Not the best place to stay as it was very poorly cleaned and quite "out of the way". The facilities left a lot to be desired and the staff were not too helpful,I would not stay there again.

the rooms are fairly spacious . you have to pay a sixty pound deposit on arrival. the food in the hotel is absolutely appaling for what you have to pay for it. we had a poolside view the only problem was the pool doesnt actually get any sun until at least two in the afternoon . the pool is absolutely freezin . if you have children then tryin to get in to the resort of salou is very hard as its all hills and no pavements. the entertainment was the same every nite we were there ...bingo . one woman karaoke .

To be honest I was wary of what to expect after reading some of the reviews online. Where these people have stayed I do not know... some criticised the hotel staff, cleanliness, entertainment, facilities... I could have easily been put off by the reviews alone. I'm so glad I ignored them. It was a lovely hotel. Our apartment was very spacious. Cleaners came every other day to change towels, empty bins, etc. Kim the Geordie receptionist and her team are pleasant and very helpful, as are the bar staff. Tiny Tash works really hard to provide the nightly entertainment, she's a gem. The First Choice reps are always around to say hello, and offer help if you need it. We never struggled to get a sunbed regardless of what time of day we went. One thing I will say - there are no parasols. However there is a shaded terrace area. There are 2 kids clubs, a younger group which have their own safe indoor area which has locked doors and you have to sign your child in & out. They play games, do arts & crafts, etc while you relax and sunbathe by the pool or on the rooftop terrace (adults only). For the older kids they have a group called wavelength. Its free to join and your child gets a t.shirt and mobile phone sock. They played basketball, killer pool, water polo, etc. My daughter had lots of fun playing games with the other kids, so hats off to Heather and Jess, because of them, she met lots of new friends and had fun while we enjoyed the sun and the very cold pool! It's a great hotel in an ideal location, ignore the reviews, go and find out for yourself! Oh and take an electric kettle otherwise you can hire one for 7 euros per week. Much better option than waiting for the one provided which heats up on the cooker top... eventually!!

the swimming pool is absolutely freezing . due to the location of it the pool is blocked from all sunlight . they left rusty nails in the door handles so you can open the door as the locks were busted . the entertainment didnt start until at least eleven pm instead of ten as scheduled .i also requested a low floor for medical reasons and when we got there they had us four floors up to which the holiday rep replied" not our problem" i would rather have spent the week in a prison than this resort

We went here after much research and it was one of the best holidays we have had. The kids loved it, entertainment is mostly the animation team with some outside acts so it's ok...to be honest it was enough for the kids before they went to sleep. The pool is great with entertainment for kids int he pool, games etc..Rooms are clean and well equiped. If you need anything the staff are REALLY helpful.

The 2 bedroom apartment was very clean, with a wonderful sea view. Read some mixed reports, but provided you don't stay around for the evening entertainment (which is rather basic) the place is great.

Stayed at Sunclub appartments last week and i was very dissapointed. The hotel is lovely and clean and rooms clean and spacious, but the staff here are horrible. They are ignorant have no manners and never smile. Air conditioning did not work till last day and kids entertainment is virtually non existent, the kids disco did not start till 10pm. By kids disco i mean this was 2 girls on the stage doing 3 party dances for them (Yes just Three!) Then back to another game for the adults. Well they can charge the adults for this you see. All they are interested in is making more money. The few acivities that were arranged for the kids you had to pay for. The drinks and meals were really expensive in hotel too and not very nice. We are a family of four (2 adults and 2 kids) and we spent £2000 in seven days, and we didnt even go to theme parks that was just on food and drink (not many alcoholic ones neither) We would never go back to this hotel it is the worst hotel we have ever stayed!

