"Great camp site"

Overall Hotel Rating:

Excellent

Open quote

Been for the last 7 years, would recommend this camp site to anybody. Its close to the beach and are plenty of bars around it, but me and my family think that 'Fred's' is the best. Three great pools all clean, and the camp site could not be any more better. The staff are excellent, great entertainment but the only downside is that it can get a bit busy and noisy at weekends with the Spanish kids.

I stayed in the Camp Sanguli with Keycamp at the begining of October 2008. The advantages of this camp is that is was very close to the beach from the from of the camp approx 200m across a level train crossing. It is a very big site. Just outside the camp there are a few shops and its only about a 20 mins walk into Salou centre along the beach and boullivard with nice views along the way. Also outside there is plentiful bars and vaarioius restaurants, Mexican, Chineese etc... There is an English pub just outside the enterance 'Freds'.

Just returned from sanguli holiday camp. 1st impressions it is a very clean campsite which is well looked after. There is a launderette on site which is operated by two ladies. The wash costs 6e washanddry 11e, which approx takes 2hrs.Theres a Pizza on site which does all types of foods, we used this several times as the Pizzas were very good. Theres a restaurant on site which we did'nt use as we used the ones that had been recommended i.e 'Freds' which is just as you go out the entrance over the railway line on the left. His meals are very filling. and a typical meal for us cost 23e. Theres also Queens, go past Freds turn right onto the main road and its about 300yds on the left hand side. His chicken curry is something to die for.

We went by Siesta coaches. Its the first time that we travelled by coach. they have plenty of leg room. I'm 6ft 4, and i found it just about o'k.The journey from leicester took 24hrs. we went by eurotunnel and by ferry coming back.we had 10 days on site, and you do get 10 days well actually we got an extra 2hrs. There are many camping vans and tents on the site which is mainly occupied by the eastern europians. Just be careful as you'll find there are alot of cyclists on site as its a good means of getting about. We found our lodge not to our standards, however it was livable.

The weather was excellant between 33-39 most days. The journey was really good both ways. The siesta staff were really friendly. They serve tea and coffee from 70p to bacon cobs £1.50. They also air Dvds in which the audio is linked into your console in your arm rest. which also plays music and comedy.

We would recomend this holiday, but if your budget can stretch a little further try the super deluxe lodges there are home from home.

Hi...We had 13 great days at Sanguli park. We travelled with Siesta Coaches, who were fantastic. We were soon boarded and ferried off once they arrived at leicester forest east. It was our first time we travelled by coach. We went straight down to Dover and quickly boarded the Eurotunnel, which only took about 25 mins. The Siesta staff were really good. There were regular at asking if you wanted drinks(tea, coffee, pops etc) or Sandwiches or cobs(bacon, sausages, ham etc)all at reasonable prices, and hot. We arrived in Calias and then went through miles and miles of countryside through France along a dual carriageway with no roundabouts. The journey took approx 24hrs. We had personal headphones so that we could hear the dvd playing or listen to alternative entertainment which you could select on your arm console.

Sangli park was quite busy when we got there, and hot. The park has mainly camping facilities, and a mixture of various lodges which are run by several companies. The park itself is well maintained and very clean. The bins are emptied regulary throughout the day. There are 3 swimming pools on site, which suite all ages. And theres a restaurant and a pizza parlour in which the latter we frequented quite a lot. There is a train line when you go out of the site which then leads you to Freds bar, which do very ample foods at reasonable prices.

There is a supermarket on the corner for those eating in. And if you turn right and walk about 400 yards you come to a bar called the 'Queens' which do a 'Chicken curry' to die for.The sea as you come out of San guli and walk straight ahead across the road and the beach is about 100 yrds from the camp site entrance. The weather was hot 39 one day. They do regular evening entetainment.

All in all a really good holiday. By the way we came back on the ferry at Calias which was a pleasurable experience that took 90mins.

Had a great ten days at Sanguli Park. The park is very pretty, clean and tidy with everything you need for a great holiday. 3 lovely swimming pools, 2 supermarkets, fab restaurant (very cheap and kiddie friendly) snack bar, playground etc... Didn't see much off the evening entertainment as didn't start till 10pm which was a little late for a family with young children. Stayed in a Keycamp caraven which was ok but looking around the site Siesta and Thomson Alfresco vans looked much nicer. The beach was a 3 minute walk from site(over the train track average 2 trains an hour) with a lovely promenade which takes you into Salou.

