"Still good value but needs some TLC"

Having stayed here in September 2007 (stayed in the annex) we were impressed enough to return at the end of June 2008 staying in the hotel. We have listed below our honest opinion of our overall thoughts after 2 stays here over 9 months.

The food - is still very good with an excellent choice, quantity and quality. The all day snacks are repetitive but then the are just snacks but there's always something available.

The rooms - are of a good size but are in need of some cosmetic updating

The reception - generally helpful but tend to just string you along if you ask to keep your room for longer on your departure day. Keep asking you to come back when they know all the time you wont get it.

Entertainment - mainly focussed on the German guests but the team works hard at night with a show and during the day with games/sports for adults and kids.

Hotel in general - in our opinion would say its a decent 3*, definitely not 4* and is in need of some urgent TLC around the outside and all public areas. Paint is flaking away all over, tiles are missing and repairs have been patched up and not repainted. Hopefully they will do some refurbishing at the end of this season.

Visitors - the majority of visitors are German and they are well tended to by the staff, followed by Spanish, French, Dutch and Italians. The English are a minority.

Beach & sea - fantastic, best this side of Caribbean

Best for - older couples or larger family groups. The average age of couples staying there is around 60. Most family groups tended to be from other parts of Europe

Conclusion - value for money 3* all inclusive hotel with a fantastic beach location. A family could go for a holiday and stay on the complex and spend £0 if they didn't leave the complex.

Corralejo is a few kilometers away and in a taxi costs 6.5 euros in the evening and 5 euros during the day. It is too far to walk. It's the usual Spanish type set-up of a road of supermarket / tourist like shops, cafe's and a few bars leading down to the ha...

We loved this hotel especially it's location right on the beach.Although it is a little remote with the small town of corralejo a short bus/taxi ride away. This is definately the place to go if you want to chill and relax. We stayed in the main part of the hotel, the annexe seemed to have families in them. Food was excellent as were the staff.Cleaners were very good and helpful. We didn't book a package this time as it worked out cheaper to DIY. Flights £125 per person with flythomascook and hotel £630 (£315 each) with relaxabroad.com. We booked a private transfer with relaxabroad for £60 for the 2 of us as we had read that there can be queues for the taxis. We have stayed in Rui hotels before and never been disappointed. We would go back to Fuerteventura but would probably try a different hotel just for a change. We think its the best of the Canary islands.

Super Hotel right on the beach. My family love the beach and we were on it most days. Get a rod and go fishing in the rock pools, me and my daughter spent hours up there. Hotel was very good and yes lots of Germans but they were fine. Although setting out your towel early is must for pool if you wana bag a good spot, we only did it once as most days we were on beach. Town is very nice, not loads to do there but ok for a half day visit. 1.20 euro on bus and 6-7 euro back by taxi. go on the hotspots day trip Lanzerotte - very good. entertainment was ok and we watched it most nights.

"Not a Cockroach in sight"

We have had All-Inclusive package holidays for many years now. Recently we have stuck with the Riu chain as they were consistently good value. Most of their hotels follow a fairly rigid formula, so it is good to know what to expect, but on the other hand it can become a bit too predictable.

The one over-riding factor we noticed this time is that in the 2 weeks we never saw a single cockroach - dead or alive - either in and around the hotel or anywhere in the local resort area. This was a major bonus as we had been plagued with them in the other Canary Islands - especially last year in Lanzarote.

The location of the hotel is fairly remote. There is a hotel shop selling newspapers and snacks and there are a couple of nearby convenience stores and one restaurant, but otherwise nothing. However, the position of the hotel right on the beach is superb, so if you are after a quiet, lazy All-Inclusive holiday, this is ideal. Also, there is a local bus that stops just outside the hotel. It runs at about 5 to and 25 past the hour into Corralejo, which costs 1.10 Euro each way, and at about 10 past and 20 to the hour to Puerta Del Rosario which is 2.30 Euro.

The hotel is split into two sections. The 7 storey main hotel houses most of the facilities and one side of this block has wonderful sea views (for which you have to pay a premium). The rooms here are a little small and have quite thin walls, so you can hear the next door occupants talking at night. However, they are quite well-equipped with hairdryer and mini-fridge. Only one armchair and no sofa in our twin room.

The annex is a few minutes away. It has its own pool, restaurant and bar but no evening entertainment. This looked to be 2-3 storey family apartments.

The cleaners were very conscientious - BUT they do start at 8am sharp and seem to need to talk to each other quite loudly at the start of their shift. We were usually up and about before then, so not a problem for us.

We found the food to be plentiful and well-cooked. It did not vary much from day to day, but with such a large range, there was always something to fancy.

The main evening entertainment is as you expect - Grease/Flamenco/Kids show etc. There is also a smaller bar just off reception which has a very nice and well-used card room. This bar has live entertainment 2-3 nights a week (v good duos).

We would definitely recommend this holiday if you want quiet lazy comfort. Probably not too good for kids

OverallVery Good Resort

To be fair, I've marked most of these as Average because we did not venture outside the All-Inclusive hotel much during our stay, so I can't really comment on nightlife, eating out etc. The Riu Oliva and Riu Palace Tres Islas are located about 4 miles outs...