party of eight of us stayed here 4 adults and 4 children. this hotel has never been a 3* plus in its life, the rooms are filthy and the maid only came in once while we were there she came straight into the room while the kids were asleep i was making a cup of coffee and she practically came between my legs to empty the bin under the sink, i have never known anything like it!!!! she never changed the towels in a week the only way we got some clean ones was by following her trolley and taking some when she was in another room. as for first choice and their rep you may as well not have bothered after sleeping on the bed for a night my wife pulled the cover back and found blood on the bed that wasnt ours so the bed obviously had not been changed from the previous occupant disgusting!!!! she found the rep and informed her who assured us it would be sorted, so we went out for the day and came back only to find nothing had been done we asked her the following day and she said she had forgot marvellous!!!! the pool area on this hotel is extremely small so feels claustrophobic and is shaded for most of the day. the hotel is the noisiest i have ever stayed at with the entertainment being heard in your rooms into the early hours, also when we were there it was full of noisy inconsiderate people who just seemed to let their kids do what they wanted ie: banging on peoples doors in the middle of the night etc which the hotel said they could do nothing about. the price of things at the hotel: pint of lager 2 euros 60 chips, 2 euros 60, coke 2 euros 10 also they may as well not have a kids club as the reps seem totally disinterested except that is when it comes to them wanting euros as everyday there is always something that they want money off of you for ie: pizza night 8 euros per child they had about eight kids at this and bought one pizza for 16 euros from behind the bar for the lot of them nice little earner the area itself has little to offer and what it does is expensive it is on average 3 euros 50 per pint and about 10 euros each to eat, if you are unfortunate enought to be staying at the sunclub the best advice i can give you is walk to la pineda everyday basically come out of the hotel and turn left and keep going along that road la pineda is a better resort with more choice of things to do and places to eat etc.

The only complaint we had with this hotel was the food which was disgusting. The hotel was clean, the staff friendly, the entertainment good and location wise, we were close to everywhere. For good food try The Paddock which is just round the corner or if in Salou then try The Eastern Eye both have really good food and friendly staff

Hotel
When arriving in the early morning for our holiday we were impressed by the general look of the hotel reception area. It looked clean and well kept. We fell into bed all tired however I had to share with the kids as the maids had only left two sheets!

Cleanliness
OMG - Sorry if you have booked but the room was disgusting! After spending the whole day at the pool we would come home at night and get showered and changed. The floors were so dirty that we all became accostomed to having to wash our feet again before going out. Then when returning at night we would have to wash our feet again before getting into bed. By the time we walked the short distance form the bathroom our feet were dirty again and this resulted in bed the sheets getting filthy from the dirt on our feet (this was a particular problem as the sheets were changed ONCe int he two weeks we were there!!). You could actually feel the dirt on your feet from the floor!

Resort
Very small with nothing to do! There was a small area with restaurants (recommend smugglers) and a small kids play area with trampolines.

Entertainment
Fed up after two nights. Repetative however we spoke to other families who said entertainment the previous year was excellent

Pool
Shaded until at least 2:00pm. Couple of kids were hurt due to broken tiles in the pool. Freezing!

General
We always take a look at this site when booking and always take reviews with a pinch of salt. Generally we go on holiday with the determination to make the most of it. Well you work hard all year to look forward to it don't you?
We were really disappointed with this holiday and we all agreed this was the poorest one we had been on.
If you are going this year though just go with an open mind and determined to make the most of it! Hopefully it will be better this year than last year! Enjoy!

This was an 'allocated on arrival' for us so didnt know where we would be. Very pleased with the choice of accommodation, the rooms were excellent, very modern, clean and spacious, couldnt fault it. Cooking facilities were fine except the hotel shop we found quite expensive, so we tended to do one big shop at Mercadona supermarket or Suma in Salou then just topped up with stuff when we were out and about. We never ate at the hotel so cant comment on the food there, we prefer to self cater anyway, its much cheaper.

We found the resort very nice and quiet, although very hilly. We saw a few elderly people struggling to get by, and as for pushing prams and buggies, it was a bit much for some mums. Most of the beaches and coves around Cap Salou are accessible via steps so be warned. The buses stop directly outside the hotel so is easily accessible for Salou, Tarragona, Barcelona, La Pineda, Cambrills and Reus. The hotel pool was freezing so never even contemplated that, the sea was much more inviting and warmer.

