Just returned from Las Marismas. It was our first time to Fuerteventura. Booked our holiday through Teletext holidays, also know Co-op Travel stay there. These apartments were recommended by a friend. We were really impressed with the apartments, they were large and nicely decorated. The grounds were very impressive. Very clean, helpful staff and I would highly recommend these apartments to anyone. The best beaches are by the Rui hotel by the sand dunes, there is a courtesy bus which runs there every day, it goes at 11 and returns at 3.30pm and costs 2 euros each. It was a 10 to 15 minute walk to the town. Found some lovely restaurants by the harbour. All in all had a great holiday and would certainly return to Fuerteventura.

Just come back from one week self catering at Las Marismas. Apartment much better than we thought it would be. Spacious, clean and quality fittings.

The kitchen area didn't have an oven but had a 2 ring hob, kettle, coffee maker and fridge with icebox. Good selection of crockery and pans. Microwaves available on request.

There is no aircon, just a fan in the bedroom but even though it was 30 degrees outside, it never felt hot or stuffy in there as you have patio doors in the sitting room and the bedroom and so the breeze comes in. They have lockable insect screens as well so you can leave the main patio doors open all night. The balcony was big and went the whole width of the apartment.

Two large swimming pools, both freshwater (which is rare, most are saltwater).

Secure, off-road parking for your car which means no fighting for parking spaces on the roads.

Breakfast pretty good with fruit, cereals, bread, meat, cheese and a hot counter with fried stuff where they will cook eggs just about any way you want.

We would definitely stay there again.

We felt apprehensive having booked this last minute deal and only a short time to research the resort/ complex. However, as soon as we arrived at Fuerteventura airport, our fears of being dumped into holiday chaos disappeared! No transfer included in the package, but taxis were available right outside, no queue. Approximately 20 miles / 40 euros to Corralejo, a pleasant, scenic drive through volcanic landscape then desert and sandy beaches. AND the driver knew the location of Las Marismas. So far so good!

Efficient check in, a large shiny reception area leading out to the gardens. Low rise apartments set around the perimeter of beautiful, large, well tended gardens with Cacti, palms, exotic flowers and banana trees. Also 2 large pools, childrens pool, pool bar/restaurant, mini golf and plenty of sunloungers. We had a ground floor apartment, clean and spacious, tasteful decor, huge bed with large ceiling fan, large mirrored fitted wardrobes, marble bathroom with powerful shower and his'n'hers sinks, patio doors from bedroom and lounge onto large terrace, kitchen worktop with 2 hobs and fridge (don't bother trying to cook!!). Only thing missing was the precious Air Con (but found it comfortable enough to sleep with fan on). Maid service was good, towels changed every other day and beds once in the middle of our week. Cleaned most days. Slightly annoying, living on ground level, was the sound of scraping chairs on floor above and badly behaved kids screaming from the balconies, both at the crack of dawn if you're lucky, but i think that would be same anywhere!!

Sand dunes and prettiest beaches about 10 mins by car. There was a bus service from hotel but we hired a car for 3 days (65 euros from 'Auto Martel' just after the petrol garage as you walk into town). Beaches were windy, but worth visiting if only for the scenery.

Forget the complex when it comes to evening, definitely worth walking into town instead (we went Self Catering). Not a nightclubbers paradise, more of a family atmosphere, therefore pleasant. Plenty of choice for eating, drinking and entertainment. Plaza centre is a good place to stop, it has a good pub (with entertainment after 10pm) and 5 restaurants. Rock cafe is also good for live music. It is also worth continuing to the end of the road into the old town. Music square is a nice place to eat, we ate in 3 different restaurants in and around - all excellent - whilst watching the live music and entertainment. There are also some nice restaurants looking across the harbour. Waikiki beach restaurant served a nice paella one evening, but don't bother when its very busy, the staff didn't seem to be coping. Seafood platter was overcooked (rubbery octopuss!), they were serving food to wrong tables and our bill had an error which took a while to rectify as a couple of other tables seemed to have the same problem. The 'Imagine' live music bar is good for drinks and live guitar till late.

Would go to Las Marismas and Corralejo again, but i fear that it could be spoilt by mass tourism in a few years. They are building everywhere :(

The Apartments where amongst the best Ive ever had. The staff warm friendly and good natured. The pools where excellent! The only drawback being the other Brits staying here where getting up at 6.30 am to reserve the sun loungers around the pool. So if you wanted a pool day you had to do the same!!! The nearest really good beach is Flag beach, for which you really need a car. There where numerous excellent beaches along the same coast road, however the vey best are all located on the very south of the Island.

The actual resort of Corralejo very disappoiting the area around the harbour resemble a council tip complete with several dead rats I saw! It was very run down and dirty looking, and best veiwed at night after a drink or two and when all the bar and fairy lights had come on too disguise the tatty surroundings.

Also around the harbour you have to run the Guantlet of the restaurant owners who will not take No! or even Maybe for an answer they are worse than any time share touts I have ever come across nearly too the point of bullying you into their prospective establishments, they really should try to learn a little self restraint! The best area of a bad lot was the Old Music Square the coldest drinks been served in the bar El Chollo!!! My advice to the Corrralejo council would be spend some money on your resort! Less on fireworks more on paint!

Las Marismas is a huge complex on the outskirts of Corralejo but it has a nice upmarket feel with plenty of facilities and room for everyone. During Easter week we were told the complex was full but there was never any problem getting a sunbed. The apartment was of a very high standard and the area was very quiet from late evening. Mostly Germans and families stay here.
Corralejo is OK but feels a bit like an old fishing village with tourist complexes tagged on. The harbour area offers the best choice of restaurants with some atmosphere - live music, fire eaters, jugglers etc but it's nothing special. The one main road into the town centre has all the usual tourist shops, supermarkets etc.
Car hire is good value and the roads are of such a high standard, driving on the island is a joy. Fuerteventura is basically a desert island - there is little to see in terms of scenery and no worthwhile excursions. Despite this, it's worth exploring the mountainous interior and all the tiny little villages - Betancuria, the former ";capital"; has about 6 houses! The lack of people makes it a great choice for those who want to get away from it all.
We visited the other main resorts - Caleta De Fuste and Jandia, both of which had all th usual tourist trappings and Jandia in particular has a sensational beach but is very far from the airport
