This is the second time that I have stayed at the bali and even though my first visit was good,3yrs ago it has improved a lot since then. I was a solo traveller as i was visiting family who live in Benalmadena and i had a twin room which was very spacious with room cleaned daily, clean towels daily too. I stayed half board and found the food very good with plenty of choices, sometimes spoilt for choice

I have visited this hotel once in february and found that although i didnt find any particularly bad points there were not so many fantastic ones either. The rooms were very spacious and the pool area was very large although it went at a quite time i still think in summer there would be plent of room around it. I also found the staff to be excellent and service good. The bad bits were the food - there was not a lot of choice at all, you had to queue up to get your drinks as you went into the restaurant and also this queue was sometimes quite long as there was only one serving! Finally once you did chose what you want i didnt find the food particularly hot, it was not freezing but id probably say warm. Lastly it is up a very steep hill and not ideal for older people with mobility problems.

The hotel itself was okay until you got in the bedrom and the bathroom was worse, neds a major makepver, bathrom needs a lot of maintenance, location of the hotel was awful, I'm mid 30's and quite fit but struggled each and every day to be bothered to walk down to the beach, I enjoy a gentle strol in the afternon not a mountain treck.

"Hotel Bali, Benalmadena"

As our first trip abroad with our 18 month old son, we couldn't have asked for a better hotel. The staff are fantastic and very welcoming especially with the children. The choice of food at breakfast and dinner is amazing - well cooked and something for everyone. The standard of food is very high and we had delicious meals every day. The pools are lovely with a baby pool for the little ones. We stayed out of season, just before the kids club was open but the room looked lovely with lots of toys and activities, we will try to go back next time when he can join in with this. The rooms are pretty basic but comfortable and clean, the only problem we had were the balconies did not feel particularly safe for our boy and the door to the balcony was not very secure. The location is great, near to the town, beach, public transport and days out. There is a walk up/down a hill and some steps to get to the beach and back but it's not as traumatic as some make it sound! We had such a good time we have booked to go back again this year and can't wait, would recommend it to anyone because for the price it can't be beaten on quality and value.

We booked this holiday only a week before going and have not been to this resort area before. The hotel is at the top of "cardiac hill" and it is hard going to try to walk all the way up from the beach without a rest but not too bad from the main road and bars. The hotel staff were very good and friendly. Food was good and plentiful with lots of choice, the only problem in this area being the queues for tea and coffee in the mornings. The rooms are very dated and the walls were very thin making it very noisy at times. Our mattresses were also feeling their age and the springs were felt through the thin padding, however we did see a pile of new mattresses in the garage under the hotel so it looks like they are replacing some of them. Having said that, the hotel was very very clean and room service was exemplary, the maids very efficient and clean towels whenever you need them also clean sheets almost every day. Plentiful hot water from the shower/bath and a few toiletries free as well. The staff seem to be making alot of effort for the guests so that the other things didn't seem to matter so much. We were well fed and the heating was good, and we felt that we had definately had value for our money, except that drinks were quite expensive in the hotel but they had three happy hours each week. Entertainment was average but they did make an effort. Bars around the hotel were alot cheaper. The hotel is situated a short walk from the marina which is well worth a visit and the resort itself is lovely and well situated for visiting other areas. One last note - if you want to avoid excess baggage charges on the flight home add at least 3kg to the weight given on the scales at the hotel. We were told by the thomson rep that if we weighted our cases then we could fill them with our drinks allowances up to the full allowances. We only had 2.5kg spare capacity left between us so did not put anything extra in our luggage but still got stung at the airport for being over weight. so watch out even if you don't take anything extra back ( we didn't buy anything and used up alot of toiletries) - on the way out no comment was made or extra charges levied but on the way back the scales at Malaga weigh heavier than those at the hotel or those at home airport. It therefore cost us 45 euros so watch out!

"Ideal Family Hotel"

We really enjoyed our stay at the Bali. We were in a studio which was much bigger than I imagined and nicer than other studios I've been in. Yes the decor is dated but if you're happy with the price you're quoted I would say it's well worth the money. We were s/c but ate in the restaurant twice as it was excellent, the snack bar was ideal too. Drinks a little pricey but what you expect from hotels and with the euro rate. Animation team were excellent, worked very hard and always lots going on. We saw a few of the shows and most were good, only a couple were disappointing.

I can’t believe the negative comments read here on hotel Bali. While I would accept that the rooms in block 2 could use a refurb, the rooms where cleaned daily and towels replaced. While basic the bathroom had endless hot water at a pressure often lacking in some hotels. We woke up went to breakfast, returned to room to fall back into bed so any room short comings was no big issue. Food always hot and plentiful never had to queue for table, always 2 soups on plus other starters, if any food failing it would be lack of variety in other starters. Although chips where always there, there was always another option be it, pasta, rice of potatoes done some other way. Never had any trouble getting a lounger or brolly at either pool area (Adult and kids pool at either side of block 2), the food from pool bars was only adequate but you are only 5 mins from a dozen excellent places to have lunch time snack or meal. Youngest children loved kids club, the evening entertainment was a mix of in house and bought in shows these on the whole where of good quality and the in house team where certainly the hardest working of any I have seen in my 30 years of visiting the Costa’s.

"Tired and Dated"

Overall Hotel Rating:

Poor

Open quote

We booked this on internet based on reviews. Now that we've been, it begs belief what some people have written about this place. What springs to mind is 'what terrible holidays have people had when they rate this place at all?' The building is the usual concrete structure and internall painted concrete. The rooms are very basic. Bathrooms are terrible. The staff are horrendous and lack basic P.R. skills. The food is the worst I have ever experienced in my 44 years. The 'entertainment' is tacky attempts by the holiday reps. Ever felt you have been completely ripped off? Then this is it !

The Costa Del Sol is so, so tired and dated and needs major infastructure and revamped. One marina will not save the place from ruin. If you have not booked your holiday yet, go to Salou. I've been round the world twice. Benalmadena is not the worst but it's in the lower half of decent places.

"Great Hotel"

I booked this hotel on the internet for myself and 7 friends, 4 of us went for 4days and the other 4 for a week it was to celebrate mine and Linda's 60th birthday, I was extremely pleased with the results, except for cardiac hill, but we soon mastered it. The food in the hotel was very very good (had to go on diet when I got back) the 2 pools were very clean and plenty of sun beds, the staff could not do enough to ensure you had a pleasant stay. We found a lovely bar the Bonanza bar which had live entertainment on our last night (typical) it is in Bonanza square just a short walk from the hotel. I would certainly return to this hotel never mind cardiac hill. I have stayed in 4star hotels but food in the Bali is far superior. I would recomend this hotel unless you are disabled which my husband is (which is I went with the girls). Had a great time.

This is my second visit to the Bali hotel. I first visited in June 2006. All in all a very good family friendly hotel. Clean and tidy. Some rooms are a bit old fashioned but very clean. Good maid service, clean towels etc. Food is plentiful and something for everyone. Pool areas all nice and plenty of sun loungers. Thomsons Kidzone club was once again very good although times were a bit distrupted due to industrial action over the week we were there. Hotel entertainment team work so hard to keep everyone busy! I have no compaints about the hotel or its staff. What you pay for is what you get. Cheap and cheerful!
