Sol Lanzarote Reviews

We stayed here for 7 nights towards the end of August 2008. While it is in a great location and has excellent facilities for the kids I was very disappointed with the apartments themselves. We arrived to our room to find a large pool of water by the fridge where the freezer had defrosted. I found the bathroom very smelly and not as clean as I would have expected. Also when we pulled out the sofa bed to sleep that night it was not made up. Our telephone would not work so I had to go down to reception to get someone up to have our bed made. I travelled with my husband and two kids 2 & 8. We had a small table which would only sit one so the kids ended up eating on their beds. Overall we were very disappointed with the apartments. The complex itself was very good and the entertainment for the kids was very good. It is minutes from the beach and there is a lovely walk along the beach front to all the pubs and restaurants. We would definetely stay again in the resort of Matagorda but will never stay in the Sol Lanzarote again.

Arrived on 24th July for 14 days, got checked in within 5 minutes (They take passport details rather than taking your passport from you) Our room was one of the flintstones themed rooms with a Fantastic pool and sea view. We were half board and really pleased with the high quality of all meals, 2 chefs in the morning cook fresh pancakes and omelettes to your requirements. Same again in the evening, This time cooking fresh meat, pasta and fish recipes. The highlight of the holiday was the hotel entertainment team, They work tirelesly all day and night, entertaining both adults and children (kids club is for 5 to 12 year olds) We got a sunbed every day for a fortnight no problem (all beds were taken by 10.30am most days) This hotel is very good for a relaxing family holiday, You and the kids will have more enjoyment the more you join in with the activities, however there is no pressure at all to do so. The sandy beach is 20 strides from the hotel across a pedestrian promenade which is ideal for joggers as it's flat and safe. We had maid service 7 days a week with fresh towels daily. Speaking to many other hotel guests we heard no complaints and only saw 1 cockroach all holiday. Kope to see some of the great friends we made next year.

Stayed here 2nd week in June, Hotel is lovely, rooms are excellent with large bathroom and sitting room we were half board but were given a self catering unit which was great. Room are spotless maid in everyday. The grounds are cleaned everyday, (watch out for pool man you are not allowed to reserve beds, he will move any towels that are left, which is fine as there are loads of beds anyway). The entertainment staff seams to do a great job with the kids, and there is some adult entertainment during the day i.e. rifle shooting, football, darts, etc. Dont pay the extra for the transfer from airport, just get a Taxi at the door 9 euros and takes only about 10min max. Although you are close to airport noise isnt an issue. The staff throughout the hotel are pleasant and helpful, with the exception of the bar staff, which can be really slow but hey your on holiday. Only downside is the food, typical mass produced chips, battered veg, and although it is edible some nights were a struggle. Loads of nice bread though.

our first trip to lanzarote and we were pleasantly surprised with this hotel as we had read some mixed reviews before we went. The hotel was set out very well and was clean and pretty. The views from our apartment were lovely, and we woke to the sea breaking on the beach. The pools although cold were cleaned regularly and were never too busy, We did see a few beds being reserved but were never not able to get a bed for all of us. The childrens entertainment was excellent and included all the kids in their activities. well done to Arne, bea, Christina and the rest for keeping our kids happy. matagorda is quiet with not a lot to do but with the evenings being spent watching the entertainment in the hotel we could not complain. We have only ever returned to the same destination once and that was to Florida! we will definately be going back to the SOL Lanzarote.

The Sol Lanzarote is much better now it has been refurbished. The reception are very friendly and the animation team are lovely. The entertainment is a bit predictable but they try very hard. The location is a fair distance from the center but taxis are about 3 euros so its not really a problem. The new seafront area is particually nice for an evening stroll. One of the bars in the local center say that a discount card is starting in Lanzarote in June and if we had got one we would have had 20 percent discount in their bar and loads of other shop and restaurants. We asked about this as we were very dissapointed not to have been offered one but they are only available a fortnight after we had left! Next time. There will be a next time as we did have wonderful sunshine and a very relaxing break. Thanks to all the team at the Sol Lanzarote.
