"think before booking,butlins with sun."
Overall Hotel Rating:
where have the people who rate this hotel above 2 stars been staying on previous holidays? HOTEL: Clean, very basic hotel, paper thin walls you can hear everything from outside and inside, Only 1 english channel on rooms tv,CNN News. FOOD: Where do i start? We are not fussy eaters but the food was shocking 2/10 thank goodness for chips! As for previous reviews commenting that you can always find something to eat, I do not want to find something to eat i would like to choose from a nice selection. The hot food you could select from consisted of a choice from 1 fish, 1 meat and 1 veg option the childrens selection even worse, a choice from 3 things, 1 being pasta and the other 2 unrecognisable. Puddings were ice cream served in plastic cartons or a cake option this was every day. Food was only luke warm. If you really want toast for breakfast be very patient only 2 toasters for the whole hotel waiting time upto 15 mins. DRINKS: Be aware of a wait before you are served a drink, counted upto 30 people in drinks queue at any time with only 1 or maximum 2 serving at any time, as for the glasses iv,e seen bigger test tubes. ENTERTAINMENT: Eyes down look in! Bingo, Bingo,Bingo, plus miming to songs, really shocking, only popped our head around the door on occasion but that was enough. Day time entertainment i cannot comment went to the beach every day to escape. STAFF: Happy and helpful, rooms always cleaned. Hotel was mainly spanish people, around 90% no real problems as we only used the hotel for the room. BEACH: A life saver,Got up went to the beach, sea safe for children, slightly pebbly as you walk in but not a problem, had fun in the waves. Gardens pleasant around the hotel, pool to small and full of lilos etc LOCATION: Bus stop to the front of the hotel, 1 euro per person to the centre of the resort. Taxi costs 8 euros, horse and carraige 35 euros. We tended to get the bus into the centre approx 15 min ride. We walked back at night it is a nice flat walk along the sea front but is a minimum 45 min walk. Would we go back? Not a chance, rather work than return, better standard of hotel in Greece or Turkey. Please read this and think very care fully if you are thinking of booking, we are a normal working class family and have travelled europe staying in AI hotels for the last 9 years, i honestly dont know where people have been staying if they rate the hotel.

"Good value for money"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Well worth the visit, a friendly hotel in a good location. Just on the outskirts of Fuengirola main town is a realistic 40 min walk (in 40c temperature). Food to a good standard, well presented. Beautiful gardens leading down to the front. Very relaxed environment altogether. No critiscism of the hotel, when you bear in mind it is a few years old, and there are signs of improvments commencing now. Compliments to the animacion team who seem to work constantly.

"Great for relaxing!!"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Myself and my boyfriend went here in May - it wasnt too crowded but the weather was still lovely. We went All Inclusive for 1 week and enjoyed ourselves. Although the hotel itself isnt in the hustle and bustle of fuengirola its easy to get on the bus the go into the village or further afield. We did get annoyed at the fact that all the sunbed's had towels on them by 6.30 am!!!!! and given it wasnt that busy all the beds were still taken - I can only imagine what it would be like in peak season! However despite this and the food not being over exciting the drinks were good and the people seemed very nice both other guests and the staff. I would definately go again so long as I wasnt planning on just sunbathing all day. Instead I would recommend it for couples who would like to walk to see things and explore around the hotel more often than being in it.

"Decent hotel"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Very clean hotel, staff friendly on the whole, entertainment not too bad, stay on afterwards to watch the all-spanish disco!! Food plentiful, I found something I could eat each time, even though I'm rather a fussy eater. Drinks fine, take your own tea-bags if you're used to UK tea, cocktails ready-mixed - not so good though. Bus stop right outside. Train station 1/4 hr walk away. More disappointed with resort than hotel as was hubby.

"Lovely Jubbly"
Overall Hotel Rating:
I made a booking at this hotel after reading other people’s views and I have to say I was not disappointed in the Gardenia Park at all. The on arrival the reception staff were very helpful and we were in our rooms after 10 minutes. The room itself was basic but very clean and the towels and bedding changed every day, in fact the whole hotel was clean as the cleaners are very thorough, in fact I found the staff friendly considering how hard they work, especially giving drinks out every 2 mins, must be boring. The food was good and there is something for everyone, a good choice each day, also a good selection of drinks are included (if only local) including cocktails and wine in the all inclusive package. The pool area is its only downfall to me, a little noisy at times when the activities start and the pool is on the small side for the size of hotel. I found the gardens more relaxing and quiet and give a good view of the beach. The night time entertainment was fair and the animation team do a good job considering they are amateur. Bingo is on every night if that is your kind of thing and up to 300 euros can be won. The hotel has a lot of Spanish guests who tend to be rude and loud and have no control over their children. The hotel itself is on the outskirts of the resort in an area called Torreblanca and is a good half to an hour walk to the centre from the hotel. If you wish to go by bus the stop is just outside the hotel which will take you into town for 1 euro. The train station is a short walk away and you can visit Benalmadena, Torremolinos and Malaga for a few euros. As for trips there is a good travel agent about ½ mile right from the back of the hotel and their prices are good and their tour guides are excellent. All in all a good value hotel. WATCH OUT FOR TIME SHARE!