We use to walk to Salou most days, takes about 25 minutes or more, but a lovely walk if you find the short cuts! The beaches are beautiful especially at Cambrills, La Pineda and Salou. It only takes 20 minutes to walk to La Pineda so thats not far either.
A visit to Tarragona is a must, beautiful Roman City with lots of architecture to see and to ramble around the old spanish streets if fascinating. Dont go on a Monday as most museums are closed. Reus is another lovely city to visit for culture and sightseeing.

We had been to Barcelona twice before so didnt bother this time, but there are plenty of buses which leave every day from outside the hotel for around 18euros return. You can get the train from Salou for 11 euros return so thats an even better deal and you have all the time to yourself to explore.

We would definitely go back to Cap Salou and this accommodation, as it is a beautiful coastal region of Spain, not as cheap as Benidorm but better beaches.

I have just read some of the comments about Sun Club. We have had 2 fantastic holidays there. We went July 2005 and July 2002 (traveled with First Choice) and we enjoyed it both times. We are going back to Cap Salou next summer.

The theme park is great things for everyone. Costa Caribe we didn't enjoy we much prefered Aquapolis. Barcelona we ahev been on 2 different trips, both were good in there own way. The last time we ate in the Smugglers and Big Ben both very good. We also ate at Sun Club, also very good for a snack. Entertainment we thought was good. Pool is cold. Staff friendly. If you want to go further a field for food the Guiness Tavern in Salou was great and is owned by a man from Cobh, Cork, Ireland.

All in all it is a great holiday. Enjoy your holiday.

Just back from Sunclub Cap Salou and had a great time. Was told by travle agents at booking that it was Salou we were going and was worried when we arrived that there would be nothing to do at Cap Salou. After a day or so - changed our minds and considered ourselves extremely lucky not to be in Salou itself as I thought it was like Blackpool - busy, dirty, crammed with hotels. Ok for young single people or couples without kids I suppose. We felt a lot safer with the kids in Cap Salou which is a really quaint, child friendly village. Our hotel staff, cleanliness and facilities were EXCELLENT. The kids went to the Wavelength club every day (didnt want to leave the hotel in case they missed their club) and the girls Amanda and Emma were FUN, ENTHUSIASTIC AND VERY FRIENDLY. The bugs bunny club for the younger ones wasnt brilliant and the girls tended to shout a lot - our 6 yr old girl refused to go after a couple of times! Wouldnt recommend it.

The food in the hotel was ok - we ate out in Cap Salou and the Italian's next to The Clansman pub (Scottish) was really good although you pay slightly more 53 euros for 5 so not that bad. The entertainment at the hotel was repetitive, killer pool at 12 midday, then water polo, bingo during the day and at night was bingo, kids disco and different entertainer each night finished off with Deal or No Deal. The girls were really good though Michelle and Nicky. Shop attached to the hotel was handy and open till midnight. The rooms were EXTREMELY CLEAN, towels replaced every day, bedding twice a week, floor brushed and mopped every day. Air conditioning at night and NO Mosquitos. Although pool didnt get sun till around 1pm it was refreshing to jump into and clean. No problem getting sun beds. Lifeguard there too.

We met some really nice people and everyone else was really friendly. Went on the excursions to Nou Camp and Zoo (good but rushed round!) Glass bottom boat (didnt see any fish though relaxing), Aquapolis water park (BRILLIANT but expensive when in - take your own food and drink), Porta Ventura theme park - great day if your brave enough for the rides - make sure you catch some of the shows! Got the local bus right outside hotel to the Cambrils Sunday market - much better than the La Pineda market on a Thursday great bargains.

All in all we would go back there we had a great time and more importanly so did the kids.
Hi to everyone we met when there from East Scotland, Ireland and West Scotland.
