"Lovely hotel, excellent location"
Overall Hotel Rating:
This was our third visit to this hotel and we're pleased to say that we actually thought the hotel in general and the food had improved on our previous visits. I'm rather a fussy eater and there was always enough selection at both breakfast and dinner to satisfy my appetite. The hotel is centrally located on Jandia seafront, opposite the lighthouse, don't let that put you off as once you enter the hotel you can't hear any pedestrian or traffic noise from outside. It takes about ten minutes to walk to the fantastic beach. The pool area is clean and tidy, sunbeds and parasols are always available and there's plenty of palm trees for shade. The majority of rooms have a view of the pool, seaview rooms are on a higher level and are worth the supplement. There are also rooms available on the ground floor, these have a pool view, ideal for families with young children. The rooms are cleaned daily to a high standard, bed linen and towels are changed as often as you want them to be. The air conditioning works well and there are plenty of plug sockets located around the bedroom. Tea and coffee facilities are complimentary in your bedroom. We visited just before Easter 2009 and the resort was very quiet, there were very few children in the hotel, the hotel is fine for older children but we don't think there would be enough going on for younger children.

"Lovely and relaxing"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We spent a week here in September and found the hotel relaxing, friendly and very well looked after. We booked a superior room and the views were fantastic. The balcony was large with sunbeds, comfy chairs and table - absolute peace and relaxation. The swimming pool was fabulous and the water just cool enough to escape the heat of the sun. The staff at this hotel are very friendly and always willing to help. We ate outside every evening as the weather was lovely and warm. We thought the food plentiful but lacking in variety some evenings, although I must say neither of us went hungry! The desserts are to die for! Other holiday makers at the hotel seemed to want the same as us - a thoroughly relaxing holiday to recharge our batteries. Most people we spoke to had returned to the hotel on at least 2 or 3 occasions, some even 9 or 10 times - the best recommendation you can have. The hotel is opposite the beach which seems to go on for miles. In the evening we went for beachside walks along paths which had been specially designed for walkers, joggers etc - no need to worry about the traffic. There are plenty of restaurants with shops and stalls to brouse in the evening. All in all a really enjoyable holiday - we will definitely be returning.

"A Lovely quiet holiday"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We spent a week at this hotelduring October half term. The hotel is easily the best 4 star we have stayed in for comfort, size of rooms and cleanliness. Comfy seats on th ebalcony and bath robes and slippers in the rooms. Food quality and selection at breakfast was outstanding, everything being prepared fresh. The evening meals were good, but a little less choice than I would have expected (especially if you aare not keen on fish with everything!) but always something good to eat! I only have 2 negatives really, the pool was unheated which made it exceptionally cold and there was little daytime activity in the hotel. Jandia does cater for other European nationsa above ours, but that is no bad thing! Only 1 Brisish pub and lots of high class places to eat, drink and shop. The location is great, right in the middle of the small resort and close to the beach which was fantastic, beatifully clean and the water was still warm. all in all a very good holiday, but perhaps a little quiet for those wanting an active holiday.

"Faro Jandia Fuerteventura"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Well located on the main road opposite the main land mark of the resort, the lighthouse. Dont let the shops and arcade either side of the hotel entrance but you off, once through the hotel doors you enter a world of peace and tranquility. We booked through Thomas Cook on one of their select package holidays which gave you free drinks and headphones on the flights and an upgraded room in the hotel.Being in the upgraded rooms you do get an extra maid service in the evenings, a larger room and balcony. If you wish for a sea view I would opt for a room from the third floor and above. The hotel I would suggest is more for the older couple and not for families. The restraunt has two sittings 18.00-20.00 and 20.00-22.00 your automatically but on the later sitting but htis can be changed. On a half board basis we found the breakfasts and evening meals to be really good, all the main meat and fish dishes being cooked fresh. The bar and lounge area is really nice and there is a stage area were you get evening entertainment most nights. The hotel also has a spa on the lower floor which guest are allowed to use free of charge for some but not all of the services offfered. The pool area is clean and well maintained and you will find this area like all in the hotel a quite and relaxing place to be.The only noise we ever heard came from the football bar thats above the arcade and this only occured on two occasions. The Faro Jandia being a more smaller hotel quest recieve a more personal service from the hotel staff, the staff I may add are all polite, cheerful and willing to help.If you need to keep your room on longer ask the day before,we did and were allowed to keep the room on until 15.00 at no charge,so its worth asking. All together this has been a holiday to remeber for all the right reasons, I would certainly go back to the Faro Jandia without any hesitation

