"Not a 4 star"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Plus points. We were given room 039 so we knew that we would be on the ground floor. After a route march we finally got there. It was a family room we were told and was quite big with two single beds, a settee, coffee table and t.v. There were two wardrobes and a dressing table as well. The bathroom was nice and we had clean towels every day. Our room overlooked the pool and was quiet. The pool area was large and there was no problem finding a sunbed. The sunbeds were plastic but you could hire a mattress and towel for 60cents per day. Minus points. Dining room, most times you had to queue to get in the dining room as there were not enough staff to clear the dirty tables and reset them. A few smiles wouldn't have gone amiss. Food was certainly not four star. Most of the time lukewarm or cold. Not much choice for dessert. I don't class chicken livers, rabbit and squid as four star food. Entertainment was rubbish. Parrot show, birds of prey, magician. The drifters appeared and then came another night as the Four Tops! Some of the hotel had been refurbished but it needs to be closed down and done right through. The corridors were dark and carpets were old and threadbare in places. The lift from the first floor to the groung floor was out of order nearly every day and I had to report it several times. There was a piano bar which was very nice but you couldn't have a conversation with anybody beacuse the piano and saxaphone player were that loud you had to shout to one another. Happy hour was five til six and there was plenty of staff to serve until about eight pm when most of the staff went to the entertainment room and left two to serve in the piano bar for the rest of the night. The balcony lights went off early so if you wanted to enjoy a drink and a read before you went to bed you had no chance. Most of the staff had a smile for you but the rest could have done with course in customer relations.