"FABULOUS HOLIDAY"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Just got back from a week at the Hotel Gardenia Park. My partner and I had a fabulous holiday. Food was great and plentiful as was the drink. I am not a fussy eater at all and could always find more than one thing to eat at each meal. The hotel is very well kept, the gardens are lovely and all areas were always clean and tidy. The rooms cleaned everyday with fresh towels. The pool area does get filled with families with kids, which is fine, but as me and my partner didn't have kids with us we quite happily sunbathed on the terrace which was more private.
There were a lot of Spanish there but in most cases were never a problem.
The only negative thing I would say isn't about the hotel but something that put a dampner on our last night, and that was the 'Lager-louts' we had in the room 2 doors up from us and their friends directly next door who had no consideration for anyone else in the hotel. Whistling in the corridors at 3 in the morning, singing at the tops of their voices (very badly) at 3 o'clock in the morning, shouting to each other and banging the balcony at all hours, not to mention their inability to close the door without slamming it. We didn't get a wink of sleep that night. Luckily enough we were leaving the next morning otherwise I am sure something would have been said. Everyone in the hotel would know who they were as they advertise the fact that they are louts by hanging flags on the balcony (OH DEAR)!!
Anyway the hotel staff can't control who books into their hotel, but we were told by a couple at breakfast that if we had complained to reception they do sort things out quite swiftly so had we have stayed longer we certainly would have.
In summary - this is a fantastic family hotel, kids club is fab (and we didn't take any kids with us). Food and drink fantastic, staff great. Weather great. Holiday Fabulous.

"hotel gardenia park"
Overall Hotel Rating:
we have just returned from a weeks hoilday in the hotel gardenia, well after reading reports was more than nervous about going. all i can say is that we were pleasantly suprised. firstly reception staff were friendly and helpful when u asked anything of them. rooms were spotless and cleaned every day with fresh towels left also. this was our first time going all inclusive, and we will definitly be going again, food was excellent and always a good vareity. alway meat, fish and pasta options, also as much salad and rice, chips etc as you could eat. lunch and dinner were always a three course option if you could manage it. all inclusive meant just that as much drinks as you wanted and you could get as many as 4 at a time, so you were'nt constantly standing in queues. entertainment a bit dated but not that bad and the staff were always enthusatic. as this is mainland spain, you have an awful lot of spanish tourists, but we had no problems with them other than they shout to each other rather than speak.
if we have any complaints, it is that the hotel is not actually in fuengirola, it is in torreblanca, and takes you a good 35 to 40 minutes to get right in to fuengirola centre. it is 7 euro in a taxi. lifts in hotel were a nightmare, when one eventually did come it had a mind of its own. also pool not big enough for size of hotel.
all in all we a fanastic time, and would have no doubts about using this hotel again.

"Skeggy with Sun !! "
Overall Hotel Rating:
After just returning from a weeks stay at the Hotel Gardenia park we found the hotel to be plain and just below average the food very below average and we are not fussy people (but what the heck is flemish stew and i'd only go back next year if i got a street trading licence to give cockroach rides on the beach !!!) the rooms were clean but a bit outdated and the lifts were slow , the staff were ignorant and the other spanish guests tried to take over at the weekend and were rude and ignorant too . The entertainment was again below average but the animation staff work really hard. The hotels location is once again average with a long walk needed to get into fuengarola its self the worst holiday i've experienced , went sunday and was counting the days down to get home by wednesday. some families had the extra burden of a sickness bug . Glad to be home. Now back home having t-shirts printed 'we've had a week in fuengirola and survied' Next year trying Scarbourough haha

"Gardenia Park"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Thirteen days of wall to wall sunshine and very good accommodation. Breakfast very good and dinner well prepared, with a good variety of dishes. Free wine on tap in the dining room for all guests, not just all in people. The red is a bit thin but the white is fine. A bottle of good Rioja is just 3 euros if you dont like the free stuff.A bit noisy round the pool with pop and rap music playing from 11.00 till 18.00. Rooms large clean and comfortable but no fridge, bidet or hairdrier. Staff pleasant and helpful. Bus stop outside the front and the beach outside the back.We really enjoyed this holiday and will definitely return to this hotel.

