"JULY 10TH TO 24TH 2008"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Well just got back, 10 of us, great holiday, pool cleaned daily, and noticed the pool attendant also checked the pool water every day, glad they do not charge for the sun loungers any more, jose in reception was yet again very helpfull, some new bars have opened and seem quite good, Flamingo's restaurant is a must and well worth trying. glad to see it is still a spanish resort where they are happy to have a holiday. have now booked for 9th october 2008

We found on our second visit to Almeria that it was quieter than 3 years ago .
Apts and area around pool etc very clean
Wish there had been a small shop on site to save the walk for water , bread etc .
Was surprised that you had to hire a toaster and kettle as they do not come as standard . Only down side was no air con .
Nice beach and walk to the busier bit of the resort Theos , coconut Bar and Happy Days all good .Papes was nice for icecream and pool table .
Not much for teenagers ,nice for young children if you are wanting to avoid the lager louts .This is where the Spanish come on holiday .
Golf course was very good , you can book at reception or at the golf course Watch for deals like free buggy hire .
All in all a good value relaxing holiday ,
late July and Aug very hot .

golf centre aparments are very basic the pool area is in bad need of cleaning.full of spanish familys with dogs and cats, dog dirt everywhere. the bar area is in much need of upgrade not much to do unless you walk at least 15 minutes to the so called centre. the place is for to big for young familys. we are here now and most of the people with us is bit alive by insects. so my advice would be to take a plug in replementfor bedroom at night.the rooms are also snbject to cockroaches.
also the hotel restuarant is not a good place to eat,as the bar has dogs in and out of the kitchen my husband eat chicken and was ill for 3 days.there no air condition in the rooms you have to hire fans, kettles, all that you expect to find in most holiday apartments.so my advice if you have booked try and get it changed.we are all just sitting waiting to get home on thursday.we compained to the rep but no joy as it was the high in holiday season to get moved.hope this helps.do not recommend!!!

Overall Hotel Rating:
We go every year around the July time and have done for the last 11 years, so we have witnessed many changes to the area. At this time yes there are quite a lot of flies, to avoid these when eating either eat indoors or under a fan. There are some really good restaurants all within walking distance to each other. There are a lot of bars to choose from, not to mention THEO'S where the entertainment is not to be missed. There are still bars that do Happy Hour where you buy one drink and get one free,at Marco's bar the Happy Hour starts from 10am till midnight.
The beaches are quite, no problem getting a sun lounger. The accomodation at the Golf Centre is clean, basic but very spacious. Two very good pools and are cleaned every day, there was a problem with the smell which was investigated while we were there, and it came from the stagnent pond on the golf course. with which the owner of the golf centre was trying to sort out with legal action against the owners of the golf course.
Yet again we have booked for 2007 (july) for fun in the sun.

Overall Hotel Rating:
We went into the impressive Bella Vista Mar Hotel to ask where to check in for these apartments and were pleasantly surprised when we were told that Mar y Golf apartments were part of the hotel. We were even more surprised when we reached the apartment, it was great. We stayed across the road in the Arena Centre the year before, which was very good, but the Mar y Golf apartment was bigger and much cheaper, less than twenty quid a night for a one bedroom!
The air conditioning was the best we'd had. The kitchen wasn't over equipt, there wasn't an oven but there was a big fridge/freezer, microwave and hob. The whole place is very clean, the pool area is lovely. The only negative thing I can think of is that the reception area and bar sometimes smelt a bit fishy from the buffet restaurant in the basement. The maids don't work at weekends but we asked for clean towels at reception and they were left in the bathroom shortly afterwards.
The resort itself is mostly Spanish with a few British bars. If you like a laugh and are broad-minded, visit Theo's Bar on a Sunday night for the drag show - hilarious, its round the corner from the Playa Azul Hotel, near the Gorilla. Also near there is El Bistro restaurant, great food. On the way to the Gorilla is a restaurant called Bodegon, also very nice.
If we go back to Roquetas de Mar we will definitely be staying at the Mar y Golf again.

