some people think salou is just blackpool with sun so to speak but that cant be right...blackpool doesnt get sun...well not like salou anyway !! ok its tacky gift shops are aplenty but the bars and restaurants serve great food and drink at a very reasonable...
some people think salou is just blackpool with sun so to speak but that cant be right...blackpool doesnt get sun...well not like salou anyway !! ok its tacky gift shops are aplenty but the bars and restaurants serve great food and drink at a very reasonable price even though the euro has taken its toll its still cheaper than money grabbing england (and its sunny!!). weve been to salou a few times and stayed in different hotels and still like the place..its geared for families..but we didnt spend as much time there this year due to staying in the theme park. if you like traditional spanish towns then cambrils is well worth a visit with great cafes bars and restaurants (seafood dishes are a speciality) and you can walk to salou in 10 mins from portaventura (all downhill) then get the buses on the seafront which run very frequently and are cheap too (about 1.40 euro each all the way to cambrils. anyway thats all from us...were off now to save up so we can go back to HOTEL PORTAVENTURA....happy holidays !!!!

just arrived home from a 2 week stay at hotel portaventura... WOW !! an amazing holiday my wife and 2 kids loved it. the location was excellent only a 2 min walk from the theme park gates. the hotel is set out as a mediteranian village with all the building...

Salou was a bit like Blackpool on speed. Shops full of tat, still if this is what floats your boat then go for it.

Very good hotel. Food was excellent and service good. Room was cleaned daily with clean sheets 3 times during the week and clean towels every day. The beach club was fantastic, towels are free here so no need to drag your own. he only downside was that food...

This is the 2nd time i've visited Portaventura, last time staying at the El Paso. This experience was definately the best. The rooms are amazing! Huge queen size beds, very clean and fairly spacious...my only complaint was that i had a 12 year old and a 9...

This is Spains response to our Butlins style holiday. Rooms small, but not too much of a problem as you are only there to shower, change & sleep, poor unconmfortable squeaky bed. Food repetitive ... good choice, but the same every night ; pasta (cold) chic...

I am surprised to read so many good reviews on this hotel. But I suppose everyone has different expectations.
I found the hotel like a motorway service station and it really did feel like that, we ended up moving to the good 4* down the road - CARIBE ...
