stayed here for 10 days in may this year (2010) - had been recommended by a friend so i thought id try it

it was very near all the amenities i needed on my holiday - and the service and standard of the hotel was excellent

all the staff, including cleaners and restaurant staff were very pleasant and friendly

it has a sun deck on top of the building, that not only gets the sun all day long, but affords those who want to the opportunity to sunbathe nude

it also has the most stunning views of the resort as the building is one of the highest there

would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone

We stayed at this hotel Aug 2009 for 10 nights all inclusive. We found there was very few English staying at this hotel. The entertainment would start everynight with a childrens mini disco wich is all German/Dutch songs. Then it was mainly karaoke every night even this was German/Dutch. Some good entertainment with a bird and reptile shows. Our room was for 2 adults and was very spacious could have slept 5. Food was the same every day International menu. Breakfast had a good selection of food: bacon, sausage, fruit, toast ect. When we checked in we got a free pass each for one day at the wellness center and would definatley recommend using it. there were 3 bars - 2 open in the day and 2 in the night. Would recommend this hotel if you dont mind an international atmosphere.

Lovely hotel and staff were all very helpful. We were All Inclusive and the food was excellent. At dinner you were given a bottle of wine and not just a glass, you could even have champagne at breakfast. The only thing letting this hotel down was the entertainment.....the entertainers tried very hard but the shows were what you would expect from Spain in the 70's!

The hotel itself was lovely, although the rooms were very dated. There was plenty of choice at meal times and mainly the food was very good. The staff were most helpful. The entertainment however was dreadful, it was as though we had been transported back in time to the 70's. But we found out it was a Dutch owned hotel (most residents were Dutch or German) and I believe this is there type of entertainment. The main problem with the hotel was the Dutch and German guests, they were rude, arrogant, loud and greedy....running to put towels on sunbeds at 7.30am then not using the sunbed until the afternoon (although the hotel rules state this is not allowed no one stopped them)......if you tried to get in a lift and there was already one or two people in it they would close the door in your face(lifts held 8 people)......when there was say, prawns or cheesecake for dinner they would take a full plateful, then leave most of them to be put in the bin(just a couple of examples).......Finally it was the volume of their voice, they had to be heard, always shouting Ya Ya Ya!!!!! If I never hear that word again it will be too soon. You could not escape it. We feel they ruined our stay as we were going for peace and quiet. We would not return to this hotel due to this, which is a shame as it was really nice

We have just arrived back from a week at this hotel. We had actually booked in at the Barcelo margaritas but got moved as it was sooo poor. We had the option of moving to the Victora, it was the best decision we made. The hotel is only a three star but should really be a four star. We were all inclusive and foundf the food and drinks choices excellent.you get branded drinks served in real glasses not paper cups(other than round the pool) Food is varied and plentiful with lots of nice little touches like a good cheese board and a chocolate fountain with fresh fruit !!! The entertainment is of a high standard for this type of hotel with something for evryone.Kids had good shows and so did the adults .In fact there there were at leat two different acts on a night.plus singers outside on the terrace. The best thing about this hotel was the Wellness centre wich was actually free on our trip.(i think you normally have to pay )This was truly wonderful luxury .We went every day, it is something to be seen and experienced ,you will feel invigorated and refreshed !!! All in all I highly recomend this hotel to anyone.

Stayed at Eugenia Victoria during early April 07. Only thing that put me off slightly when reading the reviews on here were the comments about the food. Having stayed there, all I can now say is don't believe a word of it! We always stay all inclusive due to young children, and I have to say this hotel had the best choice of anywhere I have stayed. During our holiday, we had swordfish, rabbit, veal, fresh tuna, as well as the usual chips, pizza, pasta etc. All you could possibly want for breakfast, pancakes, full English, continental - even the fussiest eaters will not struggle.

All inclusive drinks package was excellent, cocktails and named spirits were included. At mealtimes, you were given not just a glass, but a half bottle of wine!

Communal areas very tidy - rooms a little shabby but only to sleep in anyway! Got the impression this hotel was quite grand in it's day, but looking a little tired.

