If you are looking for a full english Mcdonalds, Neon lights and Kareoke bars then La Palma is NOT for you. There is a handful of restaurants in the resort. We are both Vegetarians and we eat out every night with no big dramas. We had a very nice meal in MONTMARTE (opp Apts Olas) lovely food and a well decorated restaurant. TIUNA was another good place to eat wonderful choice on the menu owner can speak english and even understands the British sense of humor the views from each one of his 3 restaurants were fab. We eat a one place which was bad service and bad food which spoiled our evening and im going to name that restaurant as La Lagar. The Spar supermarket is in the middle of the resort and full of the Spanish holiday makers doing there self catering shopping so you know its good.

My advice is to HIRE A CAR AND GET OUT THERE AND EXPLORE. There was more car hire companies in resort than there are sunbed shops in Manchester Even though the island is walker/hirers paradise some places-to-visit are reachable by car. We went to FUENCALIENTE to the volcano,Los Sauces and Santa Cruz EVERYDAY we adored that lovely town.Careful on the LP4(Roque de los Muchachos) as this road will test your driving skills( i lived in Portugal for 12 years and that road made me very nervous) This Island is well worth a visit before it gets too popular so visit now as things will change. ONE MORE PIECE OF ADVICE.... study a bit of Spanish before you go. ENJOY.

These apartments are connected in a prime position within the resort. We hired a car from the airport as we was told it was 15 mins from the airport to Los Cancajos this is not the case it was 4 mins by car. Taxis are ready to take you to resort or there is ...

Cancajos and the airport are on the windy side of the Island making some landings quite scary. If the wind is too bad, flights are diverted to Tenerife and people then transported by ferry. Cancajos is a lovely quiet resort with a few bars and shops. The beaches (black sand) are excellent - spotless and with beach showers. There is abundant sea life around the rocks for snorkelers to enjoy. There is an excellent walkway into Santa Cruz - about 5 km. If you're not into walking then the local buses run every half hour until 11 pm. Santa Cruz is a small town with cobbled streets and some interesting buildings. It is not abundant with shops or night life! There are plenty of walks for the serious 'hiker'. The inland scenery is spectacular and mountainous but you do need good walking boots and a head for heights. La Palma is not like Gran Canaria, Lazarote or Tenerife so if you like night life and noise then leave La Palma for those who enjoy beautiful scenery, peace and quiet - long may it remain so!!!

OverallExcellent Hotel

Just returned from a last minute booking to the Taburiente Playa. This was an excellent choice for us. On the down side, the check in was very slow and could so easily have been improved by more staff to deal with the influx of British visitors. However, ou...

Los Cancajos is a small resort. Not much English spoken so a bit of Spanish is useful. Nice traffic free promenade along rocky coast to black beaches. Best thing about this resort is Santa Cruz

Hotel booked on line - travelled independantly. No complaints, very good hotel, would recommend it. Handy for Santa Cruz & airport. If this island becomes more popular then jet noise could be a problem, as hotel is on flight path. There were not many B...
