"Good hotel/Fun holiday"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We were looking for a cheap and cheerful holiday and we got it! We are a family of two adults and a 2 1/2 year old - so she needed to keep busy. The hotel was lovely, staff very friendly. Rooms were clean and basic - had kitchenette with micro wave, toaster,Fridge, hob and kettle. Plenty of Storage too. The entertainment was amatuer but still fun the staff made so much effort, always plenty of reps about to dance with the children etc. We went Half board the food in hotel was surprisingly good, lots of choice, fresh and cooked well:) which is just as well as if you go out into Salou it can be quite expensive to eat out as a family. We were lucky enough to have a room with a view of the pool which was great - you could hear all of the entertainment from our room - but it wasn't too much. It didn't stop our daughter or us from sleeping. Would definalty go back!

"Another fantastic holiday"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We love this hotel. This was our second year running at the hotel and once again we were given a warm welcome by the staff at reception. In addition, we paid on arrival to be upgraded to half board - the food is absolutely fantastic (plenty of choice for everyone) and Ana the Restaurant Manager is lovely. The maids serviced our room each day and were always very friendly. David (one of the entertainment staff) is sooo funny, everyone loves him and the Thomson reps were great with the kids.
We had a great time and will hopefully go back next year,
Salou itself needs a revamp, the main beach gets very crowded, but we tended to head to Capalans (I think that's what it's called) was smaller and less busy. We did have a fab day out in Barcelona, you can get the train from Salou station direct to Barcelona where you could go to the zoo/sea life, I think the return train tickets for 2 x adults and one child cost 26 euros under 4's are free. We didn't bother with the zoo as it was touching 35 degrees and the ever so helpful taxi driver in Barcelona said we were probably best avoiding it in the middle of the day as there is no shade.
Thank you to all at the Golden Avenida, we will see you again next year!

"Fantastic Golden Avenida"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Our family enjoyed a fab holiday at this hotel. The food is of a very high standard and varies each day. The rooms are cleaned daily. The reception staff are friendly and helpful. David is a star entertainer, he should be on TV. The Thomson Kids Club reps were fab with our 9 year old. The pool area is beautifully kept. Our only gripe would have to be the price of drinks at the bar.

"Aparthotel Golden Avenida"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Large complex with lift and stair access to each floor, the room its self had a relatively nice view, a massive balcony, bedroom, living room, bathroom & mini kitchen with toaster, microwave & kettle. There is a huge pool which is freezing but fine once you get in and swim about for a little while!

"Great Family Break"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Just returned from a 2 week break at the Avenida Park with my husband and 3 young children (4, 2 and 5 months). We had a very enjoyable holiday at this hotel. The rooms were fairly basic but had everything we needed for a comfortable holiday. The staff at the hotel were very friendly, helpful and effecient. They made you feel very welcome and were particularly nice to the children. The food was much better than I expected from a 3 star hotel. There was a wide variety of choice at breakfast and dinner. There was a seperate food bar especially for the children with all the usual things kids like to eat (pizza, sausages, chicken nuggets, fish etc) You will not go hungry at this hotel!! Perhaps the thing we liked best about the hotel was the entertainment for kids. Although our kids did not attend the kids clubs, they did go to the mini disco every night in the bar. They thoroughly enjoyed themselves every night. The kids reps did a fantastic job as did the hotel's entertainer. The high light of every evening was meeting Thomson the Dog. There was bingo every night following the mini disco and then a live show at atound 10ish. Unfortunately we didn't see any of these as it was too late for the little ones but there certainly seemed to be a wide variety of acts performing. I would go back to this hotel again and would highly recommend it to other families with young children.

"great stay"
Overall Hotel Rating:
great stay loved the size of the apartments and the location. This Hotel is within walking distance to the Beach town centre and a short bus ride from Port Aventura. The Staff were welcoming and the rooms cleaned with fresh towels every day. There was plenty of entertainment and a great Kids club. I did book this Hotel as it was reviewed on another site as suitable for families with teens. This really was not the case. Our neighbours complained about the noise and we were extremely quiet. A small mp3 player with a broken speaker was the only music from our apartment and this did not wake our 10 year old in the same room. It may have just been the neighbours as but if My teenage Son had brought his cd player there may have been problems.

"EXCELLENT"
Overall Hotel Rating:
I have just returned from a weeks break with my husband and two daughters, aged 4 and 7 months. I cannot praise this accommodation or the reps enough. The accommodation provided everything we required, great that we had a fridge and a microwave with a small baby to feed. Food was excellent, such a varied choice and selection of hot and cold food every night and was an excellent way of encouraging my daughter to try different foods. The rooms were cleaned every day and a change of towel could be given daily if required. The family club was great, plenty for kids to do in a safe and clean environment. The only negative I would say were the pool was extremely cold but as least my baby could take a dip in the indoor pool. In summary could not praise this hotel enough and definately hope to return.

