Lago Azul Apartments Reviews

We wanted a peaceful week away with good weather and no annoying British drunks, and that is what we got.

Our apartment at the Lago Axul was basic, but extremely clean and was great for our requirements. The staff on the reception were very helpful and friendly. We didn't find the rep service much use to us as the times they were available were during the day while we were out and about.

Because we booked late the cost of our holiday included evening meal at no extra charge. The breakfast buffet was ok, but catered mainly for the Dutch and German guests, who were plentiful. The evening menu was however quite poor. The best places to eat were to be found slightly further along the coast, near to the beach area in los Cancajos, the best of these being 'bar restaurante Tiuna'.

Even with our very rudimentary Spanish we always got what we asked for in cafes, bars and restaurants. If you want a large beer ask for 'una cerveza grande'.

We would highly recommend taking up the opportunity to go on a couple of guided walks with ";Natour";. We did two, one in the volcano's and one in the Los Tilos area; fantastic!! These walks are graded so people with no walking experience can enjoy them too, there was a couple in their 70's walking with us one day!

Hiring a car is not for the faint hearted. I found the local motorists courteous, but the roads in the mountains are quite scary.

Don't go to La Palma if you want foam bar's and disco's, you will not find any and I hope that they never appear.

We had lovely weather and thoroughly enjoyed exploring this beautiful island. The feel is still very unspoilt and I hope the extensive development underway does not turn La Palma into another Tenerife!
