"H10 Mediterranean Village review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Just got back from these apartments and never will return. What a dump!!! We read alot of the views on here before we went and thought we where going to a wonderfull place. Staff not friendly at all. Entertainment??? I could do better myself....If you have children under the age of 3 years old then this is the place for you. The day we arrived we watched a woman change her baby's dirty nappy beside the pool and god knows where the contents went!! We slept in the apartment but thats all we did. The first night it took us 40 minutes to get into our room, the swipe key card system wouldn't work. It took 2 of the Spanish speaking staff to let us into our room which was on the 5th floor, about 2 minutes from the main entrance, and 2 lift rides to get there. We asked to be moved to another room and were told we'd have to get on with it.The towels were not changed every day more like every 3 days. We had a cleaner came in every morning and washed the floor's but that was it. The 2nd day we got a family in next door to us, they thought a holiday was all about sleeping through the day and partying all night long, 3 nights we were woke up at 3am, 4am and the final straw was 5.20am. Luckily for them it was our last night. On our 4th day it was lashing with rain so we tryed the dinner menu. 30 euro it cost us and we couldn't eat much as all the food was cold or it didn't look to good. As for the entertainment, a Punch and judy show every night would of been better, not that we where there to watch much of it but we caught a little of it. It was quite enough. The rep's didn't give a toss about the people all they wanted to do was look good and have an easy ride. He told me that he would move us to another room but whenever it came to the crunch he told us there wasn't any rooms. Cap Salou!!!! nothing in it, a few pubs and a small beach. To far away from salou. Anybody we spoke to all said that they wouldn't be back, it wasn't what they had expected. The bus drivers charge what they like, I can't remember paying the same fare twice. We ordered a taxi at the main desk on our last evening and ended up getting the bus as the taxi didn't arrive. 10 euro's is what the taxi's cost from Salou to the apartments and they expect a tip.....We're so glad we didn't book for 2 week's, we'd of been on our way home after the 1st week. GOOD LUCK to anyone who goes here.
PortAventura is brill and well worth the money, we spent 3 days at the park which made up for our disapointing apartments.

Had a geat time
Just back from 2 weeks half board and what a great place it was, lots of entertainment and kids clubs, kids were happy. Lovely staff clean towels changed and beds made every day what more could you want.
Food excellent I have stayed at half board places before and food wasnt good here at med village great variety even a kids buffet.
You have to get the bus or a taxi to salou or la pineda although we walked and found this very pleasant to do along the beach front didnt take long 30 mins max.
two faults with the place and thats when you arrive you dont get in your room till 2pm and you have to get up early if you want a sunbed around the pool as they fight over them very childish indeed but never mind get a grip although staff have signs up saying not to reserve the beds the staff should throw there beach towels in the pool then that would stop it.
I would rate this hotel 10/10 and very ideal for families especially with young children

Overall Hotel Rating:
went to the mediterainian village after not being abroad for 3 years due to a bad holiday and all i can say is we will be going back to here again possibly the best holiday as a family i have been to
went self catering for 2 weeks arrived late at night and given a welcome pack including milk tea bags biscuits had a few concerns with the swipe card and air con at 1st but the staff fixed it straight away
some lovely english restraunts in nearby cap salu and regualr visits to the porta aventura theme park is a must as you canott do everything in 1 visit would suggest going after 4pm to avoid big ques and watch the shows as well very entertaining
barcalona zoo is a must and the city visitovely large pools but the sunbed sittuation is the only downside as you have to be up earlyto get 1 some people getting u at 7am and waiting till 9am till they are unlocked
the real plus side is the night entertainment which was supperb both there own entertainment and the ones brough in i have nver laughed so much at the own shows put on with danni, rocco, nicolle and colatchi deserving a lot of credit and all so friendly and always someting to do for kids all ages ie football, rifle shooting, ust some things to mention all freewe will be going back thats for sure and would recomend it very highly