"A fantastic holiday!"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We have just had a fantastic two week stay at this hotel and would definitely go back again. The staff on reception and in the restaurant were very friendly, helpful and polite and were also very good with children. The selection of food available at breakfast and dinner was also fantastic and there was something for even the most fussy of eaters. There were themed nights too (Spanish and Chinese) where the restaurant was nicely decorated and the waitresses dressed up. Our apartment was cleaned every day and fresh towels were provided every day too, and the beds were made. The facilities in our two bedroom apartment were fine, with everything you would need in the kitchen area(microwave, hob, fridge, plenty of dishes etc.)and in the bathroom a hairdrier is provided, which is always handy to know in advance! The TV has a variety of international channels, with Sky Movie channel and Sky News for English speakers. The balcony was huge and there was a washing line for wet swimming towels etc. Our room was on the second floor on the side of the hotel facing the main road, but so what? It was not noisy enough to prevent anyone sleeping, and we have four young children! We did request a pool view at the time of booking, but we know it's never a guarantee you will get it, and who goes on holiday to sit in an apartment anyway? Not us! The outdoor pool is good, although really cold, but the kids never minded! There is also an indoor pool which was good, although a bit small. We had a few days of rain, so the indoor pool was handy in those circumstances. The entertainment was not the best we have come across, with the mini disco supposedly starting at 8pm, but it was more like 8.20pm, and even then there were only a few party dances for the kids and then about fifteen minutes of the reps asking children to come on stage to tell jokes etc., which looked like an excuse for the Thomson enertainment team to have a break while the children entertained! We have been to hotels where the enertainment team sang and danced with the children at the mini disco for an hour before the nightly show(The Hotel Calypso, which is just five minutes form the Avenida is where we stayed in Salou before and this was the case!) Still, it didn't take away from the enjoyment of the holiday, as it is not that big a thing. The children's reps were good with the kids at Kids' Club, and there is "Toddlerzone" three times a week for little ones.A holiday is what you make it and we had a great time!

Overall Hotel Rating:
just returned from the avenida with family of 6 we all had a lovely time there was plenty of activities for all ages from children to adults all were included from small to old the food was good plenty of roast dinners, breakfast was ok but the same thing every day shame they put garlic over their food, there was plenty of choice for food and you never went hungry. the pool was nice but too cold to get in it needs some heating. the only problem we encountered was the thomson reps very unhelpfull. but the kids reps made up for it well done girls they made our holiday and our daughter caitlyn loved the kids club and the disco in the evening, the entertainers were fantastic and very friendly.

"Awesome Avenida"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We got to the Avenida Hotel at around noon. It was a last minuate booking and were glad we choose it because we wil be going back. Evewn though we had to wait about 1 hour for our room, it still give us the chance to look round the location were we found a wonderful restraunt call 'Gabbers'. Gabbers was great for kids and we eat there for the whole 2 weeks we were there because we loved it so much ( At Gabbers your kids eat free! ). After we had the keys to our room we dropped our bags off and headed for the pool. we ahd a great time and would recomend it to all my friends and family.

"Excellent Excellent Excellent"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Wow - How fab is this hotel???
We booked a one bedroomed self catering apartment on the Thomson website - On arrival at the hotel we then paid around £217 for myself, my husband and two children to eat at the hotel, this would be for 6 days which would include breakfast and evening meals, we were so pleased we decided to do this as the food was excellent, I've never seen my kids eat so much, we all thoroughly enjoyed it.
The apartment was spacious and spotless as was the rest of the hotel, the cleaners were also really friendly and again loved the kids especially when my kids used to say Hola etc.
The pool area is also really clean and has a separate baby pool which my daughter really loved, my son spent most of the day in the jacuzzi - bless him! There is entertainment throughout the day, but not in your face if you know what I mean, David who heads up the entertainment is fab, everyone loved him, there would be quizzes, bingo or darts type games in the outdoor bar area or water polo for the adults in the deep end of the pool, it was great. They also have a different act on though every evening, Lord of the Dance/Beijing Acrobats/Magic Show were all fab, they also have a kids mini disco with Thomson the Dog, my kids absolutely loved it, the Thomson reps were great aswell, Sarah painted my kids faces, she is soooo lovely.
Sunbeds - I really couldn't believe my eyes on our first morning, when there was a queue from the doors (that lead to the pool) to the reception desk, there must have been 30 odd people waiting there. Basically the doors that lead to the pool area do not open until 9am, which is a good thing I suppose, this stops people putting towels down and saving sunbeds etc. We never did queue and always managed to get a couple of beds, but take my advice and be there as soon as the doors open, preferably not with your little ones though - it's like a stampede!!!
We had a fab holiday - I am always the first to winge about something, but I can honestly say, I cannot fault the place, I would love to go back next year, but hubby wants to go elsewhere. One other bit of advice, when you book this hotel, request that you have a room with a pool view, it is definately much quieter, we had a room overlooking the road and it was so noisy at night - why can't Spain bring in a law where it is illegal to blast your horn after 9pm, like we do - it's a nightmare.

"David (The entertainer) Rules !!"
Overall Hotel Rating:
I am 13 and went to the Golden Avenida with My Mum,he partner and my best friend. I had the time of my life there. The food in the restaurant was just out of this and there was plenty of selection. The apartment was nice and spacious including the balcony. The highlight of my holiday though was the entertainer DAVID. He is the best man I have ever met. He made all the kids smile when I was there. David does games with kids and adults during the day and of a night he does the Bingo and presents the shows. He is so helarious at doing the Bingo and made me want to buy a ticket every night. At the end of my holiday I wrote him a poem about how great he was and also gave him a keyring with his name on. I love him so much. Kelly and Sarah(The Thomson entertainers) were great with the kids aswell but not as great as David. GO DAVID!! xxx
