey accomodation with a good lift service. It faces a main road which leads from the fishing port of Garrucha town to Mojaca Playa. It's not a very busy road, at least it was'nt when we were there. Immediately across the road is a very long stretch of open beach. Not exactly San Tropez, but pleasant enough for an enjoyable morning or afternoon stroll.

The hotel staff are excellent. Don't expect them all to speak good English as they don't! But if you just learn a little holiday Spanish it goes a long way with them. They just could'nt help us enough. They are friendly and always polite. Whilst it is not for us to criticise the manners of English people; on at least two occasions I saw people approach the reception staff and immediately blurt out their problems without so much as saying, a simple and polite 'hello,' 'good day,' or 'can you help me? I don't think we like to be approached like that in our own country, so why do it in theirs? Just a personal criticism!

We visited in November/December, and the nights can be quite cold. They appear to be having some problems with the central heating in some of the rooms. Our complaints were quickly dealt with and we were moved to a very warm and cosy room and we were also presented with complimentary bottles of wine and cookies for our trouble.
On the subject of the rooms:they are quite spacious as indeed are the beds, and the maids keep the rooms spick and span. Incidentally there is a small fridge in the room (mini-bar) useful for storing your own drinks. They left us some complimentary bottles of pop and water in ours, which was decent of them. By the way there is tv in each room, but mostly Spanish tv. The English channel is the ridiculous BBC World, and a Eurosport channel.

There is only one downside to this hotel- for the unwary visitor. If you like the sun and want it on your balcony most of the day, which is what we went for in the early winter, you must try to aim for a room which is definitely south facing. The Spanish word is 'sur.' You won't want to be on the north facing side of the hotel. It overlooks the pool in part but not very enjoyable without the Spanish sun, which even in winter can get quite hot on the balcony in the early afternoon.

The restaurant and its staff were brilliant. We stayed for a week on a full board basis. We thought the food was top notch, considering we paid just less than £20 each per night, all found.
Can someone please tell me where in this country you can get value for money like that?
In the morning, in the restaurant, there is a chef available who will cook you crepes and eggs on a large open hot plate. If English bacon really is your bag, then take your own and keep it in your fridge I'm sure you will have no problem getting the chef to fry it for you. I think he would find it most amusing!

All in all, there is such a lot of variety in the food, that you would have to be a very difficult person indeed not to enjoy something that is on offer. I think I must have added 4lb to my waistline during the week of our stay.
In the week most of the guests seemed to be English people who were in the resort in order to buy property. At the weekend the Spanish turn up with their families, but we had no complaints about them. They are a bit loud in the restaurant, but 'hey' it's their country.

Getting to the hotel from Almeria airport at first seemed like an expensive prospect, but thanks to a car hire broker we were able to reserve a car which we rented at the airport for a week for £67,00. All we had to do was return it in one piece, full of petrol as it was full when we collected it, and at £3.00 a gallon that was no problem. I would recommend a car in any event, as there is not a great deal within the vicinity of the hotel and unless you want to walk from the bottom to the top of Mojaca pueblo, which we did on one occasion, it is quite a hike. Although a bus will take you to the top, and from there the views are most spectacular over the surrounding terrain.

Someone told us during our visit, 'that the discerning visitor does'nt choose Mojaca. Mojaca chooses you.' This was our first visit and we'll be back, god willing! Who knows maybe it has already chosen us!

Finally and incidentally, one day we were having an afternoon coffee (alfresco)in a very pleasant cafe in Mojaca Playa. When who should sit down near to us and order a coffee but none other than Sky tv's weatherman Francis Wilson. Apparently he owns a place there. You surely can't get a better recommendation than that for decent weather! And for the week when we were there, we never saw a drop of rain.

The Oasis Tropical is a real mixed bag.

The room allocated to us was first class towards the back of the hotel with golf course views. Furnishings were good, nice bathroom and maid service every day. All in all very comfortable.