"H10 Mediterranean Village review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Firstly let us say that we went to the H10 purely based on the reviews we had read on this site..we found them most helpful and had taken them on balance for both good, and a few bad comments.
The flight was less than two hours from LGW, we found the airport at Reus to be small but efficient.
We had arranged a taxi service beforehand which was waiting for us and we arrived in about 30mins. (Taxis do NOT have provision for child seats)
Our first impression of the hotel was that it was clean, and bright. Checkin at 11pm was quick, the staff polite who spoke good english, and were helpful. A cold buffet of breaded fish, ham, salad and bread roll had been provided for late evening arrivals, in the dining hall.
Depending on which side you are on access is via one small lift to each side. Room entry is key card. The rooms were fairly big, with two good singles together with a single sofa bed too which rolled out. TV, safe (rate per day) cool box (rate per day), efficient air con but no tea/coffee facility.
Good size balcony with table and chairs and clothes rail, and spacious bathroom with bath/shower and electric socket.
Maid service was good and prompt, beds were made each day and if you leave your towels in the bath they will change them every day.
We found our family of four were quite comfortable in this good sized 4* room.
Dining: A big bright and airy dining hall, no air con but pleasant enough. To the back was always a freshly prepared food stuff, which was either a joint, paella, fish dish, steak etc, or used in the morning for breakfast sausage, bacon, eggs ( done all ways) and pancakes. The main section was buffet for hot dishes, meats, rices, potatoes, veg, etc. We can say in simple terms that we found the meals to have variety in all aspects, for all ages although the kids stuff was always your nuggets, beans, chips pizza etc. Drinks both hot and cold available, with your usual fruit juices too and wines to purchase with your meal although you cannot leave with any contents (its only because of the glass bottle so ask for a large plastic beaker). Plenty on offer for veggies we thought and if you're weight watching, with soups, excellent salads, rices, etc.
There is a large seating area with flat screens that always had sport, and the internal bar, plus two pool tables. This leads to the main outside seating area/entertainment/ family pool.
Guests wait for the pool guy to release the loungers at 9am to be assured of pool seating although some can be found mid pm. The pool is large with shallow and deeper ends and to one side there is the cafe where you can get daytime snacks/meals for the kids, with the usual pizza, burgers, chips. The shop, laundry and pub is upstairs by a small lift beyond the smaller pool for kids. Indoors there is a small heated pool too.
In the evenings we found the entertainment team to be excellent. The outside play park for kids was open during the day and they had plenty of activities for them too but ours loved the eve disco. Thereafter it was fun comps for adults, humour, in-house shows and also acts from Africa, Brazilian dancers and playful parrotts.
Drinks are expensive and evenings snacks of hotdog/crepes are too if you're feeking peckish. We settled to a lovely bottle of Vino Tinto de Casa most nites for less than 10 euros and finished with JD/cokes at 6.40 euros each. Crisp/slush for the kids at the bar too.
On this note we have to say the shop was very dear. We came out with two small carriers day 1 but 48 euros lighter! ( a colour- in card and 4 crayons for our 2 yr old on the first day was 10 euros, but then a table tennis set of 2xbats and 3xballs was only 2.50 euros~?.. go figure, as the yanks would say)
The hotel is perched on top of a little hill. Its a short walk down to a road where you can get a taxi from the rank into town for 6 euros or catch a regular bus. A small shop sells most things and a path leads to a small inlet/bay and beach. The path is steep with steps so the unsteady may find this awkward and buggies have to be carried really. The beach is sandy here and ideal for a quick visit, but serious bathers will want to go for the full beach into town. If you carry on down the road you will come into a play park with little rides and activities for the kids. Its great at night to have a meal in the many available places, and then chill with a beer whilst the kids play safely in your view/nearby.
This was good for us and important, given recent terrible events.
Guests in the hotel we would say are 60% Irish, 10% Scottish and 20% English with some welsh too. Very nice and friendly although the effing and blinding on occasion from some of the irish was annoying if you have impressionable kids.. It may be unfair, as it takes all sorts and may be specific to that week so dont be put off.
Summary
All in all an excellent hotel, food, facilities, entertainment, kids club, surroundings (town and beach, cabs, bus).
Fairly expensive for drinks and shop on site, but that seems to be a standard now as they know that we'll pay it. Still the annoyance of sunbed towels too, although notices forbid it, and that also is standard now. Its just the ones that consistantly 'save' the beds at 9am then dont materialise till 3pm that are frustrating! ...are you listening out there!!?
But go enjoy!.. this is an excellent holiday choice for families (not for oldies who want peace and quiet)
We loved it, there was no aspect we could complain about.
Finally we should acknowledge that having booked with THomas Cook to go to a place in Turkey we subsequently found too many reviews here advising simply NOT to go!
We subsequently booked H10 after reading reviews here. Dont take them 'as read' but on 'balance', but it just goes to show that sites like this work!!.. so support them and thank you to all those involved

