Our first 3 days were very enjoyable as we relaxed around the pool area & at night watched the hotel entertainment after a long stroll to work off the fantastic evening meals. However the hotel was then invaded by 170 Spanish students who showed no respect at all for the other guests. They NEVER stood in a queue at the pool bar just pushed there way to the front as if everyone else were invisible. At night they just got worse disrupting the bingo & entertainment & were singing & shouting till 5o.clock in the morning as they returned from the nightclubs. If I wanted that I would have went to Magaluff. There was a great diverse of guests at the hotel ranging from families with kids to handicapped people & I felt as tho oil & water just not mix. These young people should never have been allowed to get away with there behaviour.I will not be retuning to this hotel as they totally SPOILT my holiday.

When it came to breakfast and dinner i was amazed to see how much food there was... row after row of food, ill blame the hotel if i put on a load of weight after a week of staying there lol

outside the hotel was a massive pool and about 100 sunbeds where i would spend all day and relax in the blistering hot sun, also Mad Max (awsome entertainer!) would come around and make us play games like Water polo, paella quiz etc

Evenings were defently the best, Bingo Bongo was really fun, ill never forget Max's Mixy Mixy Shaky Shaky dance, was halarious also i wont forget the barmen they were awsome! Rafeal was def my favorate, his constant flirty winks kept a smile on my face and made me want to go up and get more drinks and he would make the perfect Ammereto and Lemonade haha

overal i loved everything about the hotel and staff and atmosphere, as i soon as i can afford it i will def go again. anytime of the year, i reconmend anyone go there and will have a awsome time!

"Hotel Marina Rey Don Jaime"

Just had a holiday at the Rey Don Jaime, largely on the reviews in Holidays uncovered. Unfortunately we were not impressed. The hotel building was excellent but then everything else was down hill. The food was edible but not much choice, and often cool to cold. Fortunately they had a microwave. The evening "entertainment" was nearly nonexistant. Although we would have preferred to say in the hotel in the evening we had no choice but to go out. The youngsters in charge of the entertainment worked vey hard but who wants to be entertained with residents making a fool of themselves. Unfortunately as well the mosquitos were out in force and they took a likely to my blood so I was forever being bitten. I think the hotel could have sprayed the rooms more often (not necessarily all the bedrooms) but definitely the public places to help oliviate the problem. One last word. It was not worth the money we paid out.

We have just returned from our third visit to the Don Jaime and it was like returning home!Although the reception, dining room and lounge has been refurbished(it looks very smart)nothing else has changed,There are not many hotels that treat you as a person and not a room number. The staff are very friendly and will go out of their way to help you with anything you need. The food choice has improved on last year and there is more vegetarian choices.Max, Rosh and Oli (entertainment staff) will keep you occupied everyday with the madcap activities and the evenings are great too, with professional acts as well as Max's famous Bingo Bongo and quizzes. The staff also do their own show which is really worth watching. The hotel is perfectly situated for visiting Santa Ponsa. It is ideal for disabled guests as it is very flat. The bedrooms are due to be refurbished during the winter but still comfortable nonethe less. How much time do you spend in the room when the temperatures are hitting 40 degrees? They are air conditioned anyway, which is quite a welcome relief sometimes. We met many older single people there who made friends very quickly. It is a very friendly, laid back hotel and you will feel completely rested at the end of your holiday

This was our fith visit to the the Rey Don Jaime and once again it matched our expectations. The first thing that hit us on arrival was the revamped foyer, it is absolutely stunning with its nice light colours and new furniture of which is very comfortable. The reception staff are a delight always helpful and cheerful and nothing is to much trouble for them, checkin was swift and painless and we were soon in our room. The room (349) was comfortable without being luxurious and the bathroom the same. we had a seaview from the balcony and a large palm tree in front of the balcony which gave welcome shade from the blistering heat (it got in the low forties during our stay), inside the room the aircon gave blessed relief. The restaurant is nice and airy and revamped as from our last visit, the food is excellent and caters for all tastes at both breakfast and dinner. The pool area is clean and tidy and if wanting a snack at lunchtime then try the special offer, we had burger and chips plus a glass of wine at a cost of 3.50Euros. The entertainment staff work very hard both day and night and there is always something happening for adults and kids. I understand that the Rey Don Jaime are trying to get the hotel upgraded to four star status, all I can say is just give the bedrooms a little TLC and you are there with no problem at all If dear readers you have never stayed at this hotel then do not hesitate BOOK IT without delay, I guarantee you a good holiday.

"Enjoyable stay at the Rey Don Jaime"

Just returned from Santa Ponsa and would recommend this hotel and the resort.