Evening entertainment was interesting - one of the members was clearly a transvestite, which gave myself and my husband a constant laugh! I use the term entertainment loosely, as most nights consisted of karaoke, miming or outside acts ie. the entertainments team themselves did no entertaining!

Make sure you use your free trip to the spa - very relaxing and worth paying to go back again. Self-service bar located by the main road is very handy when poolbar is busy.

Playa Del Ingles itself is a typical Spanish resort - no surprises. Read a lot about the Yumbo cente on previous reviews, but I have to say I preferred the Kasbah and Plaza centres - not as big, but a much nicer feel.

Great hotel for young families and couples.

We really enjoyed our two weeks in this hotel at the end of April 2007.
A large and very clean room and a great view from the balcony:
Also luxuriant, manicured gardens around the pool. which was the least cold I have found in all the Canaries!
The hotel has been built to protect you from the strong prevailing winds. Even though there must have been 600 to 800 guests we always got sunbeds.
A good selection to choose from in the restaurant:
Free chilled water with your meal and also freshly-squeezed orange juice at breakfast. I recommend you try the delicious ";cooked"; meals, for example the chicken in wine sauce.
Reasonably priced drinks except during happy hour between 8 and 9 pm when they were unbelievable:
Two gi-normous vodka-tonics for 3 Euros (£2.10) total!!
Free chilled water around the pool.
Free internet café all day with plenty of PCs.
Free trial of the beautiful wellness centre. no-one tries to sell you anything! I recommend some crushed ice to rub over your skin when you emerge from the saunas! Press an underwater button when you are in the pool and see what happens!
Free bus to the beach several times a day. We took the last one at 3.15pm to avoid sunburn and came back by taxi for about 3 Euros (£2.10).
Free entertainment:
Daytime stuff is low-key, crazy golf/archery/darts/waterpolo.The Animation team were good fun and professional.
Evenings were either budget shows indoors or dancing to a singer-musician outdoors.
Small supermarket and plenty of bars/car hire etc. more or less next door.
What was wrong with the holiday or the hotel? Hardly anything really. The rather dim lights (eco-friendly) in our room and the décor (clashing colours/types of marble/mirrors) in the public spaces took some getting used to. but all the staff took the lead from the manager.cheerful, helpful, respectful. A good hotel that was nearly/completely full. Lots of people from all over Europe must like it as much as we did.

Eugenia Victoria was great. Plenty of food with plenty variation Drinks are cheaper than outside and 2 happy hours a day. Great pool plenty bars and really good staff. there is a free coach every half hour to the beach which is just as well because it is miles away. Proffessional entertainment was great but no matter how hard the ";animation "; team tried it was the same old faces no matter how they were dressed.

We went in Feb. and it was like a european geriatrics convention. Hips and knees cracked like pistol shots but they were still out at 8.00 am to put the towels out. No need because there were loads to go around. The resort has various centres with shops and bars etc. the biggest is yumbo but this turns into TRANNY TOWN at night. Lady boys to widow twankies. The sea front has entertainment on but you pay through the nose for drinks. We hired a car for 3 days down the street for £60 and travelled all over on £8 in petrol.Sioux City is a good day out Opens at 10 but nothing happens until 12. £10 toget in through the day or a fortune with the reps on friday night.

All in all well worth it and would go back.

Booked a last minute holiday the week before and decided on this hotel after reviewing this site. There were mixed feelings about the hotel between the wife and me as she rated it lower than me but then I was grateful to leave the cold weather and to see wild flowers and to have some warm sun on my back. The rooms were large with a separate bedroom off a corridor. They were originally self catering apartments as you could see where the kitchen had been fitted. The fridge is still there which is a good point but no tea or coffee making facilities so bring your own kettle as we do like a cuppa first thing in the morning and late afternoon after a shower. The room we had was on the first floor and in front of a large palm which made it very dark all day. The toilet made very strange noises and smells would drift from it ever so often. I presume there were 7 stories above of Germans doing their best to drop their stuff on us. Yes the hotel is full of Germans and the food and entertainment is geared that way due to the number. The wife did get into to swing of it and was quite good at competing with them by reserving the sun beds with our towels, barging through doors and diving into the food. If you cannot beat then join them she said. The food was plentiful but aimed at the German market. I stuck to the traditional fry-up in the morning but alas no HP brown sauce just ketchup available.

