hotel is never a 3 star plus as advertised, only just a 3 star.hotel is gruby and in need of some tlc.we went all inc aug 2010 first time wev'e tried it,non inc kids still able to get free drinks as machines avaliable to all.only buffet resturant open everything else shut, the buffet has same choice of meals every night which you will have to que for,not enough staff so you have to wait fof a table to be cleared, then wait for your drink order to be taken.Only one snack bar open serving sandwiches wrapped in cling-film,dried pastries and rolls (not very appetising) again nothing to stop non-inclusive guests helping themselves .only one bar open to all inc guests during the day the better one of the two you have to pay in+ it,s the only bar where you can watch sport in !!.The pool area,s were grubby the sunbeds filthy. If you want a sunbed you have to claim it by 8-30am or you will have nowhere to lounge for the day ( they need to double the amount of beds ) The entertainment was very poor, one man does it all (not very well ) and on his days of there is none. Not a place fof teenagers ,they will be bored stupid.Good location though with good fishing and snorkeling to be had of the rocks just outside the hotel. ONe table tennis to use right outside toilets/ pool tabes worn out with balls missing Buffalo bar is where the entertainment takes place(small stage ,grbby tables/chairs) try and get as far away from it as poss for peaceful nights. needless to say we won't be returning. PS the resort is like a ghost town even in peak season worth getting a car out to see the dunes / beaches (nothing to see inland though)

been to castillo san jorge four times and have just returned this week. Unfortunately there is a change of management and the standards have dropped dramatically. it is such a beautiful hotel and in prime position right on the front. You can look out onto the ocean whilst whilst sining in the dining room. Room cleanliness has dropped, we were allocated One toilet roll for three people!!!! we had to go to the toilets downstairs in the complex and take some toilet roll from there. requests for more toilet rolls were ignored. One night both bars closed down leaving holidaymakers with no facitlities for drinks!!! There was alsways two snack bars which served hot food. This year only one was open and the hot food had been discontinued. There were only snacks available on the bar. Pastries (dried up) Meat (festering) and dried up bread rolls. A lot of the original staff have left (not surprised!!) But those that have stayed worked their socks off and were so helpful. The management is to blame for all the chaos. There was not enough staff to cope with all the holidaymakers and the bars (when open)had only one staff working!!! Tables were not cleared, glasses were in short supply and it was overall dirty and there was litter everywhere. The children's entertainment team were appalling. They had no rapore with the children and were worse than useless. It is such a shame. People were complaining left right and centre. People will not be going back to San Jorge. It is a tragedy. Such a beautiful hotel. I do hope the management changes.

If you like sitting around the pool for your whole holiday...Well this is the place for you!!!The entertainment is very poor, same songs every day/night...The food was excellent, plenty of choice even if youre fussy!!! The only thing I can fault is that the pool is dirty the result of this is my son having visits to the hospital with an ear infection.....Other than that enjoyed our holiday!!

When we first arrived at the hotel it looked better than we expected, we checked in and went straight to our allocated room, it was massive although we were all inclusive we had a small kitchinette with fridge, cooker & microwave the balcony was over 20feet long and 6ft wide with views over the sea. The room was spotlessly clean, although admittedly could have done with a fresh lick of paint, the food was excellent and a wide choice for all meals of the day being AI meant this was good for us although a little over priced if you were SC and using the hotel for food & drink, although some parts of the hotel were closed (due to the economic dowturn) we were told, it had three pools all of which you could use (they were bloody freezing though) overall a decent hotel we would certainly recommend and go back too

Just got back from a weeks holiday staying at Castillo Antigua. We had a sea view room which was extra but well worth spending, the view was lovely. The apartment was a perfect size, clean and really all you would need, there was a kitchenette to cook if you fancied it. we stayed Bed & Breakfast and the choice was unbeliveable, you had a cooked breakfast ( fried eggs done whilst there, along with pancakes!!!! ) cereal, toast, yogurts, cold meats and cheese, plus all your drinks like tea, coffee juices etc, it was great. Went out every night to eat as there is a wide variety of restaurants to choose from. The pool was great overlooked the sea, and you could use the other pools as well from san Jorge. A great hotel, staff were always friendly, I cant comment on the entertainment really as we didint see it due to being out but there were activities on throughout the days. Was very quiet but had amazing hot weather, a great holiday if you just wanna relax

"CASTILLO SAN JORGE REVIEW"

Overall Hotel Rating:

Good

Open quote

We stayed at the San Jorge Apartments in May 2008, with our three children. We had booked a two bedroom apartment with a sea view which was definately worth the extra expense. We had a corner balcony with lovely views over the sea. The apartment was of a good size, however it was rather tired looking and in need up updating. Some of the tiles around the walls were broken and were sharp which wasn't ideal with a young 1 year old crawling around. The kitchen cooking facilities were very poor - there was no way you could cook a meal in there. The microwave didn't function very well, the fridge didn't keep anything fresh for more than a day and they didn't provide a kettle - you have to hire these for 8 Euro's a week which I think is a rip off. I pre-booked a cot for my son which didn't arrive until I chased it up and when it did it was an old dirty travel cot with a hole in the side - take your own !! On a plus note, the apartment was cleaned each day and there were always fresh towels put out for us. The complex had great swimming pools - the childrens pool at the San Jorge was ideal for little ones. The drinks in the bars were very expensive. We didn't go all-inclusive and chose to eat out each night in resort instead. I would not recommend travelling with Cosmos - I found them to be very poor, no Rep at the hotel (he didn't even turn up for our welcome meeting), no rep on the coach to or from the hotel either !! The San Jorge did not have a manned reception so after checking in at the Antigua Reception there is a fair old walk with your cases to the San Jorge.

