"Cheap and cheerful"
Overall Hotel Rating:
I had read reviews on the Ficus before I went, so I knew what to expect. The rooms were basic but clean. The lock on the balcony was not very secure and our two year old could open it, but the balcony was safe enough, although he still wasn't allowed out there on his own. The food was always hot and enough choice for the week. We started to get fed up of it after 5 days, especially after I found something in my potato. Not lots of drink choice, the usual fizzy and one choice of local beer. I asked for a non alcoholic cocktail, and they said they could not make me one. The staff were all lovely and friendly, the pool was freezing and the entertainment was good for our little boy. We got exactly what we paid for and had a really lovely week, the weather got better and better. If you want a cheap all inclusive holiday then I would recommend Ficus. We met a few families that had returned again and again.I personally wouldnt return to Lanzarote but thats only because I would want to visit other countries.

"January visit"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Very good value for money. We were more than happy with our stay at the Ficus, staff were very helpful, food was basic but good and well presented, the drink was not watered down and was available till 11.30pm. Rooms were very spacious, there was three adults and we had plenty room and beds were comfy. The entertainment staff the two Daves were excellent and worked very hard they deserve 5 stars. We were pleased we went all inclusive as the prices for eating out were pricey the way the euro is against the pound and supermarket prices were very expensive.Overall if you want a good basic all inclusive hotel this is the one to go for as it is well situated for all amenities.

"excellent hotel"
Overall Hotel Rating:
It was our first time in Lanzorote, when we arrived we were dealt with straight away even though it was quite late, there was sandwiches and hot drink available to us. The apartment was spotless and overlooked the pool , it was quiet to, and very spacious, with a full sized cooker in there. You have to pay for tv and kettle though, but we took our own kettle anyway. The pool area was cleaned daily, and there was a bar around the pool area which was always manned well. The entertainment during the day was good to if you wanted to participate, and if you didnt they left you alone, the children were well entertained, on the night they entertained the children and the adults alike they were very good and the bar was manned up well with 2 or more staff at all times. It was a friendly family orientated hotel. The maids came in every day and left towels most days even though it should of been only every other and the apartment was always clean we were very impressed, we had a lovely two week break and would not hesitate to go back again well done Fiscus.

"December visit"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We were all inclusive at this aparthotel and there was non of the regular stigma. Nice apartments, good dining room, nice bar etc. The entertainment wasn't up to much but then again it was December and the hotel wasn't full but it didn't stop us having fun. The staff were great and very helpful and always made you feel welcome. The whole place was clean and tidy and the pool was immaculate. It was a good 10 minute walk in to the town centre although there was bars etc on the door step. We will be going back in the near future

"Ficus "
Overall Hotel Rating:
My husband myself and three children ages 16 14 12 have just come back from the Ficus. On 1st impression the reception was in a need of a face lift, everything was old and dated, however on the plus side the staff were very friendly and keen to help. We had 2 rooms & they were very clean, and the beds had fresh matress covers on and laundered pillows, however sheets came off by the end of night as they weren t a brilliant fit. The furniture was old, some falling apart, drawers taken out of the dresser under the mirror, and there were a few broken/loose tiles. Towels were provided but they were well used, and stained, good job i took plenty of my own! We were put on the ground floor near all the trees which made the rooms dark with not much to look at. We asked to be moved and fortunately for us they did move us to the top floor which was much better, however we could not see the pool area due to the top of the trees! so we had a sea view instead but was spoilt by scruffy waste ground which surrounded hotel. We were also near to the entertainment bar which although it shut at 11.30 it tended to be noisy as people congregate outside afterwards. All staff were happy to help and polite, my only critisism is that they were constantly walking round and swiping your plate as soon as you put your knife and fork down, if you leave your seat to get something else you come back to no plate! Some days the food was good but nor muvh for kids. There was always plenty of choice but the bacon was nothing like bacon, and the bread and butter is awful. Pool was freezing and you had to be brave to get in, however it was clean. The area around the pool was very slippery even when walking, you also had to be an early bird to get a sun bed as despite the requests not to reserve them people always do. Entertainment was poor, it was more for under 10s and a lot of bingo and quizzes. Dave and Lynn were the entertainmentment team, Lynn being better with the kids. Dave was mostly good at what he does however we and a lot of other guests thought he had his favourites and found him quite arrogant at times. The road to the hotel is in total darkness so you have to watch your footing at night. Despite all these gripes we still had a good holiday and most people were very friendly, we made some lovely friends who we will keep in touch with. Holiday is what you make of it and it didnt spoil our hols but we wouldn t go back to the Ficus unless they revamp it & sort out the foo

"gopher GO FAR Away from here "
Overall Hotel Rating:
In my opinion do not waste your money going to these appartments
you are charged for the use of the lead for the kettle 1 Euro a day 3 Euro a day for TV
Food is repetitive and not cooked properly second day there i got a piece of chicken and it was not cooked right.
They changed the drinks policy without due regard to anyone else because someone abuse it by ordering 30 drinks at the one time and when i went to complain and was threatened with the police. Pool is freezing cold
These appartments are also not Child freindly (ie) 4 stairs when you enter the room. There is no Childrens entertainment unless your child aged two can play Killer darts, Killer Pool, Lilo Raceing, or Pool Polo. suitable for families with children from the age of 12 onwards.
The play area is unsafe for young children (ie) has black ash not sand or rubber matting
you are also charged plenty for the launderette and it does not clean or dry them properly it cost me 22 Eruo.
Basically what i am saying is safe your money and do not use these facilities