Salou itself is nothing special (very English) a short bus ride to Cambrills is a much nicer resort. A trip to Tarragona is a must (35 min bus ride). We flew with Ryanair please be warned any case weighing over 15kg and you will be charged!! Took a taxi from Reus airport to campsite cost 30 euro or there is a bus you can catch for 20 euro return.

We booked through Siesta and I was apprehensive about the long journey but believe me it wasn't that bad as the coach had plasma screens to watch dvd's on and we got given headsets if you wanted to listen to some music. There was a hostess on duty who came around at regular intervals to serve you with food and drink if you wanted any. The prices were good considering i.e. 70p for tea, coffee, hot choc etc. Sandwiches, bacon rolls and toasties were also on offer.

The site itself was clean and we travelled in April 2007 so the camp was not full and the kids didn't have to wait ages to play in the football area. There were 3 pools open and all were under lifeguard scrutiny. Balls, inflatables, and running around the pool was frowned upon but that is a small price to pay in the interest of safety because of the young ones that were around the pool.

Salou town itself is a maze of shops, bars, restaurants, and beautiful fountains which light up at night to display all different colours. Barcelona is only an hour train journey and well worth a visit, especially Nou Camp stadium home of FC Barcelona. Another favourite was Port Aventura which is well worth a visit, even taking 3 teenagers who were not sure it was for them, but, as usual they enjoyed it and even went on Dragon Khan twice and all the other rides were given a go.

Overall I would recommend this holiday park as suitable for families of all ages because of the facilities:- football pitches, badmington, tennis courts, swimming pools (3) and entertainment for younger children plus a bar and restaurant. There is also a souvenir shop, bakery, supermarket, doctor and atm machine. It is about a 30 walk into Salou town from the camp gates but a bus stop is just outside the gates and also the ";wally train"; which goes on a tour of the town, and goes to Port Aventura as well.

This was a holiday I was not looking forward to but I am pleased we went and would go back again, no problem!!

Just got back from a great holiday at the sanguli campsite in salou. The weather when we arrived was very very wet but the next day until the day we left we had cloud/ sunshine, some overcast days and a glorious easter sunday! We are a hardy family and we just got on with the fun! Even cloudy days saw us walking along the beach whilst the kids ran in the shallows and built sandcastles. The site was really busy as it is a main spanish holiday and this gave a great atmosphere. Two pools were open but the top pool was so cold! The on site restaurant is super and the staff really friendly. We found the food cheaper than some places offsite. for example a huge english brekkie was 4. 85 euros yet a smaller one was 6 euros at a local english bar.
Crossing the railway to get out of the site is straightforward enough with the safety barriers.
Sanguli is at the quieter end of the resort towards cambrils but regular buses run into salou and a road train. Beautiful prom all along to salou with fountains and kids play areas all along the walk.
Sanguli was so clean and tidy not a spot of dirt. we saw the facilities being cleaned regulary. Cambrils accessible on the bus lovely fishing village nice contrast to salou centre.
We went with siesta coach holidays having been with Ferris on a number of occasions. However we found the siesta drivers/hostesses a bit surly and not as friendly as the Ferris ones. The reps were all around 18/22 and did seem sometimes more concerned about having time off and hitting the clubs and bars. one rep told us he had not got in till 6am after clubbing in salou the previous night. We saw some reps pass our van going on a night out. Caravans were nice but do not bother booking a deluxe 8. The lcd tellys cannot cope with the electric supply on site and kept turning off we could not watch the dvds at night and the kidscould not play the ps2. Eventually a rep gave us a portable telly for the last couple of days. as we paid for these facilities we were a bit fed up not to have them.
all in all a great holiday. We looked around the thomson al fresco vans on sanguli and they were just as nice as siesta and the more mature rep was helpful when we requested some info about them.
We would return to sanguli and salou, my boys spent most of the time on the site football pitch, on the mini golf and ping pong and in the pools. if you have kids who love sport then they will be in sanguli heaven!

After i booked the holiday a few people had turned their nose at the thought of a holiday in a mobile home in salou!, so i was worried as i had never visited spain before, i neednt have, it was great!

the campsite is immaculate, we stayed in a mobile home booked through thomson, the mobile homes are great , lovely and clean, modern with everything you need ,fantastic facilites massive fridge freezer, excellent air con (needed), lovely patio, beautiful pool areas, short stroll to the fabulous beach, with a 10 min stroll to the centre of salou which was very nice, lots of fountains lit at night and spanish familes taking a stroll, not one larger lout in site.
We has a 2yr old and 4yr old with us and they loved it, great pool, beach, childrens play area etc, but not rammed full of screaming kids, just nice.
I would reccommend this site to anyone wanting a great family holiday.

