I travelled to the Rosamar with my boyfriend, we are both 20 years old abd we stayed for a week in this hotel.

hotel Rosamar was lovely, the towels were changed every other day, floors washed and beds made. It was clean and the room was of a decent size with basically everthing you need whilst on a self catering holiday, microwave, kettle, cooker, fridge, hairdryer and toaster... so there was literally no need to bring anything.

The staff were all helpful, although the male bar staff on a daytime weren't very pleasant, however this is my only complaint towards the staff. The entertainer is pleasant also.

Safety deposit box was around 33 euros so make sure you have it on you, they may also charge a deposit which will be handed back if everything in the room is left in working order.

The balcony views would be lovely if it wasn't for the ugly building being built infront of the Rosamar, which is incomplete and ruins what would have been a beautiful view of the sea. Which was a slight dissapointment considering how much we paid for the holiday!

The food in the hotel wasn't anything exceptional but there was plenty of choice and it was all you needed really as there are plenty of cafes surrounding the hotel in the bay... Definately eat in the bay then go over to san antonio... as its double the price over there and nothing really has any taste.

Right next to the sea, water taxis available for two euros fifty that take you into san antonio, its well worth it.

I recommend relish for wraps or steaks as it has decent priced food that has taste...

All in all a lovely hotel despite the building work :)

Stayed for three nights in mid may so the hotel was quiet as it was the start of the season. Found the staff to be very friendly, helpfull and efficient, the rooms are large, with decent sized balconies and seem to be well kept, didnt suffer any noise from the street at all as the hotel is a good couple of hundred yards from any noisey bars. Pool seemed a bit on the small size and could become very busy in high season, bar prices are reasonable except for the 1.50 euro cost of a 330ml bottle of water. Would happily stay at this hotel again..can reccomend jackie browns to eat at, turn right at main rd about 10 mins walk on the right

Just back from Ibiza, stayed in The Rosamar for 2 weeks with my boyfriend and 2 year old daughter. Hotel is spotless & staff are great. Unfortunately this hotel isn't a family hotel. We had a crowd of guys on our floor who woke us up everynight when they were coming in from the clubs then the week later another crowd of guys above us that sounded as if they played musical chairs!! Thomsons need to make their minds up before selling this hotel to families looking for a relaxing holiday!!

Dont believe thomson when they say this is not a freestyle hotel IT IS. Before we went we rang, e-mailed, did everything we could to make sure that this was not used for freestyle guests and everyone assured us it was not. When you walk into reception there is a board over to the right which is a FREESTYLE board next to the thomson board. As the broucher states this hotel is ideal for families. I'm sure that families do not want 18-30s running the hotel, they were rude, noisy, had music playing in the corridors until 11-12pm then they would go out, coming back between 5-7am waking everyone up, they were running up and down the corridors(male & female) with little or no clothes on. Ok they go to have a good time, which we do not dispute, but when you are told this hotel is for familys you do not want this. Thomson were reluctant to move us, but when we also complained about the building work (6 cranes around the hotel)they moved us to another family hotel (this one didn't have a freestyle board). So thomson must make their mind up if rosamar is a family hotel or a freestyle hotel. Sorry thomson but the 2 don't mix well together.

The resort is under going a face lift and the pavements are all being replaced, you can see the difference from one side of the street to the other. by next year i would say it will look great. there is a great mix of bars and restaurants. You can get a lovely three course meal for 11 euros. good places to eat are Jackie Browns, Amsterdam which is four restaurants in one where you can choose from Indian, Pizza, Chinese or English and the Horizonte. A good bar is the Pink Panther run by a Sheffield lass. You carnt get better cocktails than here.
the nicest beach near the hotel is called Pinet with great sand and clear blue sea for snorkling.

The Hotel Rosamar is situated in a quiet bit in the middle of the bay so you can go left or right for great food or entertainment. we was surprised how quiet it was due to other reviews stating about noise since it went to freestyle as well as thomson hol. we only had one rowdy night and once we informed reception they came straight up and sorted them out. we could not ask for better service all the staff were very helpful and the rep Jackie was superb.

We would definately stay at this Hotel again.

If you are not 18 - 30 don't bother!

This is our 5th visit to this lovely aparthotel and if I was in my 20's and single - it would have been fabulous!! Thomson persist in keeping Rosamar Hotel in their brochure as a family accomodation but it is also in the 'Young and Lively' brochure.

Over the years the numbers of the 'Young and Lively' holidaymakers have increased (approx 95% when we were there) and Thomson should really now give it over to them for a few years. I would suggest 3 years and then refurbish (soft furnishings in rooms are beginning to show signs of wear and tear)and relaunch as a family hotel.

