Accommodation itself was excellent and could not be faulted. We were very impressed with Hotel when we arrived. Apartment was clean and tidy and kept that way throughout our 2 week stay. Where the hotel is situated (at the top of a windy hill) is a bit awkward and out of the way to venture to neighbouring Fuengirola and Benalmadena so we hired a car (through reception - very helpful)to get us out and about. We tended to go down to the Holiday Village at the foot of the hill for entertainment in the evening (not sure if we were actually allowed to, but no one said otherwise)as the kids loved it and we thought the reps put on great shows and discos for kids and adults.
We had access to the beach club, which was also at the foot of the hill over a bridge. This was great for all the family during the day as it has about 6 different pools and ample sun bathing areas.
Some downsides - hotel supermarket was extremely pricey. Service at Palace/Village bars was very slow, but that seems to be the same all over the Costa Del Sol.
Looking at this resort it is basically an unfinished item, there is a plan for 10 hotels in total aswell as a train station and water park. When this is complete it will be a very interesting complex, until then I would recommend the Village over the Palace as it is better sited for the Beach Club and access to the main roads.
The Palace is very nice and may suit people looking for a quiet time, we only really used the hotel to sleep in!
We spent a fortune but that was because we did every attraction we could get to. The crocodile farm in Torremolinos was very good, the water park next to it was way too busy. The other water park in Fuengirola was better, still busy but at least the lines moved faster.
Fuengirola zoo is interesting, the cable car up the mountain at Benalmadena has stunning views and a FREE Donkey ride for the kids. Tivoli world amusement park is fine for the younger kids but there is not much white knuckle stuff for the older ones. Sea life centre in Benalmadena is probably not worth the cash.
We went to Gibralter too, amazing view from the rock and cool to be that close to the Apes.
Thats it, if I went back to the area I would stay in the Village but there is nothing wrong with the Palace.

Arived at our hotel but had to wait 45mins due to our room not being ready (bit of a dissapointment but hey so what, i'm chilled now i'm away from home). Eventually got into our room, 1 card per person so freedom to roam for our son, 4th floor excellent. My good night must be the best room ive ever stopped in and ive been abroad to different countries a number of times, Bedroom oversized single beds next to each other, seperate kitchen, double bed in lounge and 2 yes 2 balconys(We had a corner room with a fantastic view of the mountains but a better view of the sea, FANTASTIC). The side balcony looking towards the mountains was of a usuall size but the main balcony overlooking the sea was huge, we could have had a party for all the hotel guests.
Restaurant only average, decent bar and small supermarket, hotel pool and outside bar/cafe good, but entertainment was a bit of a miss though.
The hotel is situated in a lovely position but it is up a steep hill approx 750 meter walk but the positve points outway the negative points. Beach club at the bottom of the hill is a must for people of all ages.
Fuengerola and Benemaldena are built up which put us of as we like small port like resorts but we kept out of the way mainly by stopping in the hotel. Different people like different things though.

Entertainment in hotel so poor everyone went out, such a big hotel noone ever around. Supermarket and resturant in hotel very expensive kids club charge 10 euro per night and there was a charge of 2 euro to play football and other day time games and a charge to use hotel indoor pool. this location is an absolute disgrace nothing around but dust and noise off the building work.
we will never return to costa del sol.

On arrival at the Serenis Palace May 22,2005, we were amazed at palacial surroundings we found ouselves in, having only booked 7 days prior. The rooms were of good size but would find it difficult to fit 5 comfortably which is what they are supposed to accommodate. The reception staff were very polite and helpful and we booked in very quickly which is a first for us.
We found the entertainment in the evening very basic and after the first couple of days didnt bother again. The bar prices and supermarket prices are extortionate compared to anywhere else we have stayed in Benalmadena, and we have visited Benalmadena at least once every year within the last 10 years sometimes more.
The hotel is situated at the top of a very long and winding hill and would not be suitable for anyone who isnt fully fit. Walking down was not too bad but getting back up is a nightmare when its hot. The hotel does supply a mini bus which runs between 10am and 6pm for 1.5 euros per day and you can make as many trips as you like but are limited then to how long you stay out. This may be ok for families with children who dont go out of an evening, but we found it very expensive having to use taxis every day. If you missed the bus at 6pm then a taxi charges 4euros to get back up the hill although a taxi into Benalmadena centre is 10 euros and that is all we offered. We thing that this mini bus should run till at least midnight and be free until the resort is finished,
The restaurant wasnt recommended to us so we ate out most days and there are some wonderful little spanish restaurants in Fuengerola where you can get a 3 course meal for about 6 euros.
The security at the bottom of the hill was a nightmare. We have family who live in spain (brother-in-law is spanish) and they were not allowed to visit us without a problem unless the paid for a day pass. The problems there are too detailed to go into and a bit more commiunication between security and reception would have solved lots of the problems we encountered.
As mentioned, we spent every evening in Benalmadena and can recommend some wonderful places to visit. The first being a british bar called The Albatross run by Jim and Allan with Tanya their reliable barmaid. A really welcoming place with a friendly atmosphere. Secondly, if you like a bit of nightlife and are fan of the Drifters, you must visit Moonlighters which is about 50 yards from the Albatross, and stays open late late every evening, Ron Terre, who is the last remaining original Drifter owns the bar and puts on a show there at least four times a week which is the some of the best entertainment in Banalmadena. He has lots of supporting acts every night one of which is probably the best female solo artist in the the Costa del Sol, Alexander Avery is the most energetic and entertaining lady I have ever heard and so talented. Moonlighters is well worth a visit, even for the Kareoke with Kenny High Note. Been there every year for the last five years and it only gets better.
To summarize: The Serenis Palace is definitely a four star hotel but in a one star location at present, once the complex is finished it may be a different story, but we shall see.
This hotel was GREAT the staff were friendly. It was always clean the maids changed beding every day and cleaned up all day everyday.
You also have the 2sister hotels what you can use but its down a steep hill!!!
The only thing about the hotel is ...

The only thing about the hotel is its location it cost 10euros a nite to get in to centre which isnt bad.. so the hotel is better if you are wanting to be out the way of the hustle of the centre or if you just want a peaceful holiday....
Benalmadena is excellent a lot of hen/stag weekends were going on..
Benalmadena it self is cheap. if you go there make sure you visit the cafe/resturant Gypsy's is lovely and very very cheap.....
BUT one thing not to do is go to Gibalter it is rubbish yeah its cheap but the amount you pay to get there you can only bring 200fags and 1 litre of alchol n one bottle of perfume so WOULD NOT recommend it...
But it was brilliant and booking up to go back in a few months.......
