We booked this hotel having read all the good reviews, turned up at 4pm on the Saturday only to be told that there was a "water problem" and we would have to go to another hotel until Monday. We were farmed out to a horrible place two down called the Peurta Vista which was sub standard and on returning on the Monday as instructed told we couldnt return to the Cala D'Or.
I bluffed I was a plumber and asked to see the room for them to admit they had overbooked - we eventually ended up in the Tamanaco which was quiet and nice to be be fair but BEWARE if you want to stay here - you might not!!!
Great resort just dont stay at The Cala D'Or

Just spent a week at these apartments.
Apartments excellent, very clean, small but there was only the two of us so the space was adequate. We were in Apartment 317B.
We arrived on the Monday and everything was fine until Saturday evening, left the apartment about 1930hrs to go for dinner (San Miguels.. absolutely brill) came back about 2300hrs and the apartment had been broken into. They had come in through the bedroom window and removed the SAFE from the wardrobe containing passports, cash, credit cards, camera and mobile phone. We reported this to reception staff and to the Thomsons rep who contacted the local police, who later attended, had a look around and then told us we would have to report the matter the next day at the Guardia Civil in the next resort. In order for us to do this (bearing in mind we do not speak spanish) we had to hire a translator to take us there, complete the report and ensure we had the correct documents to enable us to get on the flight home and back into the UK.
Thomsons's rep's were helpful in the sense that they gave us all the telephone numbers to contact but they were not interested in helping in any other way.

just spent the Half Term holidays at these apartments , our fourth time here and they are still a great place to stay. The whole feel of the place is excellent and it was great to see it was very busy for the week as we had been told the resort was quiet in previous weeks. I think that for Dave ( that well known entertainer from Middlesbrough) it was a welcome sight to see so many people. For the evening entertainment he put on good shows , prize bingo and he is excellent with the young children , on the days a basic programme of games are well attended but guys if you join in the water polo don't expect to beat the girls ever !! , but the mens team got their own back this time ( eh Dave ?). I would reccomend the Barb'q night as it is good value for money and means you don't have to trek to the shopping centre to eat every night. I do not hesitate to reccomend these apartments.
In the resort itself we found the authorities were clamping down on late night noise and had closed down some of the more popular dance bars but here are still plenty of bars and restuarants to visit.

Just arrived back from Cala D'or appts, came back xmas day went for a week booked in oct and got a great deal.
About the Cala D'or appts- The appt was clean and comfy, the bathroom was a good size with a good shower. The bedroom was ok not enougth wardrobe space for all our stuff. The kitchen was fine didn't cook in it but was well equipped and clean. Sitting area was fine the seating made into 2 beds and were comfy big enougth for adults, watch the step down!
More room needed to store suitcases. We had room 306B which overlooked pool and had a good sea view. The only downside was noise from bar at bottom of hill music went on till 3.30am and 6.30am xmas eve this was every night, don't think it would matter what room you were in you would still hear it unless you slept well (cotton wool in the ears helped!).
Reception and Bar staff were very good and helpful, snack food menu was resonable and tasted good.Swimming pool was cleaned every day but water to cold plenty of sunbeds. Entertainment okay (don't know about day as we went out),Daves job was made hard as people disappered in the evening so not many people to entertain,we saw 3 acts, rest of time was quiz and bingo so nothing special but he made us laugth.
Puerto Rico - Weather fantastic all week.200 hundred steps down to centre(you get used to it).Resort very clean as was beach 2 euros for sunbed and umbrellas.Went to lido near beach had heated pool and hot tub kids loved it 8 euros each per day.Now the commercial centre this is where most of the shops, bars and restaurants are we hated this place as you get hassled by all the restaurants touting for your buisness to go in and eat we got really fed up with this and did our best to avoid them.
Went on the Camel Capers trip with thomson this was excellent we didn't stop laughing meal was good as well. Also go to Playa de Morgan this is a lovely place with a real spanish feel, market day on friday take boat, bus or taxi.Playa de amadraeus beach is really clean as is the sea either walk or take a taxi.
Now would we go back - Yes to appts - No to resort unless they got rid of the commercial centre and noisy bars that keep you awake or unless we stayed near the beach end where it is quieter .

Apartments were very clean and had all the facilities for a family of four - pool was clean and well maintaned every day - but not huge.
All staff were very helpful friendly and people constanly cleaning and keeping all areas tidy at all times
Food served from the bar area was very good - and very good value for money we ate there regularly.
Views from our apartment and pool side area were lovely - we were able to look out over the lovely bay and resort below.
Lots of steps from our apartments down to the main resort although we were fairly near the beach compared to some of the much higher apartments.
The resort and the beach were fantastic lots of shopping to be had and some good bargains to be bought - and then a lovely sandy beach with lots of resturants and bars to eat and drink.
Boat trips available from the beach of which we used frequently and really enjoyed - other sports offered too.
Public swimming pool near the beach too.
Lots of resturants in the resort to try all offering different varities of food.
We tried lots of these but our favourite was an italian resturant called Pinocchio's.
We bused around the island visiting lots of sightseeing areas - such as the Sand Dunes and we also spent a day at the waterpark. Both were great fun but we found it was alot cheaper to go yourself than to book trips with the Thomson rep.
The thomson reps name was Linda and she was a very helpful girl.
Our childrens favourite night out had to be the western night out booked with the rep to sioux city.
What a fantastic night for a family -great food great entertainment for adults and kids - all round fun evening.
The cala D'or had a barbecue arranged for one evening with entertainment - the food was excellent and so was the entertainment.
Bus and taxi travel around the island was very cheap.
Both my children agree it was a fantastic place to go on holiday and so do us adults but by far the best thing was DAVE the entertainer at the Cala D'Or apartments he was the perfect host.
Fantastic all round fun for both kids and adults.
Great entertainment everynight - our kids refused to go out anywhere else in the evening because they enjoyed the kids programme so much - both up dancing each night and having a great time. He introduced all the families staying at the apartments that week and the children which made a very good family atmosphere all round.
Thank you very much Dave - kids would like to come back next year - so would we.
