Valle Gran Rey is the most developed resort on the island apparently. Very quiet but there are a couple of very low key nightclubs if you care to look.
Generally the resort is pretty well presented.I did feel that the effort of getting there was a bit much for a 7 day holiday, by the time you have transferred from Tenerife and then made an arduous taxi ride that takes 1 -1.5 hours accross the island to say nothing of waiting around the port as well. On the way home the taxi picked us up at 6.30 am for an 2.30 flight. Its a long journey before you take off !
Back to the island.
There is some great walking, but we were frustrated by low cloud on the higher inland ground which was like being back in Wales. There is one excellent walk I would recommend straight from Valle Gran Rey. A car is probably essential to get very far and it is quite a drive just to get out of the valley.
Hotel Gran Rey is very nice, the staff excellent. The pool was too cold for swimming at this time of year and there was not too much sunbathing space. Breakfast served upstairs on the terrace was a treat and excellent to boot. The bars are located in the same area.Great to sit out in the evening.
The evening buffet meals are served in the downstairs resteraunt and whilst they are perfectly palatable they are pretty uninspired and was the biggest let down of the hotel.
One visit to this resort would suffice, but I would go for 2 weeks and hire a car for longer than the 2 days we did.
If you don't like walking, think before you book unless you are happy doing nothing at all.