Overall Hotel Rating:
Just got back from Cap Salou last night, we had a fantastic holiday at the Med Village its a shame that it is in such a small place.
The hotel itself was clean, comfortable (the beds were the best we've had in foreign country), the hallways are carpeted which cuts down the noise from unruly families!!
There are plenty of sunbeds around the pools, which is cleaned regularly.
There is a very handy shop which sells all your basics.
The entertainment was good, very friendly and not a bit pushy.
You have La Pineda and Salou on either side of the resort and had a much better time there, but its not cheap on the buses because they dont do return tickets!!But you can walk to both resorts. The bus stops right outside the hotel.
Our only trouble with this holiday was
A: SIZE OF RESORT
B: Small kitchen
C: Expensive travel.
There are many plus's though too many to mention, excellent beaches, friendly staff, more for family/couples etc.
If you are off to the H10 enjoy, we did.

Just back from cap salou on the 15th july, the hotel was clean and the rooms were adequate. The maid was very niceand came to our room every day.
As for the entertainment(if thats what you want to call it) it was chronic,If you call adults battering each other with inflatable toys and shouting and screaming at each other entertainment then it was great. The pool was great but the sun bed situation was a joke,we were self catering but tried the hotel food 1 night it was just as bad as the entertainment. We went into salou every day and found a good indian called masala to eat in.Portaventura was good but the kids got bored with it into the second week.
Won't be rushing back, hadn't been to spain in 5 years now i remember why,i'll be sticking to america and dubai.

Overall Hotel Rating:
what a fantastic holiday i've already booked for next year with my sister , we had the best holiday ever
the hotel was clean and the staff very pleasent.i think the location is great as your just a five min taxi ride to main salou centre or la pineda by the way taxi rides are much cheaper and easier when you have kids just 6 euros to salou centre or 7 euros to la pineda the bus is 1.45 to salou and the blue train is 3 euro each, aquapolis is the best water park even better then costa caribe and at the moment if you go to mcdonalds in salou centre you get a voucher in the happy meals for aquapolis were you pay for a adult and kid goes free saving 16.50 euro
in cap salou itself there isn't many places to eat the paddock and the smugglers are the best but we found going into salou centre the meals are half the price gabbers is realy cheap but the toilets need some attention!i think routte 66 in cap salou is over rated we went two times and the breakfast was swimming in grease the food is what you would get at a very cheap greasy spoon, the waterfront in la pineda was the best the steaks and breakfast are a must for everyone but a warning dont order ribs if you have a small apetite there massive and truely yummy buy your port aventura tickets from uk as they are more expensive in salou the beach in main salou is fantastic with childrens play areas swings slides etc every five min mine just had to try everyone! in cap salou my kids loved the motobikes, trampolines and boats which they went on every night at 2euro each and i was surprised that the small pub near all the rides food was very good and cheap,
no holiday destination can beat salou when you have kids believe me i know we go away 2 times a year and the kids enjoyed this the best but were ever you go a holiday is what you make it if your gonna have a lazy one round the pool everyday salou is too good for this get out explore and enjoy truly fantastic!!!