"Great holiday in Jandia"
Overall Hotel Rating:
This is an excellent well situated hotel. Having a large heated outdoor pool as well as the well equiped indoor pool/gym/sauna complex was a great asset. The staff were most helpful especially when we asked to move rooms to get a little evening sun. There is a tennis area but mainly used by people staying for the winter in the resort, there is very little animation, just the daily water arobics, but if you ask there is an excellent boule area and crazy golf. The food is good but not up to the standard of the Iberostar up the road, we had the second sitting and then went on to see the nightly shows. We thought the shows were very good and aimed at the British clientele which is suprising as we were in the minority. A most enjoyable holiday can recommend.

"Hotel Faro Jandia review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Excellent hotel - probably the best 4* we've stayed in.
Transfer took a good hour by private taxi. On arrival it didn't look good - amusement arcade to the right and tacky looking shop to the left, but once in the hotel you entered a different world. Excellent staff throughout our one week stay, clean and spacious room with nice little touches (e.g. robes and slippers, reclining chairs with covers on the balcony, etc.). Lovely pool area with loungers (thankfully no need to book these with towels - there was always plenty of room). Food was better than most 4* - perhaps a little less choice (but still plenty to suit all tastes), with four dishes cooked fresh as you wait - usually two meat, one fish and one pasta.
We didn't find the pre set times (6.30pm - 8.00pm or 8.00pm to 9.30pm) to be a problem - we took the early sitting. Very nice lunch time meals / snacks available.
As others have said, breakfast from 8.00am - 11.00am with plenty of choice, including waffles for the children.
There is basically one main street with tacky and decent shops. The beach is literally across the road, and about a 200 yard walk straight ahead then either left or right (towards the town).
Indoor pool, gym, jacuzzi, etc. are excellent - do make use of them. Also three tennis courts, table tennis and better than average crazy golf.
Be warned, you can only exchange travellers cheques in the town which is a good 20 minute walk away.
For a week of sun and relaxation this was excellent value. As others have said the location is OK, the hotel excellent

"Hotel Faro Jandia review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
A very nice hotel which is in a good location. Though it is on the main road amongst the shops/arcades, once inside you can't hear anything from the road. The beach and promenade are across the road and there are plenty of zebra crossings. Lovely beaches which never get over-crowded. Morro Jable is a 10 min bus ride or a lovely 20 min walk along the beach/promenade.
Rooms in the hotel are cleaned everyday and sheets/towels changed whenever you want. We stayed in a superior room which had DVD player, tea/coffee making facilities and larger balcony. Breakfast was 8-11am, which allowed a lie-in and there was plenty of choice. Eggs, bacon, etc were cooked fresh. We had early sitting for evening meal, 6.30-8.00pm, which suited us with having a young child. Again plenty of choice, fish, 2 meat dishes and pasta all cooked fresh.
Staff were pleasant, friendly and helpful. We had use of a courtesy room on our last day, as we had a late flight. Usually plenty of sunbeds around the pool.
There is a hotel run kids club but it only offered basic activities. Our 5-year old liked the mini disco at night.
The coach transfer from the airport is a long journey (between 1 1/2 to 2 hours) - it is definitely worth considering the extra money for a taxi transfer.
We would stay at this hotel again.