The staff, cleaners etc were faultless as was Lorenzo the entertainer - but they have now cut the cleaning/towel changes to 3 times a week - not really ideal!

Had a good enough holiday - but resort is really geared for young people now - not much in-betwen -we won't be back to the Bay.

Just returned from the Rosamar and in some ways we were disappointed. Ibiza is a fantastic island and we've previously stayed in Es Cana, but we decided to try somewhere different this year, so we chose San An, but not again...San An isn't really the place to take kids or to go to chill out after working long and hard over here in the UK. We saw clubbers collapsed at the side of the road, idiots stepping out into the road after quite a few drinks and heard foul language that we came to Ibiza to avoid - basically it was just like a typical British town/city but with a beach and the sun!

The apartments were clean, tidy and the cleaning staff were fab! wish I could say the same for the bar tender, in all the two weeks we were there, I never actually saw him smile! Before we went I emailed the hotel, 7-10 days prior, to ask not to be put in the same block as the clubbers - it worked! We had a fab room with a partial sea view and away from all the noise of the pool. Be warned that there are 18-30 clubbers staying here and when we asked the rep she told us that, "; Freestyle is no longer advertised at this hoetal any more, but some could have booked before it was removed, or that they have stayed here before and didn't want to be in the main town area";. But we booked this as a ";family hotel"; and we expected to hear kids playing, but instead we heard swearing, music etc. Don't get me wrong, the young ones were well behaved, but this wasn't why we booked and it wasn't what we wanted. I'm not a party pooper, as I am also a ";clubber";, although slightly older now, but I prefer to be away from the action and I have respect for those staying in the same hotel.

Lucky for us we had booked a hire car for the full two weeks and we made the most of it...
A beach to visit is Cala Comte/Conte, fantastic! but you need to get there early as it becomes like sardines in a tin it's that popular, I believe that there is a bus that takes you there. As usual, there is the hippy market, the water park etc, but explore abit and visit Portinax, beautiful beach and quiet resort, fab for snorkelling.

Ibiza town is worth a look at night time to visit the stalls, but be aware that touts will try and get you to go into their pub - even if you don't drink alcohol like me (when driving). But in Ibiza town be prepared to pay twice as much for your meal as you would in resort.

A fantastic spot to see the sunset away from the clubbers - go out of the hotel and go to the main road, turn left and walk for @ 10 mins until you come to the next resort (more family friendly) until you see a sign for a tabacconists pointing to your right, follow this sign to the bottom of this road and you'll see a little gem! A ";hippy bar and mini market"; on the beach with about 50 people watching the sunset - fantastic!

Please don't be put off by what you read on pages like this, as Ibiza is what you make it at the end of the day - a fantastic island. I will go back to Ibiza, just not San An!

One of the worst family holidays ever!

I went to San Antonio Bay in October 2006 with my Mam and my two young children but stayed at the Las Perlas apartments and we had a fabulous time - returned yesterday from a weeks stay at Rosamar and would NEVER return there again. I took my Husband this time as I raved about our trip there last year - wish I had gone somewhere else now...

Firstly I will say that the hotel was very clean and our room was cleaned very well most days. The weather was fabulous too.

The only problem was that the hotel is part Freestyle (Thomson's name for 18-30 holiday makers) - and is supposed to be a family hotel too.

We had reservations before going after reading reviews regarding this fact on websites (including this one) - we even went into the Thomson shop we booked our holiday at and told them we were concerned - we were informed by them that the hotel is 2 seperate blocks - 1 for families and 1 for Freestyle holidaymakers - and only in very high season (July and August) would there be a chance the two could be integrated.

Well we were unlucky then! As we got put between 4 rooms of very noisy 18-30 holiday makers who came in every morning at 4am and partied in their rooms until 6am or later...!

I had broken sleep for 7 nights and was pleased to come home - my 2 year old daughter woke up screaming from the noise coming from the room next door - shouting, swearing etc.

We did see our Rep on about the fourth day - she told us it was really unforunate we had been integrated in the same block as the 18-30's as this doesn't normally happen in June - clubbers etc usually go out to Ibiza in July/August.

She said she would give us a complaints form to fill out - we declined - what use would it do - they never do anything about it anyway!

She also informed us that the Rosamar has a 'warning' system for noisy/unruly holidaymakers - basically 3 strikes (warnings) and you are out - but then she told us this applies to families too - she said for example if people complained they were woken by families before 8am the family would be given a warning - how crazy is that!?! She mustn't have kids - or knowledge that most young children are up at the crack of dawn and want to be entertained from then! Adults (as you are when you are 18+!) can make a conscious decision to be quiet and considerate and not disturb others...

We enjoyed our time on the island - we even took a trip to Formentera island for the day on our Wedding Anniversary.

