Have been going to Salou for a number of years, despite the development it still feels a small friendly resort. Not sure about what its like in the main season but it was not too busy in June. As for Portadventura, its a cracking theme park, and as much as I hate to say this its far better than any one in the UK. Weather was warm and sunny start of June, but we did have some clouds with rain, thunder and lightening in the late evening.

The hotel was close to the beach and the promonade is long enough for a good walk and a few beers as there are plenty of bars and restaurants if you wish to go outside of the all inclusive deal. A mix of nice restaurants, little bars (some Spanish and some English and then some more for the night owls, although havign been to Aya Napa and San Antonio in my day I would not recommend this to clubbers. There is also a playground onsite and one a further up the beach if you want to get away. The beach is really nice and has very regular hut/bars for refreshments and portaloos (although not for wheelchair users). There is a water park which is really close to the hotel / beach. Roads and buses looked good too.

Location was very quiet with a few small supermarkets scattered about however Cambrils town was very nice and only a short bus ride away. going the other way took you to Salou which was more entertaining

Salou is probably not the most picturesque holiday destination when you compare to others, but there is definitely a lot to do.
We went there because of the theme park and it is fantastic. it makes for a few good days out and even a few evenings. we couldn't get enough of it.
For clubbers.. there are so many places to pick from. However you get hounded by people on the streets desperate to get you to go to theirs. We got pretty annoyed by the time we were leaving. some of them can be really persistant and be scary.
The restaurants all seemed lovely.. we would recommend "toro" the steakhouse along the front of the centre of salou. It does beautiful steaks.

Salou has some amazing fountains with a water maze which is brilliant for kids, however in the 2 weeks we were there we never saw them working once during the day and only all working on a few evenings, this is such a shame as they are a fantastic sight when they are all working properly and makes a great walk along the promenade.

Not much going on in Cap Salou, a few bars and restaurants. Meals priced about 7 euros each but drinks were quite expensive, 2.50 for a glass of Coke.
Theres no where to hire a car in Cap Salou, and the supermarket opposite the Cala Font hotel is very over priced. I advise you to wait until you get to a larger store to buy anything you need.
Looks quite dated around this area, in a 1970's brown time-warp! bit shabby and not very well mantained. Area could do with investment. Nice view point, overlooking the beach but very little to do.

Really suprised how busy Salou was! lots of hen and stag parties. The weather was amazing the whole week we were there easily topping 40 degrees. Just to the left of the apartments is a restaurant/bar called Sinatras it really does the best breakfast we have ever had and at 5 and a half euros its amazing value as its got a free tea/coffee thrown in, seeing the size of this breakfast is believing lol and a fab way to start the day. One thing, stay away from Bonavista market, my friends bag was slashed and her purse stolen within 3 minutes of being in the market so just dont go as youre not missing anything. Eating out per meal is roughly 10 euro including one drink, lager is about 2 euro a pint, local spirts are about 2 euro and theyre strong! Happy hours are usually 8.30pm till 9.30pm and Sinatras offer buy one get one free on Carlsberg bottles. See Danielle in there she will sort you out! And the cajun chicken is to die for! Overall a superb place and would definately go back

We just love Salou, we have been here twice now and loved it both times, we have been on the catamaran boat trip, swiming in the coves, and on the jet skis, there are some lovely displays on on a night time. And the beach is great, with excellent beach bars.

the resort is very good the beach is super and the sea does'nt get deep to quickly so good for kids, there is plenty of shops both in new town and old town. there are many fountains in operation on an evening which are very good to watch, the shops do get a bit repetative but they do in most places be aware of people trying to sell you sun glasses and perfume on the street there is nothing wrong with what they sell but they are much cheaper in shops. there is a bust station just by the beach which has a direct buss to barcelona, also there is a road train that takes you all round the resort. all in all great resort not full of drunks or louts mainly couples and familys. would recomend for anyone. also there is porventura and water park for more adventurous days out (be aware very expensive)

Although we loved the Europa Park, Salou itself was not for us. We went for Port Aventura, which was excellent but Salou was way too British for me!! I could have been anywhere really and I don't look for that on my hols!! That said, the teens enjoyed it, so we were able to relax!! I was in Salou for my very first holiday on my own, 30 years ago and to be honest. apart from tons more hotels, nothing much has changed!! It's a little tired and needs some TLC!! To many British bars and too many tatty shops!! Sorry, but that's my opinion!!