There were lots of spaces available in the dining area as there were lots of alcoves around it as well as outside space when the weather was suitable. Do not miss going to the wellness centre as you have a free pass for one visit. You go down some steps to a pool area with saunas. We entered the sauna and there were 2 naked Dutch women sitting there but this time us prudish Brits did not join in. There were lots of sun beds (with pads) around the pool, also plenty of bars for drinks. There was an all inclusive option but that is being stopped on the entire island this summer and only available at the top star hotels. A local guy said that businesses and bars were closing down due to eating in on all inclusive and the taxis were not being used so they were handing in their badges, so the government was stopping this full board option. The best value bar is just down from the hotel up a precinct next to the Supermarket. It is Irish owned and called Macker's. The owner John is a pleasure to watch as he banters with the public walking past. The beer is only 1 Euro (70p) and they do a proper cheese and ham sandwich. An English Sunday carvery with a choice of 4 meats at 9.95 Euro (£7)is fantastic and should not be missed. John is a Celtic and Barcelona fan and there are at least 2 games to see on the multiple televisions in the bar area.

The resort is fantastic with the shops being concentrated into there own areas. Be warned we fell into the scratch card scam and was told that they are not time share but work for the Spanish government in promoting internet holidays. It is a total lie as they are working for some sort of internet holiday scam where you are took away in a taxi for hours of a grilling and hard sell to use them.

The beaches and dunes were clean and we did as everyone else did by walking the shoreline to the lighthouse at Maspalomas. It was very pleasant and we walked back through the dunes which was a challenge so be warned. Also be careful if you have young children as you go past several nude bathing areas and they are quite blatant at showing you what they have.

Overall we thought this was the best Canary Island for us and will visit again but at another hotel with more of a British flavour (No HP no go)

Spent two weeks at the end of June in Eugenia Victoria, gorgeous weather and lovely hotel.

As the only customers of Thomas Cook going to the hotel on that day we soon found out that the english were very much in the minority. Very german based, entertainment etc and staff seemed more friendly towards them. Though reception spoke fantastic english and helped as much as they could. We upgraded to all inclusive from half board whilst we were there for about 200 euros each.

Food was fantastic, plenty of choice. Missed breakfast a few times but the pool bar opens at 10am for snacks and the terrace bar which offers chicken, steak, pasta etc from 12 - 3. Self service drinks bar for all inclusive customers, own brand beer which my boyfriend didnt enjoy but they are very generous with spirits and often had to ask for an extra lemonade to add to my malibu or smirnoff vodka.

The pool was large and clean as were the grounds and had a football / tennis court which my boyfriend enjoyed. Mini-golf and pool table. The best facilities was the wellness centre which is situated practically underground in the middle of the resort. When you arrive you get a free pass which is usually 12 euros to spend two hours in here, which is really relaxing and well worth a visit. Heated pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi etc and I had a massage which was around 20 euros for 30 minutes which was fantastic.

Location of hotel was great, ten minutes to beach, clubs, shops etc. Though there were 2 supermarkets right next to the hotel for anything... water... lilo... junkfood etc. Taxis are amazingly cheap, no more than 3 euros in the local area and to aqualand - which is definatly worth a visit - was four euros. Aqualand is a great day out open 10-6 but bring plenty of money for enterance, sunbeds, food and pictures they offer. It was around 23 euros enterance fee. Sioux city is a must we went with our tour company, all food and drink are included as well as entertainment. We both got a gun and cowboy hat and had a great time! Perfect for any age.

The entertainment wasnt really our thing at night (and in the day the waterpolo etc was German), and centred around the kids. So we went out nearly every night... The bars around the beach where great for a few drinks and good entertainment. The kasbar is more for the 18-30 crowd and a really good night out and the free drinks was lethal. Grand Chaperal is a 2 minute walk from the hotel as is more small time bars and quizzes and comedians etc and the cocktails in wemblys are great!