The hotel itself was full of Spanish guests of unfortunate upbringing...they had absolutely no manners from the kids right up to the elderly adults...after a couple of days of complete ignorance you start to get a bit fed up with them picking up food with their fingers, queue jumping and holding ";normal"; conversations at the top of their voices

The restuarant is a free for all but on the positive side non-smoking. If you dine early before the Spaniards you do get a bit of peace, however, regardless of what time you eat the food is never hot....I think it must lie in the kitchen for 10 minutes before they bring it out.

The hotel entertainment is all in Spanish and is basically poor and as for the bar....you get better service and prices up at the golf club where a glass of wine and a pint is under 5 euros.

I played golf at the local course. If you book a tee after 2.30pm it's half price green fees. The 4th hole par 5 is absolutely fantastic from a 300 yard high elevated tee.

The hotel does try it's best with champagne breakfast every morning and a champagne dinner one night a week but it is badly let down by it's staff.

Having been to Mojacar before I still enjoy the resort and it's much better than Roquetas de Mar. I would go back again but outwith the Spanish school holidays and probably to a hotel nearer the Playa as the Oasis is just too far from anything to make it ideal.

Mojacar resort itself is a bus drive or car drive away from the hotel. You are at the far end of the resort. There are no shops or bars within walking distance of the hotel. The hotel however, more than makes up for the location.Hotel is spotlessly clean, the rooms are cleaned daily, and the grounds and swimming pool are well looked after. The food is fabulous, we stayed half board and the choice was excellent. Would recommend a trip up to Mojacar village, we went by bus a couple of times, the buses are cheap and run regularly. Take mosquito cream/spray though as we got bitten quite a bit.

We had a great week's holiday

This is a great hotel. I have no reservations at recommending it to anyone, especially at the rates we payed.
However it is a bit out of the resort.
There are now 3 swimming pools plus a kids pool.
The Spanish flock here at the weekend and so the food is even better then.
If this hotel wants to improve then they should look at the bacon at breakfast - it is dire and totally out of line with the other food on offer. I have got to say that everything is available at each meal time and is very nice.
This area of Spain must be a magnet for anyone interested in cranes, as there is lots of building work going on.

Recently returned from 2 weeks at the Best Hotel Oasis Tropical.

The hotel itself was fabulous.

The food was excellent, plenty of choice for all tastes. Room service very good, room was spotless on arrival and remained that way. The pools were beautiful and most welcoming - especially during the mid-day heat. Boy was it hot!!! Couldn't fault anything about it at all - except maybe its location.

On arrival my husband decided to take a walk out to get some water, whilst I unpacked. 50 minutes later he returned! The nearest shop was a good twenty minutes walk away. The hotel is situated right at the end of the resort, along with three or four other 4* hotels. Between the hotel and the nearest shop there is absolutely nothing. However, there is a bus service that operates every half hour, costing 75 cents, that will take you to the other end of the resort, where all the shops and bars are, taking 10 minutes.Be warned though, on its return it turns off and takes you up to the old town of Mojacar, before rejoining the road back to the hotel. This takes about half an hour.

The beach and sea are very clean, although it can be a bit choppy and a bit breezy.
All in all a very good holiday. I think I would leave it a little while before I returned, if only to give this part of the resort time to develop. A few shops and bars near to the hotel would just make it complete.

One of the best holidays we have ever had.

We all flew from manchester slight delay but nothing significant. When we arrived at our destination our rep met us showed us which coach and before we realised we were on our way. It is quite a long transfer 1hour 45 mins depending if they take you the coastal road or on the motorway, so time to cat nap or take in the scenery. Coach was air conditioned so the kids, my husband and my parents were more than confortable. Full marks to our rep John who gave us some details on the way and was happy to answer any questions.

Once at the hotel first impressions last, exactly as the brochure describes. Reception area clean and spacious and definately 4 star rating. So far so good. We were allocated our rooms (2 in total), and proceded up to the lifts, (there were luggage trolleys if you wanted to use them). Keys issued are the credit card type and activate the a/c. We were given sea view rooms even though we hadn't paid extra. The rooms were large and extremely clean. The was a minibar stocked with a few complementary drinks, two queen sized beds, safety deposit box (which needs you to go to reception to activate costing only 2.10 euros per day), bathroom with hairdryer and a tray full of complimentary bubble bath, shampoo, razors, shoe shine, tissues, comb, shower cap, soap etc etc so dont worry if you forget some essentials. These are refilled as you use them.