Booked straight in. Room cleaned every day. We were on the 4th floor. Carpets in the hallways. Free safe in the rooms and full size tv. Handy if you take a portable dvd player with you as you can link both together. Restaurant....well the choise is amazing. If you can't find anything you like then you must be hard to please....an enormous job to please everybody especially if there are 500 plus people every day for breakfast and at least evening meal. Only one thing....ignorant families letting children run riot around the dining room....would you let them at home?
Salou hasn't changed much in the last three years since we've been. A new road and landscaped gardens have been made to link Salou with Cap Salou and a nice walk it is too. The little train actually comes that way.
Good pint of Tetleys and John Smith's in the Knights Inn ....Hi Sue!! and bouncy trampolines, pool, air hockey and live entertainment and meals served until 11 pm if wanted....Went to the Park 5 times saw all the shows we wanted special mention to Bubblebou (fantastic) and the Chinease acrobats in the Chinese Theatre (excellent) and the biggest candy flosses I've ever seen. The new ride should now be open, the Excelerator, just being tested whilst we were there. For May the weather was red hot, don't know what it'll be like in July/August.
Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 weeks. By the way we often went to the pool later in the day as well as first thing and always got beds!!!! Would recomend Med Village to anyone...back in a few years to see if the three new golf courses are finished....time to go back to Ibiza!!!

"H10 Mediterranean Village review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We booked the Mediterranean Village on the strength of all the positive reviews we had read and were not disappointed, what a place! We were slightly concerned at travelling as a couple with no children as it does seem to be very family-orientated however this was not a problem as we were there during term time. I would imagine during school holidays it would be very different.
The apartment itself was immaculate, and of an extremely high standard. It is possibly the best we have stayed in and have travelled extensively abroad for a number of years. Kitchen was fully equipped with fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle and even supplied tea towels! The bathroom was again scrupulously clean and was much bigger than average. The bedroom had two Queen beds and loads of storage space. A real plus was free use of the safe in the apartment, they could so easily make money on this but don't - nice touch. Living area has sofa bed, table and 4 chairs, TV with the only channels of interest to UK travellers BBC World, Eurosport and MTV. The balcony was huge extending from sliding doors in living area to sliding doors of the bedroom. It had table and 2 chairs and a stand-alone clothes dryer, another Godsend! You should be aware that it is necessary to pay a 60 Euro deposit (well apartments definitely did) that is returned to you on checkout. Some folk seemed a little aggrieved at this. My only one criticism (and it is minor) is with the noise of people moving furniture. Due to the tile or marble floors, every time someone pulled a chair out, it reverberated around the building! Our apartment was in a great location but right up above the restaurant so we heard this more than most during mealtimes. Suffice to say however it was not that great a problem or we would have asked to be moved.
The hotel and apartments have two huge outdoor pools (again probably the best we have encountered in this type of accommodation), small heated indoor pool (located at level -1) a steam room, sauna, jacuzzi and small gym. I believe there is also a roof terrace for sunbathing but never had decent enough weather to find out where it was! Also on site, there is a small well-stocked supermarket, a pub, a laundrette and a hairdresser although this didn't seem to be open. There is also an enclosed all-weather 5-aside football park and children's play area (both of which looked excellent.)
There were a variety of activities planned throughout the day, plenty to keep you occupied if that's your thing. We did not sample the evening entertainment so can't comment on that. The bar area however is enormous and has pool tables and a number of LCD televisions in it.
We ate in the restaurant twice, one breakfast, one dinner, although felt it a bid odd that you pay for your meals before you sit down. Both meals were lovely; the choice at breakfast time was really quite something and would cater for every taste I'm sure. Would certainly recommend it.
Cap Salou itself only has a handful of eating places and our personal favourite was Route66, come out hotel and cross the main road, turn left and go up and back down the hill and you will find it there. We had great hospitality from some lovely Dutch people and excellent food. We tended to see the same people there every time we ate which speaks for itself really.
In summary, if you are reading reviews to help you make up your mind before booking the Med. Village, book it! You will not be disappointed, fabulous accommodation, extremely clean and something to do for everyone. We will definitely be going back and cannot praise it highly enough.