All in all playa del ingles is a great place no matter your age and there is plenty to do. The eugenia victoria is great, with lovely rooms (though no air con, the bedrooms are at the back of the room so the ceiling fan is enough) and the maids are fantastic. Would recommend to anyone.

Second time in Grand Caneria - thought I'd better go 3/4 star as we took our daughter of 2 years.

Hotel. I went to this hotel after reading reports in Holiday Uncovered. Yes the foods good - staff very friendly and helpful but be very careful if you arrive and depart in the early hours -you may think you've paid for 7 days but if your leaving in the early hours of the next day they (the hotel) will turf you out of your room 12 mid day. Our Direct Holidays Rep said at the welcoming meet 'don't worry they will let you stay in your room withoute charge if you leave later that day'. will they hell! After I made a fuss they moved us to a small top floor room, but this was afer we had to pack everything. If you go in a busy period there is a chance they wont have any spare rooms so you may find yourself sitting in reception for 12 hours. The explanation given was 'this is normal in all hotels' Yes you pay for 7 days and get 6 1/2.

The hotel quests were predominately German and Dutch, again mainly midle age, there were a group of jobs who drank all day and came bask in the early hours (4am)making as much noise as possible, the hotel seem to have no security to stop this - happily they were dutch not UK.
If you do go to this hotel and I would recomend it for the food, the staff and facilities.
If you think the british have no manners just say 'excuse me' to any of the Germans or Dutch and they look at you shocked. I think the they both dislike each other so much that if they don't know your nationality they immediatly think your one of the opposition.

There is a lot of noise particulary from the main roads and the 18 - 30's who have come for the night life.
If you are elderly the walk to the beach is about 20 minutes and to get from the prom. to the beach but then you have a choice of steep stairs or a hell of a walk.

This hotel was fantastic value. We went all inclusive- so glad we did!!! Food was delicious every nite, huge variety to choose from. The seafood was lush. Lou especially loved the ice-cream - so many flavours to choose from :) Drinks were great too, nothing watered down and also no rubbish brands!!!

The hotel room was very clean, spacious enough for 2 people. Bathroom ok too. Only negative points were not enough plug holes in the room for hair dryer, straighners and music. And only 1 mirror. The hotel entertainment was terrible!!!! Mind you this hotel does only cater for older holiday makers and mostly every one is German/Dutch however the entertainment was in english.

To end on a positive note, holiday was great just relaxed by the large pool during the day, always plenty of sun loungers to go round too. We had a nice relaxing week.

This hotel gets 4 thumbs up :)

We have been visiting Grand Canaria for many years and normally have stayed in Maspalonas an area which we have always been happy with. It was therefore with some apprehension that we booked the Hotel Eugene Victoria in Playa del Ingles.

We were more then pleasantly surprised, the hotel is situated on the outskirts of the centre, and the beach is approximately a fifteen minute walk away, for those who do not wish to walk there is a regular courtesy bus provided by the hotel.

We found without exception the staff to be courteous and helpful and the standard of cleanliness in the hotel good.

The food was excellent and plentiful, all meals in the main dining room were buffet style, with a wide selection of different foods to choose from. We had booked half board but on arrival found that for a further 15 euros a day each, we could go fully inclusive, this included a full buffet lunch, all snacks, icecreams, hot and cold drinks, including many named brands. This was well worth the extra.

There is an outside bar and seating area and each evening the resident duo played and sang many popular tunes, if you like dancing this was the place to be. If you don't dance it was quite entertaining watching others.
There was also evening entertainment provided inside the hotel, the standard of which did fluctuate.

The majority of the guests staying at the hotel while we were there tended to be in our age group and most were European.

The swimming pool, and outside areas were kept very clean with an army of cleaners attacking the area each morning.
There were plenty of sunbeds, and many shades but perhaps not enough for everyone all of the time.

We would certainly return.
