This was to be a short pre Christmas break in the sunshine. Unfortunately, it turned out to be an endurance test. We were not expecting a five star experience on the cheap, however, we did expect to be at least able to eat something from a buffet on an all inclusive holiday. To be fair, the breakfast was average, but lunch and dinner were absolutely appalling. And no, we are not people who are picky I can assure you. Drinks are served in very small plastic cups with any ice creams being in a container about the size of an egg cup. Snacks from the pool bar are not for the faint hearted unless you fancy the challenge of an undercooked "burger" and luke warm fries.

Take a stroll into the bar around 8:00pm and try your luck at jostling for a drink amoung the grasping hands. The animation staff made a real effort to keep children busy during the day and seemed popular. Staff on the whole seemed to work hard although it did take the threat of reporting the reception clerk to his manager in order to actually get some pillows into our room over an hour after first asking for them, this was at the fourth attempt.

I could go on but hopefully you will not make the same mistake as us and pay hard earned money to stay at this hotel. I am so relieved to be going back to work, yes it is that bad!

We have just enjoyed 2 sunny weeks in a one bed apt at Castillo san jorge, the last of three blocks, the others being Antigua and Suites. Our room 1305 (top floor with great sea and inland views but little sun). These apt are spacious with a big balcony, 2 large comfy beds and plenty of hot water. Maid service is 5 times a wk with loads of soap, shampoo and toilet rolls. TV was free but only Skynews and CNN in English. All the staff were very friendly and helpful especially Davinia and Nelson Alvarez Gonzalez. There is a free bus every hour to the Atlantico shopping centre where the best beach is. We walk there about 20mins, get our shopping and return on the bus. Quite a few uniformed police stay in these apts which contributes to the general peace and quiet. These apts are just round the corner from lots of shops, restaurants and bars (with happy hour somewhere or other allmost all the time). Great swimming pools and loads of free sun loungers.

Some of the most beautiful beaches we've visited but full of German nudists. We were in the minority as we had clothes on but the nudists got on with there holiday and we got on with ours! We stayed at an all inclusive hotel so we can't comment on the cost of food and drink in Costa Calma but we would definately go back for the beaches.

Just returned from a week at this great hotel. When we arrived the outside of Hotel is very off putting, but inside it has everything you could wish for. Hotel rooms are very comfortable, Clean well equipped bathroom, and the food is superb, just didn't know what to choose for every meal as there was so much. Before we went we read a few reviews that said as it was a German Hotel the Germans were given priority over the English families but we found no problems at all, the reception staff on our arrival were friendly and couldn't have been more helpful, the restaurant staff were great and all in all a terrific holiday. We were definately in the minority, only met probably 3 more British couples, but if you want English people holiday in the UK, we got on fine with all the other nationalities there.

I would describe the town centre as very 'Blackpool'- arcades and tacky shops. Most of the restaurants seem to sell the same food- burgers, steak and full english breakfasts. The dunes were lovely- takes about an hour to walk to where the RIU hotels are, this is where the nicest beaches were- although its not for the faint hearted- the beaches are a nudist mecca! we thought it was funny though! it was quite windy in November but it was sunny everyday and we got a nice tan. The new shopping centre next door to the Atlantic gardens 'El Campanario' was really nice- live music and shops. The 'Boardriders' club has excellent food and a good atmosphere.

Cockroaches!!!!!!!!!!!! We arrived at the hotel to find cockroaches in the bathroom- we complained to the hotel but the receptionist stated that the hotel was full and we could not be moved. The next day there were more cockroaches so we complained again and the hotel management just gave us a can of cockroach spray! over the week there was loads of them! really horrible! The room only got cleaned once the whole week and the room was was very dated and the bathroom was grotty. Also you have to pay a 60 euro deposit- which we did not know about! Pool was really freezing, shame it wasn't heated. Good location though, there was a very nice shopping centre next door.

Plenty of restaurants, shops and stalls to brouse. A bit more upmarket and not at all tacky. No one bothers you and you can take your time. Everywhere is very clean and the walkways are safe from traffic.

We spent a week here in September and found the hotel relaxing, friendly and very well looked after. We booked a superior room and the views were fantastic. The balcony was large with sunbeds, comfy chairs and table - absolute peace and relaxation. The swimming pool was fabulous and the water just cool enough to escape the heat of the sun. The staff at this hotel are very friendly and always willing to help. We ate outside every evening as the weather was lovely and warm. We thought the food plentiful but lacking in variety some evenings, although I must say neither of us went hungry! The desserts are to die for! Other holiday makers at the hotel seemed to want the same as us - a thoroughly relaxing holiday to recharge our batteries. Most people we spoke to had returned to the hotel on at least 2 or 3 occasions, some even 9 or 10 times - the best recommendation you can have. The hotel is opposite the beach which seems to go on for miles. In the evening we went for beachside walks along paths which had been specially designed for walkers, joggers etc - no need to worry about the traffic. There are plenty of restaurants with shops and stalls to brouse in the evening. All in all a really enjoyable holiday - we will definitely be returning.

if you want a chill out holiday in a flat resort with plenty of friendly bars and excellent resturants, everything close at hand, warm and entertainment in plenty of bars this is for you. I always go in November and it's a great place to get away from the cold. look out for happy hours as they can take a lump off your spending and if you like steak and fish this is the place. Casa de la Carne steakhouse near the beach is superb with offers at different times, it looks like a chain resturants but isn't. STAY CLEAR OF 'THE CARVERY'. It is diabolical. With the exception of a meal of cold saurkraut and cold sausage i had in france once it had to be the worse meal me and the wife had ever had. La Tasca is also superb as is poco loco but find out from someone first about the chinese resturants cos some are not very good. Chablis is a good pub if you like british food and Robin's nest pub is nice but we spent a lot of time in Finnegans. A small but good pub with a really good quiz. Rock cafe is the place for good bands. we love it anyway

second time to hotel in 5 years. i wrote a review on this site in 2003. A little bit Butlinsish if that's such a word but really good for families. me and wife went on our own this year. lovely pool but cold as all canarian pools are, i think it might be due to the salt water, probably unable to use heating and filtering. the only problem was our room was ground floor and behind trees so a bit dark but a lot of rooms were ideal looking over pool etc. The main bar was just a big hall but the other small bar was nice and cosy for adults. I would go again as i've been to corralejo 5 times and the oasis dunas compares equally with the other three I've been to.

Correlejo is great not too big or too small, the beaches are wonderful, loads of choice for eating out would highly reccomend the Plaza which is a undercover colloction of resturants and childrens rides/slides, just of the main street. We ate there 3 nights, at the steakhouse, mexican and the chinese ( which was faultless) and the kids loved it , very relaxing for famillies.

the hotel is fine, we had read the reviews before we booked (for a very good price) so did not go with high expectations, but were more than happy. We travelled as a party of 4 adults and 3 kids and found it suitable for all. Yes, its not the best pool but its fine for the kids and to sit around by, we were surprised to find evening entertainment basic but a few good reptile/parrott shows which the kids loved. Louisa who ran the kids club was lovely opening the well equiped room even though there were only my 2 and another little boy there. Rooms were basic but cleaned daily, all the staff were very efficient and friendly and the hotel is in a good spot. Only downside is, yes it is noisy on weekday mornings due to the school next door but one, nut if you do like to sleep in I am sure they would have no problems with you requesting rooms on the opposite side. All in all great value fo money and would go there again.
