"they were overbooked!"

Overall Hotel Rating:

Poor

Open quote

Cannot comment because when we arrived we were told that there was no room for us even though we had paid in full 7 months previously. We were sent off to their sister hotel with a so called upgrade to all inclusive and where we would not have to pay for air conditioning or the safe and the resort was very quiet. Needless to say we were not happy, 1 did not want all inclusive as we like to eat out at different places 2 did not want a quite resort. There was no choice. At the new place there was no all inclusive, merely a free breakfast in the restaurant which was only open for 3 days out of the 10 we had paid for and there was absolutely no shops or even anywhere you could purchase a bottle of water. Our Agent was on The Beach who did nothing to help saying we had been upgraded so could not complain despite the fact we did not pay to be in their sister complex with no entertainment or shops or anything around. We would never return to this country or stay/book for Cay Beach Sun because we didnt actually stay there and we would never use On The Beach because all they could say was everywhere was fully booked. A total waste of money and no-body gave a dam and I am disgusted with how Cay Beach Sun treated us.

"Good bargain holiday"

Nice hotel for the money. Rooms were good, but entertainment was non-existent! There were a few issues with wobbly hand rails around the complex and in the indoor pool, didn't see anyone get hurt but if you relied on them too much there could be an accident. Bar ran out of Baileys (or equivalent) a couple of times, but there were other drinks available. Bar was a bit of a shambles at times as one of the bar men had a habit of running away half-way through the order! Overall, had a good time though so nothing to really upset us.

We found the accommodation to be dirty, the towels old with holes. The pool area dirty and in need of some repairs cracked tiles loose tiles. The hotel was very under staffed and the staff they do have are not at all helpful or friendly!! The entertainment was shocking!! And very disappointed at the lack of food suitable for children. All in all very disappointed!!

"Poor Facilities"

Could be much better, with a lot of improvements. The flight was delayed arrived at the complex at 11-15, nothing open, could not get a drink, were given a bag with a small bottle of water and some awful messed up food. Then given our keys and had to hunt for our rooms in the dark with no help, very poor. Short of staff, needs another bar in evening, only one is in the disco area, with only one staff on,queing like macdonalds. These was a seating area outside the bar ,but it was by the entrance to the toilets. Sports bar had a bar counter in it,but no facilities. The First Choice clients all seem to be put out of the way at the rear of the complex. We were in room 402,which had a so-called patio area approx 4ft x 8ft,which the sun never got to. Ater complaining to the First Choice rep we asked for a pool view, he said that due to the companies health and safety policy the British were not allowed on the first floor apartments. After texting to your hotline we were finally given a first floor poolview. We felt that the complex was more geared to the Polish. The staff there were very pleasent and had to work very hard The Playa Blanca area was excellent and would consider going back ,but certainly not to Cay Beach Sun.

"Ok for Self Catering"

We found the accomodation to have lovely hotel rooms basic but adequite, pool area and slides were great and location literally a 10 min walk from everything so in the bigger picture it was ok. BUT...we went on an all inclusive basis and found the staff to be rude, we booked it with the understanding of 'hotel run entertainment' but this was just a joke. The food was disgusting, it was salty and bad quality, the aircon in the larger areas (i.e restaurant and main entertainment room) was not working so was uncomfortable and with regards to the entertainment staff...if your english then u may aswell go home, because u wont be included in anything and you wont be able to understand anything lol! The team went from aprox 5 to 2 while we were there so maybe if more staffed we may have felt differently. They did have daytime activites but of a night time it was VERY disapointing...the minidisco for the kids started at 8.30 and was finished by 8.50 and then whatever came after that was usually over by 10.20 - 10.30 and then the bar shuts at 11 and u have nothing else to do than go out and spend money or go to bed! Im on holiday - i dont want to be snoring at 11!!! We were promised a parrot show the 2 saturdays we were there and both nights it didnt turn up! It was unbelieveable! We spent a fortune going out for meals and trying to find some sort of entetainment for the kids. We found ourselves using the nearbly H10 Lanzarote Princess hotel as the entertainment their was amazing and kept my 2 boys (4 & 8) happy but when paying all inc at the Cay Beach then that is something that I would have expected from there. So as a whole I wouldnt go back but i would give the advise that it is a nice property as long as your self catering. Hope this is helpfull :0)

where do i start it is horrible , if you want to get up at 5:30 in the morning to get a sunbed under the shade well here is perfect for you, there are not enough sun beds or parasoles and it is forbidden to reserve sunbeds but everyone does it so you have to and told the hotel staff but didnt do anything. That is just one of the 17 reasons why this should not even be a holiday resort!

Basic. No entertainment for kids 5 to 12 years old. Mainly Polish. Pay extra for everything including rubbish air con. Food limited and repetitive. Local beach beautiful and Playa Blanca lovely. If I never see Pork stew again it will be too soon.

couldn't fault the apartments, except cleaner didn't clean patio till the day before we left, so what with a sand storm and bird droppings not nice. many steps but ramps for wheelchair access, must use lift if not happy with steps to go to the restaurant. downfall of this holiday was the hotel catered for the Polish, entertainment was rubbish all polish reps. quite a walk to the main centre also.

the hotel is polish run which is not advertised, the food is diabolical as is the entertainment, the bar was run by one man, our apartment was very tired infact i went to open the bedroom window and it fell in on me. The hotel was sold as 3* and the rep at the hotel who had a couldn,t care less attitude told us it was 2*. Traveled with thomson first choice for the last nine years always done us proud but not this time , think twice before you book this hotel, also it was my husbands 50th while we were there not a nice way to spend it. p.s can,t get a drink after 11 o,clock they throw you out of the bar

The hotel offers good value all inclusive for families, the food could be better, but it was okay and there was something to eat every day that was suitable for adults and children, although repetative. The swimming pools were good, although the 2 kids pools were 30cm and 40cm deep and the other 2 pools were depths of 1.5m all round, a pool with a shallow end would have been nice for small children. The slides are an added bonus for kids. The location was good, only a short walk to the promenade, beach and shops where there was a good choice of restaurants and bars.