"2 Weeks in the Sun"

Overall Hotel Rating:

Excellent

Open quote

We have just enjoyed 2 sunny weeks in a one bed apt at Castillo san jorge, the last of three blocks, the others being Antigua and Suites. Our room 1305 (top floor with great sea and inland views but little sun). These apt are spacious with a big balcony, 2 large comfy beds and plenty of hot water. Maid service is 5 times a wk with loads of soap, shampoo and toilet rolls. TV was free but only Skynews and CNN in English. All the staff were very friendly and helpful especially Davinia and Nelson Alvarez Gonzalez. There is a free bus every hour to the Atlantico shopping centre where the best beach is. We walk there about 20mins, get our shopping and return on the bus. Quite a few uniformed police stay in these apts which contributes to the general peace and quiet. These apts are just round the corner from lots of shops, restaurants and bars (with happy hour somewhere or other allmost all the time). Great swimming pools and loads of free sun loungers.

When we arrived we were offered an upgrade to the San Jorge and we would have a sea view for an extra 60 euros but were told all rooms were the same in all parts of the hotel. We had a 10min drag of the cases to our room. The rooms were clean & tidy but they only changed the towels every 3 days and the sheets once a week ? & you had to be lucky if you had your room cleaned. Rooms were well equipped oven microwave etc but no aircon so we hired a fan for 20 euros

Food was the same every night and is not recommended the only plus side was that you could order bottles of wine with your meals !!! nice medium white

There were 3 pools all very cold quite clean but have seen better I thought the hotel was very quiet we could have a sun bed anywhere any time none of the usual towels at 7am I am used too in other resorts

The entertainment was basic in the Buffalo Bar the hotels own team did their best in the day & in the evening but looked like but they must have been doing the same every week all season & looked bored.

"2 weeks in Fuerteventura"

Overall Hotel Rating:

Very Good

Open quote

We have recently returned from our 2 week summer holiday in Caleta De Fuste, and this is the 2nd time we have been to San Jorge. It is a lovely quiet resort with plenty to do for families and loads of good restaurants, all of which have kids menus, and a mix of Spanish and English food.

The hotel complex is very good, but, if like us, you were self catering, they DO NOT provide either a kettle or toaster in the room - you have to hire them, which is disgusting.

We knocked about with a family who were all inclusive, and they said that the food in the restaurant was good, with plenty of variety.

The evening entertainment is awful. The mini disco play the same 5 songs every night, which gets very repetative over a fortnight, as you can imagine, and the adult entertainment is poor as well. everyone complained about this, so I imagine it will be looked at.

Great pools and 5 mins to a lovely big beach, so an excellent resort overall.

It was surprisingly quiet in the resort, which was surprising, but the exchange rate is poor, so perhaps that is way.

If you can get over the fact that the entertainment is poor and that you need to hire basic conveniences, this hotel and resort is great for families. Do not go here, though, if you are looking for a banging night life as it is very much for families

We stayed here in May2008, there was 4 of us, 2 adults, 1 four year old and a 1 year old. I am unsure of how there are so many decent reviews of this place, we read them and expected things to be nice and comfortable but what we found was completely the opposite, makes me wonder who is writing the reviews.

In brief: 1) Play area was broken, swing was missing, sea saw on its last legs, climbing rope broken and rusting, slide cracked etc. 2) One snack bar for the whole 3 complexes, other one had no sign of life. 3) Children's club was nonexistent, the room it was supposed to be in had sockets hanging of the wall. 4) The first room we had mold all over the walls and ceiling, the second room had a kitchen tap hanging off and little mites coming out from under the sink unit. 5) The buffet was OK, but the show cooking is a 'chef' standing over a griddle, sometimes the chicken would come of pink and the sausages cooked on one side. 6) The breakfasts were rubbish, the beans were cold and needed microwaving, bacon was rubbish as was the rest of it. The pastries though were nice. 7) The swimming pools were fine though, all were clean. 8) There were some issues of the towels on sunbeds but was not too bad. 9) Only place you could eat was the buffet and the snack bar, no restaurants were available on the all inclusive basis.

been to the area 5 times and 3 times to this hotel. I think we have been spoilt as we are a bit weary to try anywhere else. It is a nice quiet hotel, but it still has plenty to do. Friendly atmosphere, good for families, overall a good place to relax. Home from Home. Friendly staff.