Hotel Entertainment?! We stayed in the hotel one evening - as there was supposed to be a mini disco at 8:30pm - there was only two kids there - which were our 2 kids so the entertainment(!?) guy did the disco for our two - which was good of him - then the parrot show was supposed to start at 9pm - but the people doing it turned up and said there was not enough people there to watch it so they would come back later - guess what time they came back - 11:30pm!!
Ridiculous...!

The bars/restaurants all around are OK, our favourite was the Pint Pot - which is situated on the beach front a short walk along from the Rosamar heading towards San Antonio. San Antonio itself was ok too - the fountains at night are lovely to see.

We hired a car for the day and saw all of the major resorts on the island. We visited the Hippy Market (be warned - not good for getting a buggy around) and the water park in Playa d'en Bossa - which the kids loved - which is all that matters.

Another thing - we were on the 2nd floor with a pool view - some inconsiderate moron's above us on the 3rd floor thought it funny to flick their cigarette ash down onto our balcony - covering our towels and swimwear as they were out there drying - not funny, not clever!

I don't even know if I would book through Thomson again - feel let down...

If you are going to the Rosamar - good luck if you have a small family!

the rosamar was great, very clean, staff friendly, food great (but very exspensive).the entertainment in the evenings was very varied and lorenzo (the kids entertainer)did his very best to keep things ticking over during the day.in fact the only thing wrong with the rosamar is that it is in san antonio. what a dump!!at the moment there is building work going on all over the bay and all you can see is cranes and jcb's. in 2 years time this is going to be a totally different resort.

we done 2 excursions which were the castaway cruise and the market mix. the cruise was great, an all day trip on a glass bottom boat stopping at different beaches and places of interest. you stop at a restaurant for lunch and a swim and then on the way home the captain throws bottles of champagne into the sea which you can dive in after.
the market mix trip was a different matter. the hippy market was great with a real buzz about it but with 4 kids following you around and moaning we didn't really enjoy it. it was also very exspensive to book through thomson as all you got was a bus there and back for 116 euros.

the food in the hotel was good and other good places are the old tavern, la bahia (great breakfasts),the slow boat (chinese)and the place to avoid is the smugglers inn.

the beach on the bay is not good (johnnies, bottles and sea-weed) but we did find a fantastic beach about half a mile towards the town

overall we had a great time in ibiza but we would not go back to san antonio. we would definatly go to santa eulalia

we have just recently returned from the worst family holiday ever, the hotel was brilliant we cant fault it 4**** all staff very friendly, the problem is that at night there was no enterainment for the kids at the hotel, all you got was bingo and a dumb quiz, which was ran by someone who looked like he suffered from rigumortice!!!!!!!!!!

the resort is a dump you be lucky to find what they call a beach, because there is none, to get to san antonia bay it will cost you 6 euro, we tried 8 resturants to get ameal for my family we asked for a high chair for my daughter 20months but to no aval we didnt find somewhere with a proper chair , please be warned.

the resturants to avoid like the plague are, florida park 1%beer 99%water.
the place across from the hotel at front door, smugglers inn. But just to let you know the ribs at the hotel are great you should try them!!!!!.

AND TO FINISH OFF THANKS TO ALL SCOTTISH HOLIDAY MAKERS THERE YOU WHERE ALL VERY FRIENDLY,A NATION TO BE PROUD OF!!!!

We found the Rosamar to be a clean and modern complex and spotlessly clean.Infact we could not fault the cleaners who always kept our interconnecting rooms well stocked with clean linen.
The overall feeling is that this is a 3 star rating. Some have rated this as a 4 star, but we felt that there were sufficient niggles to deny it so.

The kitchen, although well equipped is badly designed. You need to be a giant to reach the inaccessible cutlery(6'4"; TALL!!)Both fridges in our respective rooms were minus the freezer door and appeared to have been broken off, meaning that they both either flooded with water or completely froze their contents solid.
The air con was excellent.
The staff were a mix between very polite to arrogant/indifferent.
We felt sorry for the one man entertainer who is a top guy with a dry sense of humour. He seems to have very few resources to work with. That would appear to be the fault of the management who could not,or would not provide the tools to do the job.
Thomsons are wrong to ";hide"; the fact that this is a FREESTYLE 18-30 complex,(although it did not bother us).
Any families with young children should be pretty cheesed off,as contrary to Thomsons slick advertising, there is no Kids club. The majority were young clubbers and generally well behaved. We did experience at least 2 nights where a noisy party congregated from 5am to 7am!!
in one of the rooms in our corridor.