Overall Hotel Rating:
Roquetas de mar is an excellent resort for familys and couples.
There are unlimited bars and restaurants.
If you like a good stake then you must try Wild Coyote, food is very good and the service is excellent. Also try coconut bar tropical were the staff look after you with free crisps and fresh fruit.
The Golf Centre is situated in the middle of a golf course, with wonderful views of the golf course or the Siarra Nevarda mountain range. The apartments have a very spanish feel and look to them, they are very clean and spacious. Lack of air con is the only down side, but fans are for hire from the hire shop. You could leave the windows open but their are quite a few bats and lizards about.
This was our second visit to Roquetas de mar, last year we stayed at the Hotel Neptuno wich was a very nice hotel and had air con, but the staff didn't speak much English.
The staff at the Golf centre were fluent in English and very helpfull.
July is very hot, June also hot but lots of flies about, due to the greenhouses on the outskirts.
Take a trip to the Puerto de roquetas. About 7 euro in a taxi from golf centre. This is the original fishing port were there are lots of fish restaurants, and anice boat trip wich lasts 90 minutes with sardines and sangria.
This resort is a very relaxing place with no yobs or larger louts to spoil the holiday.

Just wanted to put the record straight - yes the beach is shale but beautiful and nice to walk on - golf centre resort is picture postcard - apartments are lovely size and area very clean - 600 walk down one road and you are smack bang in the middle of about a mile long road - with bars and restaurants left and right- quiet but nice - food nice and plenty of choice(nothing too exotic) Recommend it - no mad nightlife (but bars serving until around 1.00 a.m. and later) - very serene and very nice. Nothing much for teenagers but in my experience they entertain themselves. Our son met around 15 friends from our apartments and they entertained each other. Few games machines and pool table in the bar and the only downside is Karaoke everywhere - but we managed to avoid it and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Weather in Almeria fab most of the time too!

Overall Hotel Rating:
Hotel very dated, paint peeling off the walls, very noisey due to an extremely high ceiling.
The staff can speak very little english and are very rude.
Rooms are dirty, the ceiling in the bathroom was falling down with wires visible.
Food is a definate no no, birds in breadcrumbs and fish with heads, do i need to say more!!!!!!!!!!!!The only good thing about the hotel is that it's very central to Roquetas and virtually on the beach.
If you want a nice hotel go to the Arena Center or the Neptuno but only stay in the Golf Trinidad if you want a holiday from hell.
I booked with Airtours the rep was very rude and unhelpful

Overall Hotel Rating:
this is not a holiday resort that you or i have ever encountered before or would consider to be a holiday resort!
roquetas is disgusting it is beyond belief as far as your eye can see it has miles of plastic polytunnels to grow fruit and veg. ugly and it has also proved to be a hazard as the fly population is second to none. all three of us became ill due to this fact. you cannot escape them during the months of june until september something all tour operators are not telling you. in my mouth in my ears hair all over my body not just the odd few get the picute and yes some do bite as they are horse-fly. you cannot relax as you are flicking them off all day and into the night.
the streets have so much rubbish as no one uses a bin or seems to clear the rubbish in the street. it is dirty and disgusting. Bins are overflowing plus cat and dog muck everywhere. we as a family will never go back we are still trying to recover from being ill. there is a sewerage problem at the golf centre apartments 24/7 you can smell the drains as they are not clear this gives you a headache and makes you feel sick it is constant smell of human poo/pee and in the heat you can imagine, unbearable as it is boiling. the only place we found by driving out of the resort that was decent and more to what we expected was mojacar resort.
driving the other way you had to go as far as almuncar to get away from the ugly polytunnels not mentioned in any brochure i picked up. the pool area was not cleaned often enough and there were complaints on the food served at the golf centre. now for the small plus sides the apartment was big enough no air con though and excessive charges for a fan as you can buy one in the gran plaza for just over 6 euro. nice golf course and quiet. but this is not a holiday resort i or my family would never ever go to almeria again.
please heed this warning as it has been a really bad experience and to have the holiday rep make jokes about taking home the flying friends we made in a jar, just added insult to injury. by day three of this break we all wanted to come home. there is also not much in the way for teenage kids. if you have children in prams you take you life into your own hands as traffic and parking are a nightmare and not one person stops on a zebra crossing for you unless the are a visiting from another country they even park on the crossings? p.s the sunbeds are 1.50 euro by the pool each a day to hire and the germans just move them if they want your space. yep, they do not just move your towel but the whole bed.
so you have to have a guard there if you get up to go to the loo or get an icecream? all in all this has been a nightmare so if you can afford a few more pounds go to somewhere better than this. it is not a resort in our opinion. it is for farming and urban not nice at all you cannot swim in the sea as far too dangerous for kids and for many adults and the beach is just horrible grit. also since the euro you pay as much for most things as you do back home. so i will be looking for something far nicer than the golf centre apartments and almeria as this is not a holiday resort that is clean and pleasant or nice to spend your valuable time off in.