I booked our flights to Barcelona 10 months in advance with B.A and got very good prices and flight times. Keycamp organised the transfers at an additional cost of £200+ for 7 of us which ran like clock work. Thats where keycamps help and customer service ended sadly. Unfortunatly for us, when we arrived at our resort there was no-one to meet us, just a note on a pad saying back soon! we waited 30mins before a rep arrived to show us to our accommodation.

The accommoodation was ok but a bit grubby, we found out later that the reps do their own cleaning, explained a lot. We asked them for information regarding the camp and resort of salou on several occassions but they did not have answers for us on any, we ended up using the siesta reps who were great. There was no welcome meeting just a piece of A4 paper with limited info on, however we were invited to a meeting 2 days before we were due to leave.

The camp site could not really be faulted. It was kept immaculatly clean, had everything you could want, reastaurants, supermarkets well stocked and reasonably priced! 3 lovely pools,(beware the life guards tend to throw anything left by the pool at the end of the day in the bin, instead of taking it to lost property in reception!!) bars, fantastic amptitheatre for the evening entertainment (In spanish mostly, shame)doctors surgery, launderette 11 euros for wash and dry all done for you, gift shop and great take away pizzeria gorgeous pizzas. Outside the site, a wonderful beach very clean and safe lifeguards visible at all times, lots of bars, restaurants and shops. The bus stop, beach side to the left of Cafe Central, goes to portaventura and caribe water park at the cost of 1.20 euro 1.50 after midnight (buy your theme park tickets in england a good site is theme park tickets direct as you need to visit portaventura more than once, evenings are great as they have a closing show at 11.30 not to be missed.) Beware the mexican restaurant in salou near the camp, great food but tried to over charge us by adding on 4 extra meals at the extra cost of 60 euros. The railway pub was very welcoming if you want a night off trying to speak the lingo.

The camp has a midnight curfew which it sticks to ridgidly. The kids were most upset that they could not hang around with there friends after this time as they kept getting moved on and told to go home to bed.If you come back late from somewhere the security staff will follow you back to your unit to make sure you do not disturb others. We felt safe at all times here, the strict security was very welcome. We had a wonderful time and would definatly return although not with keycamp.

Went to sanguli campsite for 2 weeks, stayed in 3 bedroom caravan which was clean and tidy, reps let us have our van early which was good of them, reps were friendly, but were only on hand couple hours of the day.
There on site were 3 pools which was ideal but the kids were not allowed no inflatables in the pools, with 3 kids 13,16,18 thats where they would have had most fun during the day,the pools shut at 8 in the evening which i thought was to early.

For a big campsite there was very little for my kids to do(they wanted to go home after a couple of days.
Evening entertainment would have been ok if you were'nt expected to sit in an ampithetre like you would a cinema, evening entertainment did'nt start till 10 which was late considering it finished ta 12, i feel they could have put a kids disco on first, when the evening entertainment finished you wre then escorted home(or at least that's what it felt like) by the security guards making sure you upheld the 12 silence code.
there were many shops open in the eve out of the camp and the town is in walking distance, port aventura is a good day out for the kids as is the aquapolice water park.

I would not go back there again, this is not the first campsite i've been to in spain and believe me there are better.
If you have older children like i do make sure there is plenty on site for them to do

We have just got back from sanguli today 30-07-06.if you are due to go then read this very carefully.the thomson vivaldi is about the best choice of accomodation, very clean and spacious, the thomson reps are very helpful especially paul, this site is geared up for the germans and the dutch and about 5%british,so expect the shop and bar staff to be rude and ignorant towards you.i didnt here a thanks for 2 weeks,

there is a deadly silence rule at midnight and the security guys follow you all the way back to the accomodation with their fingers on their lips going sshhh sshhh.you cant even laugh, but the germans and dutch can sit outside their tents talking at 1000 decibels.

kids cant take lilos or rings in any pool(unless your german or dutch that is)the evening entertainment is set in an ampitheatre, so you have to sit on a concrete bench with a concrete table staring straight ahead, not very good when there is 11 people in a party trying to get in the holiday spirit, and kids dont you dare bounce a ball (unless your ........)or security will ban you from the entertainments.

i am not a complainer, but this holiday is not for you if you like laughing, talking after midnight, floating on a lilo, football, and if you go into salou at night(which is fantastic)make sure your in by 12am ok,dont waste your money on this place go to a thomson super family hotel, there much more fun.

