Arrived in the evening given keys to a 2 bed apartment in g block . Very spacious with a good walk in shower ,2 balconys 1 with sea view . Found that pool area not big enough for size of complex . If you wanted sunbeds you needed to be up early and by the pool at 8am . Entertainment in bar was very good but drinks over priced and varied in price on what bar staff were on duty . We found a great bar opposite the main door of the complex . Its called the Celtic Inn run by Mike and his family . Good food and drink prices . Had some good meals out , puerto del carmen about 15 min walk when turning right from the hotel and Matagorda about the same when turning left . Beach is flat but very blustery and the sand very hot .The weather did reach into the 100s a few days . Some entertainment around the pool and waterpool most days . The maids where good and changed the towels nearly every day as long as you put them in the sink . The sheets were changed regular aswell . Overall we had a good holiday . This was a good base and would say its better for older children rather than toddlers .

Good holiday base. Apt nice and good selection of extras including gels, comb, shoe shine, shower cap etc all left for our arrival. Although we hired a safe, my 15 year old daughter left her 140 euros in her bag in the bedroom which were stolen (probably by a staff member) between 11.30 and 1.00 pm on the second day of our holiday. This put a dampener on things a bit but was our fault for not having everything in the safe.
The pool area is quite smallish when busy but is kept very clean and there are plenty of loungers as long as you reserve before 10.00 am.
Didn't try the restaurant. Ola Bar/Restaurant next to the amusements in the adjacent commercial centre does the most fantastic paella - you must try it!!
Mucky Duck OK but food service was very slow on one occasions (waited 1.5 hours for 4 meals).
Go left towards Jameos hotel and there is a good (if small) selection of shops, restaurants and pubs to chose from. It took us 25 minutes to walk to edge of Puerto del Carmen but here there is loads.
Took bus trip to Costa Teguise which is a very nice resort, although we saw most of it in a few hours.
Old town of Puerto del Carmen has some excellent restaurants and the harbour area is nice for a stroll.
34-37 degrees most days when we were there in August 2006 - so when the wind blew it was a very welcome relief.
Had a good holiday apart from robbery and would recommend the apartments and resort although hope you will be more sensible with the safe than we were.

Given room E25 , excellent sized two bedroomed room , massive balcony and good pool view.- only negative was that it was too close to the maids' office , they yapped very loudly very early.
The accomodation was cleaned daily , the maids were a good set of grafters.
The breakfast was ok , nothing to get excited about.
As others have mentioned the pools were ok but in peak season there is limited space to sit around them - got to get there early for a spec.
We met half of Dublin at the hotel. There were very few english.
After trying many varied places to eat I found the Mucky Duck 2 ( 50m from hotel)to be a good spot for some dinner. If you are prepared to pay a bit more and want to get away from the traditional tourist menu try the Kinsale - top quality Irish cooking , the fillet steak was out of this world .It is located in the middle of the Los Jameos shopping centre about 500m away.Sometime throughout your holiday you will travel the 2 mile or so into P D Carmen , here there is a massive choice of restaurants , the best one I tried was the Chiquito Tex Mex , it is a few mins walk past Macdonalds on the main road towards the Old town.
Rancho texas park is a good day out , about 3 euros in a taxi
Costa Mar is a great place for any age group. The rooms are large and airy and most of the balconys are huge with great views of the nearby beach.
There is no kettle in the kitchen area but there are pots and pans and plenty of cutlery, plates etc.

Never really used the pool area much as there is a huge beach infront of the complex and it is a short bus ride into the main beach at puerto del carmen.
The complex is on the outskirt of puerto del carmen but a half hour walk takes you into the main town. If you don't want to walk it costs about a euro on the bus or 3 euros in taxi for about a 2 min journey.
The are a few shops and restuarants in front of the complex and as other reviewers have said a great wee irish bar.
Yes the singing has to be seen to be believed but hold onto your white wine!!!
In the main town there are hundreds of places to eat and drink. Our favourites were the lani's restuarants which are everywhere. They are not that cheap but you always know that the food is going to be good.
One jem we found was the terazza on top of the casino. Not that busy for some reason. Don't know if people were itimidated by it but its really lovely there with comfy seats, relaxing music and great views of the sunset. I would highly recommend a visit here.
The best thing about costa mar is that it's 10 minutes from the airport so the is no long bus journey at either end of the holiday.
Would definatley go back again.

We were very pleased with the accomodation at the Costa Mar apt/hotel. Very clean, spacious with every facility you could need. The hotel and grounds were well kept. Pool was good with plenty of sunbeds, evenso the beds without mattresses on do get very uncomfortable after a few days, so we went to the beach for a comfy lie down, its just a five minuite stroll away. Enjoyed a drink in the Slainte Irish bar which is opposit the hotel. A very welcoming place to go. They have a sing-song and a good laugh every night. Matt the landlord is a great guy, and is sure he is the best singer in Lanzerote.
A good lunch time meal to be had at the Jungla Bar with quality food at fair prices, also very clean.
A good holiday, we would go back without hesitation.
