I just got back from a week staying at the Gran Vista Apartments in Mojacar. As i couldn't find any reviews on this site for the apartments before I went, thought would be helpful to leave something for others who are going to stay there.
It's about an hour and a quarter's transfer from Almeria airport. They are self catering rooms (about 40 in total on 2 floors), ours had a bedroom with 2 single beds, and a main room with 2 sofabeds. It is really peaceful and very relaxing, calm pool (open 10am - 7pm) the rooms were clean, fairly basic (we took our own stuff to clean the kitchen etc) the staff are really friendly and helpful, reception staff had great english and if you even try to speak spanish they will be far MORE helpful. staff changed the towels/bedding once in the week. the view is stunning (it's the last hotel in the resort, so just mountains either side of you, and very quiet) no views of building sites! all the rooms have a great view of the sea and the pool in front of it) yes there is a steep hill to reach it, but it's not a dirt track it's very smooth tarmac! don't stay there if you have trouble walking (or get a car!) there is a small supermarket in the sister hotel at the bottom of the hill.
this hotel should otherwise be avoided unless you want to hear tour reps singing the macarena with the kids ALL DAY LONG! if you want peace and quiet do not stay there! there are too many english restaurants with burger and chips but there are some good restaurants if you look harder. smugglers is good if you have to eat english! Lua bar is great for ?5 cocktails before 11pm! we loved it and would happily go back!