"Hotel Faro Jandia review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We arrived after a week at the Atlantis Palace in Corralejo,(see report) Our room was a good size, with a nice balcony with chairs, which were very comfortable.
The food was excellent, always hot, and plenty of choice. The waiters were all very polite. (as were the rest of the staff in the hotel.
You could pay for everything on your card including your safety deposit box.
There were more Germans and other nationalities in this hotel (the Atlantis Palace had more English families.
We didn't have any trouble getting a sun bed, even when we had been out until after dinner There is an umbrella to 2 sunbeds.
We went on an island tour which was a full day, but not too tiring.
There are various bars whichever way you go out of the hotel.
The beach is lovely and the rep said that the sunbeds on the beach were 3 euros each.
This is an excellent hotel if you want a relaxing holiday. I would go again for a week.

"Hotel Faro Jandia review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Jandia was but a piece of desert just 25 years ago. Now it is a long string of hotels by the ocean with some housing for the staff uphill.
It is taken mainly by the German operators and if anything foreign is a problem for you then you'd better go somewhere else.
However the only thing that matters here is your credit card and certainly not nationality. All information is given in minimum three languages always including English, you can buy British tabloids in any supermarket and eat scrambled eggs and bacon every morning to your heart's content.
People do not come here to find a company. Jandia attracts mainly couples or families of all ages, many with children, even with babies. Relaxation and health seem to be the priorities. The main attraction is the beach which spreads for many miles. It is never overcrowded. Yet again if you would rather prefer to stay all the time by the pool in a hotel there is not much point in coming to this rather upmarket resort.
Suppose the beach is what you like and you decide to book a hotel in Jandia. Have in mind that all hotels are close to the sea but some are built high up the hill and you will have go up and down along a very steep path each time you decide to take a swim or buy a bottle of water in the shop or just to take a promenade along the sea.
Hotel Faro is ideal in this respect: it is just 400 meters away from the beach. There is a soecial pleasant wooden bridge leading to the ocean.I am not sure if this hotel could have got its four stars in Bruxels or Paris but it certainly deserves them in Jandia. The staff is friendly and well trained. The rooms are immaculately clean. If you need the second key-card to your room you can get that free. The safe will costs you as usual. TV is free but there is hardly anything of interest except the news (BBC and CNN). The German and Spanish satellite channels are rather boring.
The hotel has two buildings. The main one is a seven storied building with the rooms occupying floors 3 to 7. All rooms have a sea vew. There is however another small building with all the rooms on the ground floor or the first floor. Those rooms all look on the pool. The restaurant serves a good variety of food, including octopus or shell fish right from the ocean. The wine list is not bad either. Sometimes they give you drink on the house. The restaurant has two shifts for the evening meal. If you take the first shift at 7 pm you will have to finish by 8 pm which some may find a bit stressful. Brekfast is served from 8 to 11 am which is good for your first days when you normally have to sleep a lot.
The wellness centre is another attraction of the hotel. Put your dressing gown on (provided by the hotel) and take the lift to the basement. There they would give you a fresh towel every time and you can use free sauna completed with a range of showers, cool water basin, ice dispencer and the relaxation room. Add to that the gym, Jacuzzi and a special foot massage basin. You have to pay for massage however (which was very good from our experience).
The time for check out is 12 noon which is convenient for those who are leaving. But if your operator brings you earlier, say at 10 am (which happened to some who travelled with TUI from Germany) you will have to wait until the rooms are vacated and prepared. That means you have to be hanging around until 2-3 pm. If you want your room at once you will have to pay for an extra day. It's better to check before you book. There was also an incident with another group brought by the same TUI only to find that the hotel was double booked so they had to be moved to other hotels but still had to come to Faro for the meal.
We travelled by a charter flight with Thomas Cook from Gatwick and both departure (12.15 pm) and arrival (9.30 pm) times were good and we did not have to wait in the hotel and did not have a sleepless night before nor after the holiday. The general problem with Jandia is that you are bound to an operator and the choice of those in the UK is very limited. It is difficult to come to Jandia on your own form the airport. The taxi is very expensive (about 120-150 pounds) and maybe it is more sensible to rent a car in that case. Above all, the cost of a regular flight from the UK is prohibitive. But actually Thomas Cook sell the seats cheap on their charters closer to the date. To buy such seats, to rent a car and to book a hotel by phone: there are other excellent hotels in Jandia, maybe even better than Faro. Maybe you go and try it and write later what it was like.
Our holiday at Faro Jandia was so relaxing and effective that we would certainly like to come there again.
"Hotel Faro Jandia review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
The Hotel Faro is what we expected having read the reviews on this useful site. The hotel is excellent and the food is better than expected. The staff are friendly, polite and very efficient.
The only thing that disappointed us when we arrived was that the hotel did not have 2 rooms together especially since we have children both aged 10 years despite Portland stipulating it on our booking. We therefore had 2 rooms apart for the first night meaning we were split up. However, on the second day we were placed next door to each other. The rooms are spacious and cleaned thoroughly and sheets changed everyday if wished.
The food is amazing, they cater for all nationalities mainly German and Spanish, it is very highly recommended. There were hardly any British people at the hotel. Sometimes there was Champagne for breakfast.
The Pool area is large but busy quite early in the mornings and although it is against the hotels policy to reserve sunbeds there were sunbeds being reserved occasionely. The beach is about 10 minutes away across a busy road, the sand is really white and the sea is just right for children. There is a small restaurant on the beach which do excellent food and sangria.
The evening entertainment is good especially since there is not much to do in Jandia itself in the evening. It is varied, flamengo dancing, tribute bands and chinese circus, quite entertaining and waiter service too while you watch. There is a Spa at the hotel which looks brilliant.
The only drawback to this hotel is the transfer time, about 1 hour 15 mins. definately too long after a flight and children, the road is very bumpy and not much to see. The rep is not on site but helpful if any problems.
Overall, excellent hotel ,very much recommended, better than the Princess Hotels apparently. If you are going for a honeymoon it is worth upgrading to a suite, but as a family the rooms we had were brilliant.

