A load of us stayed here coz it was cheap as chips. We had a great time, its nice and quiet, no groups of lads and no hassle. A 10 minute walk and you are in the centre of Matagadora - which is a complex of shops, bars and food places. To get to P De Carmen you need to get a taxi, there is a taxi rank 2 mins away, it wont cost any more than 5 euros to the Casino. The rooms are basic, most are over 2 floors with a balcony and table and chairs outside. The food is served until 4 pm, they have a paddie if you order too much as the bar, food etc are all run by the same person. I really enjoyed it, the pool is good, the location is ace (for the airport and the beach), am sure you could get better but am sure you'd pay alot more in euros - PS if you arraive late you call a number of the reception door - when you call the number they tell you that the key is under the mat!!! Anyone who wants to know more can e mail me on wazercarboneyATlive.com !!!

The las marinas apartments were clean, but were a bit shabby they could have done with a bit of updating but if you're after a cheap week away, and all you use the apartments for is to sleep, get a wash and changed like we did then you would be fine. Only issue we had was that there was an ants nest upstairs in the bathroom, nothing major a spray of ant killer did the trick and we didnt see them again for the rest of the stay. Apartments were kept clean the cleaners came around every day, but towels were only changed three times and sometimes they smelt damp but we had our own so wasnt that much of an issue for us. The pool area was really clean, pool cleaned out every day only 44 apartments so was quite quiet and you always managed to get a sunlounger and the pool wasnt too busy. There was a poolside bar it was only open 09:30 - 17:00 so if you wanted a few drinks in the hotel on an evening before you went out you would need to buy your beer in. There was nothing wrong with the food but I thought it was a little over priced if you walked down the road to the shopping centre you could get more for your money. Receptionist and the staff at the resort we always polite and helpful. There seemed to be a different cook in the pool bar every day and one of them was a bit snappy but the rest of them were lovely. Location : The apartments are up a slight hill, and I do mean slight! There is a supermarket across the road although I thought they were a but expensive so went to the spar which was in the main shopping centre of matagorda. You can order a taxi from hotel or taxi rank is 5 mins down road. Beach is 10 mins down road. 5 mins from airport could hear planes through day but none at night. Quiet at night as away from the main bar area. Couldnt have asked for a better location. From some of the reviews I have read about las marinas I really didnt know what to expect but all it was a lot better than I expected and for the money I would go again.

OverallVery Good Resort

Matagorda is a quiet area of puerto del carmen, there wasn't a huge selection of restaurants or bars so if we stayed local we found ourselves in the same bar / restaurant. A few shops but not many you're better off getting a taxi to the main strip of puerto...

Las Marinas apts are basic and small, but what more do you need when you're on holiday? My friend and I spent two lovely weeks there. The pool is absolutely beautiful - freezing, but beautiful! Really clean and while we were there, not overcrowded. Must admit to having probably the worst apt on the complex, as we were awoken each morning to the ramblings of the maids and staff, just outside!! All in all, we paid £250 each for two weeks including flights. Nothing to complain about there and at the end of the day, most people will find something to complain about. Staff were lovely and I would stay there again. The apts are at the top of a pretty hefty hill, but great to work off all the beer and food!!

Matagorda was pretty quiet when we went and the entertainment there was limited, however you get a very warm welcome in the bars and restaurants. Very laid back place, we thought, but did find everything quite expensive, especially with the state of the eu...

Stayed at these apartments in May 2008. Must say that from the previous reviews that have been written these apartments seem to have gone down hill. The pool bar now shuts at 5pm, which is a nuisance if you have been out for the day and fancy a pint on your return before getting dressed to go out in the evening. The last orders for food were at 3.45pm and this was very strictly adhered to.

Must say though the apartments themselves were very clean and spacious, although if you want any extras like an iron you have to pay. You also have to pay quite a hefty sum for a TV remote to work the TV, personally we did not bother.

Must say that Las Marinas being at the top of the hill was quiet exhausting, but it did wonders for the "keep Fit Regime", but after a few pints down in the main part of Matagorda it was a case of making a few stops on the way.

On the whole I thoroughly enjoyed Matagorda, the bars and restaurants are all extremely good, and the food we had was excellent. Puerto Del Carmen is only a bus ride away and for 1 euro was extremely good value. Was told about the Plaza 17 restaurant in Arrecife, the views are amazing and the food is extremely good and cheap. This restaurant is on the 17th floor of the Grand Plaza Hotel which you cannot miss as it is the only skyscraper around. A visit here is highly recommended. We also took a bus to Playa Blanca which was about an hour journey but well worth it only cost 3 euro each and made a good day out, although we found that the bars and restaurants were a little more expensive.

On the whole we love Lanzarote and would visit there time and time again, although would not return to Las Marinas. Just a bit too out of the way for our old legs.

arrived 8.20pm was in apartment after checking in at 8.30pm i asked for lower floor near pool and thats exactly what we got.pool/recption/bar area lovely and clean was bit shocked at how small apatment was but to be honest got used to it pretty quickly pool at front patio garden at back all essentials in apartment.reception staff especially roberto couldnt do enough for us.bar/cafe staff ok but breakfast not great but cheap and cheerful, the hill going up is really quite steep as i had stomach problems had to get taxi from town up which is only 10 minute walk but only cost about £1.50 great taxi service into p.del carmen around £3-£4.00

eating out we found the beast restaurant to be la parrilla on the main square serving everything from omelletts to lovely sreaks friendly and fairly priced, night time we tried different places but the best nights were without doubt roc-ola bar with karaokes cabarets, live singers etc george and lyn who run it made us very welcome, also the irish bar first and last where eamond the barman always gave us a warm welcome and ensured we got our cabs ok.the owners were great the wife running the bar always had a happy face and john entertains every night singing all the requests and playing the guitar.but if this isnt your cup of tea plenty other bars about and right near the sea the beach was lovely although as normal windy.dont book taxi transfer before you go as this avarages at around £45.00 return where as local taxis only charge around £8.00 each way!!!

hope this helps, would we go back YES