"Hotel Gardenia Park review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We have just returned from a fabulous time here, the hotel is situated in a lovely quiet position and is really clean and very well maintained, I found the toilets always clean and fresh smelling which makes a nice change! Our room was very spacious and well decorated with a lovely sea view as do all the rooms here, the pool area was very pleasant and the pool checked daily for any contamination and there was always a lifeguard on duty, we also saw plenty of sunbed and chairs available, if you don`t fancy sitting by the pool you could also use one of the two gardens to sit in or you could go to the beach which is just out the back of the hotel. The staff were always nice and we found the animation team worked extremely hard to keep both adults and children amused from morning to night. We loved the food and always found it hot with plenty of variety and quantity, we found it very busy at breakfast but we never went without believe me. The drinks system worked well and we were able to collect 4 drinks at a time which is very unusual for a AI and they didn`t try and slow you down, we never queued for more than 3 minutes and once the hatch by the pool was open at 10am it was always fully staffed until it shut at 9pm. The Spanish did descend in the hotel at the weekends but we found them just fine, we certainly never saw them pushing or shoving and the queued up just like us. We were worried about some of the reviews on this site but now having been myself I can honestly saw it is a lovely hotel and would be perfectly happy to recommend this holiday to anybody who just wants a nice hotel in nice surroundings with no frills.

"Nice Place"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Stayed here last Ocotber (2007). This was our first holiday abroad and we didn't really know what to expect. Hotel was nice and clean, staff very helpful and entertainment was good. Great for the kids anyway. Food was not the best, my daughter lived off soup for a week as she didn't like anything else! My son just went hungry! It's ok if you like chips, snacks are over cooked burgers and sasuage. Breakfast aren't great either! The pool is very basic with a small paddling pool for the little ones. There is also a little outdoor playing area which is great, and the Hotel is right next to the beach. Lifegaurds are on the ball, especially when my 6 year old daughter decided to plunge straight into the deep end with no arm bands! The lifeguard was there like a shot! Overall, a great holiday for the money. We paid a good price for a family of 4 and had a fab time, weather was kind to us too! As I say, the only downside really was the food.

"Hotel Gardenia Park Sept 07"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We arrived at the hotel which is actually in Torreblanca, approx 2 miles outside of Fuengirola, and we shown to our rooms. The rooms were very basic and consisted of two single beds pushed together, two bed side tables, a wardrobe, a tv and a dresser. We had a room with a sea view - most of the rooms in the hotel have a sea view. As we arrived late in the afternoon we unpacked and headed for a walk around the hotel grounds. We headed for the restaurant and even though the lunch session had been cleared away, there was still a chiller open with fruit and cakes and meats and cheeses. So we sat down for a coffee and a cheese and ham toastie. On site there is a small gift shop selling gift articles, postcards and newspapers magazines, ice creams etc. There is no shop on the hotel grounds selling staple food stuffs but there is a Spar supermarket about 5 mins walk along the sea front away. There are two pools, one adult and one child. The adult pool is warm but the childs pool was quite chilly. There is a bar by the pool serving alcoholic and soft beverages throughout the whole day. The hotel itself is situated on the sea front and you cross a road out of the bottom gate and literally step onto the promenade. There are many amenities within an arms reach, including bars, restaurants and shops. The beach stretches along as far as the eye can see. In the rooms there is a safe. Clean towels are changed daily or at a frequency of your request. Evening entertainment comprised of a kids party each night from 6pm until 8pm. At 8pm adult entertainment began. Children are not allowed in the entertainment hall after 10pm. The kids party was very good and orchestrated well with lots of childrens entertainers. They held party games and competitions daily. Adults entertainment was equally fun with a different theme each night. We spent many an enjoyable evening in the entertainment lounge. Food and drink is available all day long. The hotel also has an indoor pool - booking by arrangement at reception. We hired the pool exclusively for 30 mins. It is a small pool but very very warm and relaxing!!! There is an outdoor play area for the children. And various activities going on in the day for the kids. Ie football etc. The gardens are beautiful and there are plenty of sunloungers so you can relax in the gardens or around the pool. Around the pool can be a little chaotic from 11am - 4pm.

"Hotel Gardenia Park review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We had a lovely time here. The hotel was very busy as it was the Spanish 'trades holiday', however there was still plenty of space around the pool. (although there are the inevitable people who get up at 7am to put towels on loungers). The food was of a good standard and always something for everyone. It was sometimes a bit cool, but there is a microwave to heat food up if you need to. The staff were all very nice, always helpful and polite. (especially the reception and animation staff). Our room was in the 5th floor and had brilliant views over the pool and garden (as well as the sea!). The only problem was the lifts...they were slow and often too full to use. However this was a small inconvenience.
Although this hotel was at the end of the resort, it was a pleasant walk along the prom to get to the busier part of town. The train is a great way to get around (station next to Torreblanca Hotel- 5 mins walk away), cheap and punctual. Only 2 stops (5 mins)to main resort centre. The zoo was definitely worth a visit and can be easily reached by train. We also went on Thomas Cooks wet n wild trip - Mijas water park and crocdile park. Good day out, but probably cheaper to do on ur own. However for convenience it was a good combined trip.
We had worried after reading some reviews but would honestly go back to this reaort and quite possibly this hotel. I guess its all a matter of personal opinion!