I decided to take my Girlfriend and the 2 kids (7 and 4) to Sanguli Camp Site in Salou after the peek season (Last week of Sept - First week Oct 12 nights in total). I took my car from Portsmouth - Bilbao and drove down to Salou (about 360 miles 5-6 hours). The journey on the ferry over was a bit choppy first night, but by midday the next day the sea had calmed. There was plenty for the kids to do on the boat, soft play area, videos or activites for 2 hours in the morning and two hours in the afternoon. I made the mistake of changing my money before we left to Euro, the boat does take them but gives you change back in Sterling.

The food was ok, but can get a bit pricey for a family of four or more. Once we got to Bilbao after 36 hours on the ferry we were ready for the drive down to Salou. The motorways were virtually empty and the scenery down was amazing all the way down.

The only bad thing with driving that far in Spain was the Tolls, a total of around 45 Euros in total, just to get down, although the fuel is far cheaper than the UK. We arrived at the campsite around 5pm local time and was shown by a rep in a golf cart to our accommodation, where he then took me to the Keycamp Reps office. The camp looked just how we saw on thier website.

There we met Paul ( BIG SMILE ), who let us into our Accommodation. We had booked a basic Classic midi which was ideal for just the 4 of us. Accommodation was clean and tidy. We couldn't get over how warm it was even at that time of year. So we decided to take a short walk out of the camp down to the beach where we walked bearfooted along the beach, just a stones throw from the campsite which stretched as far as the eye could see in both directions the view was awsome and the med was so warm. We did however have an awful storm later that night, which we got caught in and my Girlfriend lost her flip flops in the floods of water cascading down through the campsite. My morning it was as if it never happened.

We spend the next fews days, sun bathing ( only 4 days total) exploring the area by foot to and from Salou, bus into Cambrils (Quaint little street lanes in the old village) bus into Tarragona ( Beautiful Roman Ruins worth a trip to see ),and a train into Barcelona to see the temple familiar. We paid 8 euros each to get in and the kids got in for free. The climb up the spiral stairs up the towers was tiring but worth as the view at each stage more breathtaking, even if the stairs didnt when u got there. We also walked up the famous la Ramble which was vwery amusing, the street entertainers were very ingenuis and funny. The buses cost around 1.80 euros each to Tarragona (same trip in the Uk would fetch over a fiver each) a bargin really. The train to Barcelona return for 2 adults and 2 kids was 30 euros.

As for the campsite the facilities were well kept and very clean. All the pools were also in mint condition but the very top pool by the Ampi-theater closed towards the end of our holiday as the season drew to a close. Even though it was autumn the average temp for our whole stay was around 26-27c, which was very warm. The bars around sanguli were also friendly and worth a visit. I recommend the Railway, english beer, english/irish staff and the food was good, good value for money too. We also went to The Queens where the food was also amazing and good value for money, worth a trip if u ever go. Also just behind the Railway was a little Supermarket Called Little Britain, which was ideal for all those little needs that you forget when u go on a self catering holiday. It had fresh english loaves to Baked Beans, Fish Fingers and BACON!!

Overall the holiday was brilliant. The campsite was wat I expected and the staff were friendly and helpful, even if they had had a long busy season and it was coming to an end they didnt show it, true professionals. I recommend Sanguli for any family of any age, there is plenty to do in and around the area for young and old. I am now looking to re-book for next year but I shall be going in August as some of places we wanted to go to had closed for the season. It was a good time to go though not too busy and not too hot. 10 out of 10, a top holiday which was thorougly enjoyed by us all. Thank you Keycamp Holidays.

This is our third time to salou, but first time in a camp site. Booked flightsd through Thomson's and arrange our own transfers through internet, holidaytaxis.com. Had a brilliant time, camp site wonderful, 3 pools, 2 bars and very clean. Thomson al fresco reps were really nice, there if we needed them, good thing also no welcome party so no pushing trips down your throat. It was also really nice to be able sit out on our decking after 12.00 and have no thumping of music etc. A brilliant family place.

Will probably go back next year.