"H10 Mediterranean Village review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Just back from one week at Med Village hotel - Brillant hotel, great staff, entertainment team second to none!
Loads to do in the hotel - I have never seen a entertainment team work so hard and cater for so many different age groups and tastes. Mini club starts from age 4 to 8 but there is a club for 9 to 16 and adult games all day. Our son was only 3 but was still able to participate as long as one of us stayed with him.
Went into Salou one day - a bit grotty and tacky but okay when the weather is bad and there is not a lot to do. Didn't find anywhere in Cap Saou to buyt ciggies had to go to specialise Tabac shop in Salou.
Cap Salou is very small and hilly but to be honest there is no real need to leave the hotel except for shopping - there is a supermarket on site for day to day needs but if you need presents for anyone Salou is a must. (only 6 Euros each way in a Taxi)Stayed half board a few times but never had the selection that was offered at this hotel also hot food - which for mass catering was some achievement.
Maids in every day towels changed, beds made and general tidy up.
You can hire beach towels for 15 Euros each (this is a deposit that is returned at the end of you stay). We swopped them everyday for clean ones great way of saving space in your suitcase!
Any family with children this hotel is a must entertainment from 10 each morning until 11 at night and they always had a smile for the kids (amazing)Recommend 100% and even considering going back next year (I have never gone back to a hotel for a second time)

"H10 Mediterranean Village review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We went to the Hotel Mediterranean Village in August 2006. We stayed for a week half board.
Although we didn't get to the hotel until 10 pm, the hotel still laid on an excellent cold buffet.
We spent much of our time in the fantastic PortAventura/La Caribe parks, but the days in the hotel were also great! Kids had much fun in the pool and games corner and the activities arranged by the entertainment crew were good. They genuinely seemed to take an interest in the kids enjoying themselves. The buffet style meals were brilliant! We were a little worried when we saw some of the reviews saying the food was not so good, but when we were there it was delicious! There was so much choice, something for everyone.
Although the hotel is on the outskirts of Salou, we loved the location. There are nice beaches within 5 mins walk - look over the road at a cafe called Don Pancho, which has mini golf (3 euros per person) then on the left side there are some steps leading to a sheltered cove - very good. The local bus stops are just round the corner from the hotel - 20 mins ride to Salou, 30 mins to PortAventura, price approx 7 euros for four of us. Very regular, about every half hour.
Accommodation good. We had a family room, which was perhaps a little cramped, but perfectly adequate. Our room faced the hotel drive - therefore was a bit quieter than the rooms overlooking the pool. Although the evening entertainment was excellent, I would imagine it could be a little noisy in the rooms by the pool.
The evening entertainment was wonderful, very funny and entertaining. Professional shows 3 times in the week, wonderful parrot show and Chinese acrobats. The entertainment crew worked very hard to put on shows on the other evenings, such as songs from the musicals and Saturday Night Fever. Drinks a bit pricey. Best to buy at supermarkets nearby.PortAventura was everything we had hoped for and more! Water rides were brilliant, get ready to be soaked on Tutuki Splash especially! Better to book tickets before leaving UK, or buy with reps, as has 30 min queues at the park. Dragon Khan was great. Didn't have the courage to go on Hurakan Condor!!! La Caribe was excellent - make sure you get sunloungers as soon as you get there, and hire rubber rings - you need them for the big slides and the waves are better with one!
All in all, a fantastic holiday. Good chance we will be rebooking for next year!

Overall Hotel Rating:
The med village is a fantastic place to stay (we stayed for 2 weeks)if it was in salou itself.
There is not alot to do or places to goto in cap salou, it only has a handfull of bars nowhere except the bars do meals the place to go to is mickeys bar as they have a bogof(buy one get one free) offer and the prices were quite cheap cap salou is not for people with walking difficulties as there are hills all over and there is no mention of this in the brochure we spent most of our time going to salou.Which costs 1euro 40cents on the bus.The staff in the med village are very friendly very helpfull and the complex is very clean they have a kids club which is very good.I wouldnt recommend cap salou to anyone.I will not be going back as it has gone very expensive i think if anyone was to visit this area i would pay the xtra and go all inclusive self catering isnt worth it.
All in all we enjoyed are hol as it is what you make it.The theme park is a must very good value for money lots of things to do plenty of rides to go on take something to eat with you as meals quite expensive(in my opinion)dont go through the reps just so easy to get the bus buy you tickets there.