Overall Hotel Rating:
The apartment for us was ideal. We found them clean, even though they are very basic, they are not air-conditioned but you can hire fans from the reception, which we did, it was worth it. Switch the fans, tv etc off when you are cooking with the cooker as it wont take it (the trip switch will go) You also get the safe key from reception.
There are a lot of cats around, so an apartment on the second floor is better as they can't get in, also you get a better view, we had a view of the golf course, which was lovely. There are no lifts but the stairs was not that bad.
Our apartment was cleaned once while we were there (a week we stayed), and they did a good job, all the towels and the sheets were changed, we ran out of toilet roll but if you see the cleaner around just ask for some and you will get (if you dont see them, take a big enough bag with you to the toilets when you are out and about and help your self!! There are some things you have to do!!)
The swimming pool is the best i've ever seen, as i'm not keen on water this was ideal, it slopes for a while until you get to the deep area, I was able to enjoy the pool by lying in the sloping part while the rest of the family was just nearby in the deep area enjoying a swim, GREAT, there is also a pool for toddlers.
We only had a meal there once as we were out every night we also cooked ourselves for some meals, the food we had was good and plenty of choice.
Be aware of the times the reception is open, they do close at some stage in the afternoon, just ask and they will tell you when they are not there, we found him to be very helpful.
The resort we found to be great, with plenty of bars and places to eat, we ate in the 'La Grappa' a couple of nights, which was lovely. If you have fussy eaters as we have the 'Happy Days' is ideal as they serve british food, even the bacon is the same as home, so we went there a couple of mornings to feed the youngest up with a massive breakfast!
The beach was ok,but the children was not so keen as it is not a snady beach, myself I thought it was great as you didnt have sand in every nook and corner after, we went to the beach around 5 and stayed until 8.30 one night as the heat was too intense in the day time, but even this time of night you had people still in the sea, it was a better time to go and a lot more enjoyable.
I heard a lot about problems with flies, but when we were there we had no problems at all, there wasnt any more there than there would be at home, even though talking to a couple which had arrived a week before us said that the flies was bad the week before we arrived, I think it might be hit and miss.
We would go there again and stay and the same apartment, we had a truly lovely and relaxing time, which we needed.

Overall Hotel Rating:
We had a week in Roquetas de mar and didnt know which hotel until we got there and were allocated one. When we found out we thought`Wow ,thats a great looking hotel`.But when we got to the room things waned a bit.
As has been said before, the decorations were needing an update. The Bathroom ceiling looked like it was ready to fall in and was rusty. Two of the glass louvres to the bathroom window had very sharp broken edges to them and the shower head (which needed cleaning) didnt fit the fitting on the wall so if you turned it on too quick ,it spun round and the whole room got drenched. Our room was 315 overlooking the tennis court on the third floor and yes we could hear the machinery throbbing from the new hotel next door. Also we overlooked the outside stage which was novel on the first night but the cabaret started at 10pm and finished at midnight. This coupled with the just as loud sound from the Disco/Cabaret next door meant we had to have the patio door shut, which wouldnt have been bad if the air conditioning was any good-which it wasnt. The TV wasnt satellite and had no remote so it was one volume only. The radio was knackered 70`s style and didnt work despite having some promising looking Bose speakers. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were well cleaned and spotless after the maids had left. Two out of the three lifts were only out of order one night. The computer stations were out of order for three days.
The breakfasts were only ok with ,for want of a better word,Snotty scrambled egg, very greasy bacon and fatty sausages-i still ate it though!Main meals at night were ok with a choice of meals but the sweets were plain boring with the first night being caramel custard which was the same as i had in Torrimolinos in the 70`s with my parents. One night we had to go in at 9.30pm instead of 7.00 when most of the brits went and it was like a cattle market.Same with breakfast with the tea/coffee/orange/ etc all coming from machines which wasnt too good.drinks were free in the morning but you had to buy from the bar at night which i thought was off as we would have been happy with a glass of orange or a Coffee.
The pools were good and not overused as there is plenty of room.As usual ,if you want a sunbed ,you have to claim it before breakfast. The staff were polite but the pool guy didnt want to know when i thought there was a dead cat in the pool.As it turned out it wasnt as all cats/kittens were accounted for but i still dont know what it was hovering about a foot up from the bottom.
The resort itself is fabulous-clean-the roads were good (we hired a car)and the beaches were raked every morning. Our holiday was about 1/3 off the brochure price so we soon got used to the places little foibles and compensated.