"Brilliant Family Holiday"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We are a family of four and our 2 children aged 9 and 5 loved the place. The food was great and we never went hungry. Yes you do get chips all the time but the kids didnt complain and at snacktimes they simply made up a chip sandwich which satisfied them. On 3 of the 7 nights they had a carvery with turkey, lamb and pork. Most nights there were lovely dishes with plenty of chicken and fish, all freshly cooked. My children are rreally fussy eaters but never went hungry. Breakfast consisted of a full english where eggs were cooked fresh on the griddle in front of you. And yes the bacon is the typical spanish streaky type but you are in a different country so dont expect the typical english back bacon you are used to at home. In the evening after dinner, they place on a supper which is simply bread, cheese and usually ham, tomotoes, oinions and lettuce and this is great for a small snack before bed. Rooms were great, a little bit worn but spacious and comfortable and the added bonus of a fridge was great for storing your water. The hotelis away from the hussle and bussle of the centre but only a few minutes away. Overall a great place to stay, staff were really eager to please. We would defo go back here and we usually dont go to the same place twice. Very good family hotel...highly recommended

"its good"
Overall Hotel Rating:
The Ficus was a very nice place. The sunbeds were readily available. A good family resort ,food was exellent apart from mexican night where the food was very spicey. Dave and Simon were the entertainers (day + night). Dave was very good, Simon was the complete opposite and he tried to be funny yet he wasn't. He said kid were horrible(but swore). Overall it was enjoyable.

"Great fun "
Overall Hotel Rating:
Anyone who complains about this place need to stay back in rainy england. Great place to stay, met some quality people, food was good always something to eat.The entertainmen team (Simon & Dave) were fab. Pool was graet always something to do. We had a great time.
"Below Average"
Overall Hotel Rating:
The actual apartment rooms were very nice. The food didn't go down well with our stomachs. This meant we couldn't eat at the hotel, and wasted money going all inclusive. The pool was way too cold to go in, and it was very hard to get a sunbed. To get to the shops/bars/beach you had to walk across a long stretch of gravel. The room service was good though the maids don't come fridays or sundays.
I would never recommend this hotel.

"Family Friendly"
Overall Hotel Rating:
The all inclusive Ficus is well located in Teguise. Far enough out to ensure it is quiet, though close enough that if you're prepared to walk for 4 or 5 minutes you're at the shops, bars or even on the beach.
The Ficus itself seems to be Sunset (Thomas Cook) orientated and this is certainly a good thing. We booked through an independent agent (youtravel - via Broadway) and we never saw our rep once. We partook in the Thomas Cook welcome meeting, joined in their activities and used their services for our activities whilst on this wonderful island.
The entertainment is very run of the mill as you would expect on a family holiday and the food was good for meat eaters, though the selection became limited when my vegetarian partner was trying to have 3 varied meals a day.
The complex is clean, tidy and seems in a good state of repair.
We felt the area to be safe and the children were in order to make their own entertainment without constant intrusuion from adults.
All of the staff were friendly and helpful.
Dave & Simon the main 2 reps for entertainment (day & night) worked hard and ensured everyone had a good time...dragonfly!!!
The flights both ways were with XL and we found them to be fine. We have used them beofre and will use them again.
Servisair the handler at Gatwick was garbage resulting in a 2 hour delay in the bags being off loaded from the plane...not impressed, though this will be taken up seperately.
All in all a good holiday, we met some lovely people, you get what you pay for and we were not unhappy.

"w taylor 1st may 2008"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Went to the ficus apts with my husband and daughter aged 15, on 1st may.We was pleasantly surprised at how nice this place was. We've been to puerto del carmen before, which is more livlier than teguise, i much prefered costa teguise. The apartments were basic (but nice), the food was good and the entertainment was very good, especially if you have small children. Prior to going i was told it was very windy in teguise, well we never felt a wind, it was 110 degrees and any bit of wind we did get was welcome and we are sun worshippers. The beach was a nice 5 mins walk. The reps worked so hard and were very likeable. We are not fussy, but do have standards, i'd say to anyone whose booked to go this accomodation thers nothing to worry about, you'll have a fantastic time. We will return in another few years, not sooner, only because theres other places we want to try.

"fantastic holiday"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Firstly I'd just like to say the people who complain about this hotel must just be plain fussy as my boyfriend and i had a fantastic holiday at the Ficus.
Yes the rooms could do with a lick of paint and some updating but if you can look past the cosmetic issues its clean and extreamly comfortable. There rooms are huge with seperate bedroom to the living room (that has a fridge tv sofa and table and chairs) and all rooms have a balcony and the majority look over the pool.
The food is good. Breakfasts are amazing with everything you could wish for... pancakes, bacon sausage 3 types of egg beans tomatoes, crossants, toast cereal fruit yoghurt, everything!! lunch and tea have a wide variety everyday, sometimes you get the sames things a few times during the week but there is so much to choose from that doesn't matter!
The maids come 5 times a week and if you leave your towels in the bath they will change them everytime they clean you room. Yes they only change the bed linen once a week but lets be honest how many people change there beds twice a week at home, i certainly dont!!
The staff are friendly and will sort out any proplem you have as soon as they can!We had a couple of problems which the reception staff were great about and very helpful.
The pool is lovely, a little cold but very clean as is the pool area both of which are cleaned every day. And there are plenty of sunloungers, the hotel was full whilst we were there and there were still spare sun loungers evryday although some people did still get up and reserve them at 7am!
The beach is a 5min walk over a stoney path, there are bars and restaurants an a supermarket at the end of the road, including lanzarote aquarium and a gorgeous little pizza takeaway which is well worth stopping at for a midnight snack!
to top it all off the weather was amazing! a lovely little hotel that we will definately return to, what more can i say!!