THE RESORT : A DUMP.
We have travelled to Ibiza for several years and to varying locations. Our last memories of the bay area are from about 4 yrs ago when we were based at the MILORD.
We thoroughly enjoyed it and had a good idea of what to expect of the area.
However,we were all shocked as to how much this place has declined. The place is dirty, decrepid and strewn with graffitti. The pavements and roads were falling to pieces and I have to warn downright dangerous in parts.
The street sellers lurk in the back streets and don't hide the fact that the real reason they are there is to peddle ";alternative goods"; It seems that the excesses of the town have spread to the bay.
The bay is entirely geared for the BRITS with an abundance of eateries catering for nothing but fast food washed down with beer and lashings of giant TV footie.

We don't want to knock the place too much, because there are some little gems to be found.
If you want to experience true Spanish food enjoyed by locals, then there are 2 small restaurants together, off the main road up a side street. The best way to find it is to walk towards San Ann Town. You will come to a block where MEDPED and ";THE IBIZASUN"; are located. They're at the end of that block.
Kumharas is an excellent chillout sunset bar and much better that those offered in the town.
BN3 is a reasonable bar /restaurant near the Rosamar and offers excellent food and also doubles as a pre club where transport is offered to the islands clubs.
Directly opps the Rosamar is THE SMUGGLERS.What a cracking place! Run by Paul and Frankie, the banter is second to none, often hilarious and the clientele include expats as well as locals.THE FOOD IS TOP QUALITY. An oasis of calm in a sea of madness and just across the road so you can fall into bed happy.

Overall,if all you want is a bit of of Britain in the sun then look no further.
Would we go back ?
NOT UNTIL THE LOCAL MUNICIPALITY CHANGE THE LANDSCAPE OF THE PLACE.
But so long as the super clubs on the island prop up the island economy then lttle will persuade change. A case of never mind the quality feel the Euro!!
Recent bad publicity won't have helped.
The way it seems to us is that the resort has become little more that a feeder station for the clubs.Whenever the island becomes an all year destination then the place might be cleaned up.

The Rosamar apart - hotel has excellent staff and is very well managed. All areas of the hotel are spotless and the standard of service is kept at a high level with a 'hands - on' manager who oversees all aspects of the hotels day to day running.
Unfortunately, the hotel appears to be totally in 'Thomson' hands and this causes the major problem in as they are trying to provide on the one hand a family / couples base and on the other a 'freestyle' single sex group hotel. To achieve this the hotel has two accomodation blocks and attempts to segregate the different groups in each of the buildings, but in busy times there inevitably is a mixture of groups in one building or the other.

By Thomson trying to cater for these two groups it puts unfair pressure on the hotel.

Thomson markets its 'Freestyle' holiday as 'the getting together of like minded people' to enjoy the social scene as they like, but, by allowing the two different groups to mix within the same terrace / swimming pool area there will always be a problem as pointed out in other comments on this hotel.

As stated initially, the hotel is excellent but it needs to sort out whether it's going to cater for families or 'Freestyle' clients, as far as a base for couples is concerned then there is far more on offer in the north of the island.

We stayed at the Rosamar for 2 weeks. We didnt arrive til half 3am so we were all ready for bed. We were shown to our room and were very impressed, was very clean, had a huge bathroom and everything we needed.
The pool area is lovely, lots of loungers, decent size pool with a smaller one for the kids. The bar/restaurant by the pool was great along with the staff. Couldnt have asked for better service, in particular Juan - he's a legend!! As well as David and Avid ( thats not his real name he just reminded us of Avid Merrion, off the tv :0D ) The food and drinks were very reasonably priced and id recommend the breakfast to any1 who's had a heavy night - is a good hangover cure.

The hotel is very family orientated, Alan the entertainer tries his best to keep all the kids as well as the adults entertained both day and night.
As for bars and clubs, they're good. The bars on the bay are ok although theres not many. BN3 is realy good and only a 2 minute walk from the hotel, does alot of pre-parties for clubs and has a wide range of both food and drink. Peppers 2 is also good and plays lots of good music.
We went to the West End several times, all the bars are very similar but all quite expensive, a round for 4 people at the likes of Bay Bar or Itaca (which are really good) sets u back about 35 euros. You will get alot of ppl offering you drugs but if you say no they leave u alone.
We arranged with our rep, Dave (who was really helpful) to go and see a Drag Queen which was gr8 and also to take part in a night known as 50 cent, where for 30 euro you get all drinks for 50 cent for 2 and a half hours in a bar called krash - was gr8! Then we went on to Judgement Sunday at Eden which was gr8 although we didnt stay long. . .had a few too many!
I'd also recommend Amsterdam Chinese restaurant, about a 10 minute walk away - was absolutely delicious and the staff were really friendly!
Beaches were ok,not brilliant bujt good ebough for a swim and to top up your tan.

All in all the Rosamar was gr8, thoroughly enjoyed it and it has a little something for everyone!!!!