We stayed at the apts for one week on the 20 june 2006.
The apts are fine although the site I booked thru said they have Air conditioning and they do not. The pool area is kept very clean with a small charge for the sunbeds, not a great deal of umberellas so get down early if you need one.The biggest problem we had was the FlIES and the SMELL
The flies eat you alive at the pool so bad one day we had to go back to apt .When you go out at night they are on your food and in your drink We have been to the resort before in Sept with no problem so must be time of year.
The smell of raw sewage at times was dreadful ( so bad one night I woke up and got sick ) Not bad all the time just a whiff now and then but dreadful when it was there. We were told that there is a sewage treatment plant nearby so that solved reason for the smellWe would go back to the resort but not the apts . Somewhere upwind of the sewage tanks next time

Overall Hotel Rating:
The golf center apartments are very basic, the apartment was on the third floor with no lifs and it was a bit difficult with a 2 year old a buggy and three suit cases to get up the stairs. It over looked the golf course which was lovely. The water was heated by a boiler which played up everytime you had a shower and had to keep being relight, also on a few occasions i found maggots in the bath which we think were comning from a vent over the bath. We were there 5 days before the cleaners came in and we had to go and buy more toliet rolls and bins bags. Also i can sleep anywhere after a few drinks but the beds were the most uncomfortable beds i have ever slept in and had a bad back all week.
The kitchen was big and had four gas rings and only two worked also an oven which didn't work. The pool by are apartment was empty, but there was a bigger which was really nice only thing you had to pay 3 euros for two sunbeds. The resort is really nice lovley beaches, the sand is shingly and the sea is a bit wavey so unsuitable for children., but a lovely breeze as it was really hot some days 28 degrees. Loads of bars and resturants to suit everyone of all ages. Happy days has cheap drinks two beers for 380 euros and the meals were cheap the kids ate there neally every night. Carol and bob run happy days and make a real effort to make you feel welcolme and carol was good with kids and they loved her. There is a nice chinese on the opposite side of the street to happys days and it was cheap and nice and they do takeaway.
We have booked to go back in september but will stay in the arena apartments as these looked really nice and have all good reviews.

We arrived on 12/01/06 to the mar y golf hotel which we tried for the first time.normally we use the golf centre , but scince antonio has left the reception and gone on to better things..well please d for you tony9your mate russ),p.s.the golf centre is still run by miserable staff at the bar as we popped in and had a quick beer, and it was quick, ive never seen a place go down hill so much.anyway back to mar y golf hotel, the price was superb as we done it on the net.we arrived to reception via bel vista mar hotel and was greeted with a warm and friendly welcome.we got in our room and it was superb, large, very clean.the linen was changed every day and the place was fully equipped.views of the mountains and golf course at front, and swimming pool at rear.we were on the 3rd floor but no hassle as lift was there and it was better being higher as the views were great.
we liked the place that much we have booked again for the middle of may this year..its allways quite this time of year and we never visited places we normally do as they were closed...all i can say is thank heavens the m25 bar was open from morning till night,,i will promise anyone who goes in there tha you will not get a better reception from barry and jackie anywhere in roquates.two smashing people run this bar/food and the home made food is as good as you get at home, the internet is avaliable all day and thats a big help..we ate many times here and the prices are very good.hope you got the cd i sent you jackie..weather not as warm as may onwards but it was winter, still nice though to play golf in a t-shirt in january..had a few nights in el biz but sadly i understand its now closing, good luck for the future val and emilio.another place to mention for the best steak in town was wild coyte , its top banana , and a good price , and a lovely meal was had by all..the owner is georgous as well..
well cant wait till we get back on may 11th , so to all my friends in roquates thanks again for keeping the boys happy,,,russ 47,tom 48/andy 40/reggie 29...
"Hotel Golf Trinidad review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Charming resort, easy to walk around, superb clean beaches that go on for miles. Plenty of bars and restaurants, nightlife fairly low key. The resort is mainly full of Spanish holiday makers which sets it nicely apart from the rowdy / drunken 18-30s brigade. The local buses are frequent and easy to use. We would go back to the area for a nice relaxing holiday anytime.
As for the Golf Trinidad itself, it does not live up to the brochure description or its three star rating considering the standard of surrounding hotels. The food was cold boring and repetitive with not a lot of selection or imagination. Saying that the hotel inside albeit in great need of refurbishment was kept very clean.
