"Only problem was air con"
Overall Hotel Rating:
A lot of people have complained about the food and the service in the restaurant but I can honestly say we had no problems. Yes, it was a little repetative but there was always something to different to eat if you chose to try it. The staff were busy but always had time to make a fuss of the kids (ours are 2 and 3 yrs).
The entertainment at the hotel is good regardless of your preference for it (or not)! Day time entertainment was available but was not the sole focus of the pool scene. The hotel has struck a really good balance if you were happy to do your own thing, you could, but there was also the option to join in. The kids disco was a little poor but the adult shows after were generally good (shame the kids coulnd't stay up late enough for us to enjoy it fully!).
The location of the hotel is good - its pretty central to the shops/nightlife and sea view rooms have fab views of the beach and sea. The beach itself is not up to much (well its the sea actually, its very rocky under foot and not really suitable for kids). The only real negative worth a mention is the useless air con in the rooms. Ours was noisy and ineffective and several other people said the same.
The resort itself is small and pricey but you don't really need to go out of the hotel grounds so its not a huge problem unless you really like to loads of shopping/bar hopping. Overall a nice holiday and I would definitely visit again.

"How it is !"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Having read all the previous reviews and because we have gone all inclusive to other hotels my wife and I decided to have 1 week on A.I. basis returning on 3/6 2009. My stay was impacted by the fact that I was physically ill ( vomiting ) just 2 days in to the holiday which up to then was fine. My wife was not affected but we tend to eat different things but having had proper food poisoning before I don't think this was the case but I am not a doctor. As you do , speaking to other people later at the hotel it seems I was not the only sufferer and for some people the symtoms were worse ie both ends ! I wanted this holiday to be the best we've had because it was the first time without the kids , so you can imagine when I was ill it was no fun for my wife. I have tried to be honest with my star ratings for the hotel so to try and qualify them I can only say the overall rating for the hotel is good. It is generally geared for younger families more than couples and I can support that point of view by describing the layout of the place ie 2 large ish shallow pools ( 4 ft max ) with cold water ( unless the kiddies pool was heated ? ) in a design not conducive to swimming but to more to groups splashing about in their selected spot. Various activities set up for children to attend without parents in tow. The magnificent in-house theatre with family oriented shows, with the exception of one, performed by the regular team who I must say were professional and very good at miming. The rooms were very good sized and cleaned very well every day , the beds were the biggest I have ever used in a hotel. The best rooms cost more if you want the best views or if you want connecting accomodation. the hotel was generally kept very clean. The food was nothing special , for a 4 star hotel I think this is an area where improvement could be made ie more choice , more rotation , more food ( ie not letting display dishes get empty ). Apart from juices, you had to order at the table for other drinks alchoholic or otherwise so catching the waiter's eye was part of the routine, and given that most people were A.I. I thinks this was a cost saving approach. There were 2 bars , one inside by reception which served as an evening location and designed to serve clients watching the shows , waiter service if you wanted it , or queue at the bar and one bar by the pools , this was in fact incorporated in the outside restaurant which I would liken to an up market cafe. It was run generally by the same group of waiters/waitresses and it was their world . Drinks here were help yourself by the door or be served if you sit at a table. Again quality of food here was ok and of the fast food variety. Overall I think the holiday was ok nothing out of the ordinary, thanks for reading.

"Barcelo Fuerteventura -Family Break"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Hotel is great, food very good with 3 meals every day and a pool side snack bar with a view.
Lots for the children to do with a kids club, 3 large pools and mini disco each evening. The night time entertainment is also great, with the team working very hard to recreate productions such as the lion king.
The location is good, only 15 minutes from the airport and lots todo and see withing walking distance.
I have been to 4/5 start hotels before where the food and drink gets a little boring, but the Barcelo was slightly better and I would go again.

"Nice Hotel"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We stayed just out of season and found this hotel to be fairly quiet on our visit. The rooms are nice and spacious and ours overlooked the mini golf and the beach. The food was good for a half-board hotel but it was made much better by getting a table on the patio (which was pot-luck depending on when people left) as it felt more like you were in a restaurant than a canteen on the patio. The pools were freezing when we were there and as the breeze kept you fairly cool (even while you are getting SERIOUS sunburn - use the spf50 people!) it took a brave person to go for a dip. On some days I would be the only one in there! The man made beach did feel and look man made to us and we found that walking to the right along the coast to the beach by the Sheraton much better. We loved dining at the beach cafe out on the water, and the little lagoons they have created underneath were perfect for kiddies to swim and very warm!

"two weeks in the relaxing Spa"
Overall Hotel Rating:
The hotel Barcelo Fuerteventura Thalassa Spa is where we stayed for two weeks while we visited the island. We were all inclusive which was great and the food in the hotel was excellent. As well as the buffet which was part of the all inc. package there was also an a la carte restaurant which had great views over the sea. The room we had had sea views and a balcony which we made good use of on an evening watching the sun go doing having a drink. There are two great swimming pools one of which is heated. There is also mini golf table tennis and pool table. The hotel is very clean and a great place to stay