We unpacked luggage and our only critism was that there was not quite enough storage area but not a problem. Balcony was average sized with the usual chairs and tables oooh and not forgeting the all important spanish tv. Early morning calls and a laundry service were also available.
We were all well pleased with the rooms they even put us next to each other.

The pool area was fantastic, very clean and well maintained, life guard on duty. Only critism resevre sunbeds early morning with some towels, otherwise its difficult to get poolside important when there's kids with you. There is a pool bar close by serving the usual but no waiter service, we mostly took our own drinks no-one seemed to mind. Kids inflatables were only allowed if not too big so don't buy the giant croc for sale in the shop unless you want to use it as a sunbed by the pool.

The beach, 5 euros for a sunbed all day. Caution the tide can be qiute rough some days so always check out the flag system. But when calm its great to swim in, when you get past the pebbles (not really suitable for weak swimmers). Also it gets very hot down there take plently to drink if not there is a beach bar.

Food and drink in the hotel was delicious. A pint of local beer was 2.65 euros not as cheap as other places but cold and wet. Food in the restaurant well were do you start there's everything you could possible imagine. At breakfast (8 - 10.15am) full continental, english, cereals, tea, coffee, fresh friut juices, champangne, pastries, pancakes, fruit, cakes, bisciuts, yoghurts, bread etc etc. We never stuggled to find something different to eat.

At dinner (7 - 10.15pm) something different every night salads, fresh veg, fish, meats, pasta's, rice, potatoes, french fries, plus a bbq area were a chef cooks to your choice, plus a full range of cakes, fresh fruit, jelly, ice cream, cheese and biscuits. What more can we say there just everything, its very much like a cruise ship style buffet. My only advice is to get in early it can get very busy in there and sometimes in the morning people were queueing for breakfast. You can also ask for pack lunches which can be swopped for a meal on your meal ticket or at an additional cost.

The resort where the hotel is very quiet no shops bars etc, but this is what we wanted so this wouldn't suit the clubbing generation. The weather was hotter than the brochure quoted with most days 34-38C, so sun cream a must we found P20 good.

Hiring car is a must, we did this before travelling out, we had a renault megane scenic with the pull out seats in the boot for the kids (which still left plenty space for all that shopping). This cost us £229 for a week. Do explore the surrounding area, just drive, we saw some breathtaking views, we even travelled to Granada to the Alhambra palace well worth a visit. Driving main land spain was easy roads are great, not much traffic unless you drive through a village but then just follows the locals and watch out for the scooters. Do visit the old towmn of Mojacar (mohacker as it pronounced there) and go on market day there's some great bargains to be had. If you don't hire a car there are buses which are really cheap but the rep will give all that info. There's also a mini tonka train that takes you full length of the playa and back great fun and quite refreshing in the morning when its cool. It costs 4 euros for adults and 3 euros for kids.

Entertainment was good something different each night even bingo. There's a mini disco for the kids each night usually followed on with something else. During the day there is shooting, french boules, table tennis, and darts competitions for which you recieved a certificate for (if you want to join in its for both adults and the kids).

To sum up the spanish are a little rude but hey get over it. Not many speak great english but hey its spain. Don't be surprised to see naked men and women there are nudists beaches ha ha ha. This definately the place if you want to relax and have a great family holiday. We would definately go back again to this hotel. It is really was a lovely place to stay and enjoy 2 weeks in the spainsh sun.

The only other thing is take plenty insect repellent for the mosquitos they do bite lots we took anti-histamines which stops the itching and the skin reactions (swelling etc),zirtex for adults and the neo-clarytin syrup for kids.

Hope you enjoy as much as we did, The Woodcock and Fouracre Families.