"Hotel Faro Jandia review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Stayed at the Faro in March 2005 1st time to the island and was most impressed with the airport and transfer, Both were smooth and started the holiday off in a relaxing way.
On arrival at the Hotel it certainly matched the photos in the brochure, We had upgraded to a superior room , this was a larger room , balcony with table and chairs and two sunbeds, in the room we had a DVD player, fruit, mini bar and all soaps and bath products needed for our stay .The beach was across the road and you had to walk about 500 mts to the sea , where you could hire sunbeds and parosols for 9 euros a day.
And yes there was nudist on the beach , but being so big a beach it wasn't a problem.
The hotel was spotlessly clean, food was very good both breakfast and dinner.
Staff were very attentive and generally spoke good english,
Even though 90%of guests were german dutch and spanish, all were very friendly and we struck many conversations over a drink at the bar.The outside pool was nice and quiet with few children, those that were there seemed to enjoy the activities laid on by the hotel, the indoor pool and wellness centre was excellent , beware of sauna and steam rooms as the order of the day was for all to be naked as is the norm in european countries.
All in all a fantasic hotel we have rebooked for oct, if you book you wont regret it.

"Hotel Faro Jandia review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
On arrival at the hotel after a longish transfer from the airport, we were given a glass of champagne and a cold buffet was put on in a small room for us to eat.
The room was very luxurious with a massive balcony and we even had bathrobes and slippers.
The food - could have a cooked breakfast every morning served by the chef or could opt for yoghurt, fruit, cereals, various fruit juices, the choice was endless. Same goes for the evening meals very large choice of meats, fish etc.
Did not really sunbathe around the pool area as it was quite crowded and people put towels on the beds at about 7.00 am. T
The lovely beach is just across the road 5 minutes walk and as others have mentioned on this site it is a nudist beach, but there were a few who did keep something on!
There was not much to do in the evening. All the entertainment seemed to be geared towards the Germans and there didn't seem to be any bars nearby.
Don't think I would go to this resort again as it's a bit of a drag on the coach from the airport and doesn't cater enough for British people but would definitely come back to Fuerteventura.