The hotel is in a great location away from any noise but it's just a short walk to the beach or the shops and nightlife. The beach is great, in a large sheltered bay. There are water sports if you want them but they are away from the bathing area which is very calm and perfect for young kids. There are sunbeds but the beach is so big you can sit in the shade of the trees if you wish. We checked the water quality measurements on the board adjacent to the beach and they were excellent. We took our own brollies and sat near to the water, there's plenty of room for everyone even in high season. Take a fold up cool bag with you and you can pop over the road to the supermarket at lunchtime and get your water (and beer!). It's cheaper than the shop by the hotel. We alternated daily between the beach and the hotel pool which is pretty good. The sun catches most of the pool area all day but there are brollies and trees to shelter under. Although it's not supposed to be allowed sunbeds are reserved with towels. As long as you're down by about 9.15 you should be ok (you can't leave it much later anyway if you want time for your breakfast - 10.00 finish).

Santa Ponsa isn't huge but there's enough for everyone. Quieter restaurants/bars etc right through to clubs and disco pubs. We like a bit of entertainment and the best place for that was Bar Code 7 (across the bridge from the hotel and underneath the Dubliner). Tribute acts - all pretty good but the Drifters (supposedly with a 'real' ex Drifter) were great. They tended to come on around 11.30-12.00 so spend the evening listening to live music in one of the many Irish Bars or take a stroll up to the square which has live music every night but starting at a more family friendly time. (One point to note - stick to the Irish bars on or near the main road(like Sean's Place or Dirty Nellies). I know the English aren't at the top of their favourites list but it's generally good natured abroad. We ventured into a bar a bit further down the alley between Seans' Place and dirty nellies that had a good trio playing but the music got more republican than usual and to my dismay they were cheering for the IRA as the night went on - pretty sad really as many of these were teenagers and there just happened to be a bomb down the road in Palma Nova.)

The entertainment facilities are really good in the hotel - indoor lounge/stage, pub but most of the activity at night was at the outdoor stage and bar area which was very good. Some tribute acts (Beatles were excellent) some provided by the entertainment team. Sometimes difficult to get a drink from a waiter but you can go direct to the bar. There are games during the daytime for young kids through to adults and the entertainers are good (Ollie and Max).

The buffet food was good - breakfast and evening. There was always a good selection of hot/cold/carvery/speciality etc and it tasted fine to me. I don't think there was anything I didn't like. Oh there's also a kids selection to fall back on which had burgers, beans, fishfingers etc.

The rooms were pretty much what you'd expect. We had three beds, not loads of room but enough. Again, like most other hotels the walls aren't the best for soundproofing but nothing to worry about unless there's a party next door. The shower was in the bath but very good. Rooms were cleaned every day.

The hotel in general is very clean and well looked after. We stayed at the start of the kids summer break and most of the people staying were English/Irish. I did get some mossie bites at the start of the hol sitting on the wall outside the front doors.

We enjoyed the hotel and the resort and would recommend to anyone.

Very popular with returning guests, 95% English when we stayed. Drinks in hotel very expensive, snacks at lunchtime very reasonable. Found food pretty average, generally something to find edible. Entertainment staff very hardworking. Rooms also average. Spotlessly clean in all areas. A reasonable 3 star hotel, close to a lovely beach 150 metres away.

Just had 2 weeks at this hotel, 18th Oct - 1st Nov, and loved it. We took our sons, their partners and our 2 year old grandson on family holiday to celebrate our 60th birthdays. The staff - reception, bar staff, entertainment team, waitresses etc were great, so friendly and welcoming, especially to our young grandson. Rooms were clean and spacious with good views of sea and bay. Lots of Spanish staying there which we liked. Outdoor pool area good with lots of sunbeds and bar to sit and have a drink. We did encounter mosquitos and the sound proofing of rooms is poor but this wasn't a huge problem. Santa Ponsa is a lovely resort, beautiful beach and lots of friendly shops and cafes. This was our first visit to this part of the island and it was decidedly warmer than our visit last year to the east coast!! Sea was great for swimming, but unfortunately they took the pontoon away at the end of our first week, something our sons had enjoyed swimming out to, and the mini hurricane on Weds 29th put an end to the beach sunbeds etc. Good bus service to Palma and local areas. Recommend catching the bus into Palma and then the train to Soller - really good day out. Would also recommend walk around to little beach and then on to the marina. Thanks Rey Don Jaime for a great holiday, for the friendliness of the staff, especially Natalia, Max and Ian and also for the birthday champagne. We all had a holiday to remember and hope to see you again next year. The Hilliards

After reading many reviews on this hotel i was unsure but i must say i really enjoyed it and i will be going back and i would recommending it to friends. I went with my partner (30) and our 7 months old baby. The location of the hotel was great, a few steps away from the beach. Theres are plenty of shops near by, Mc donalds across the Road. Nice Irish bars near by. Plenty of places to eat. The hotel, the staff were freindly, the reps were great. The rooms were cleaned every day. The rooms are ok. You can hire fridge, kettle etc. The pool is nice and clean with a little baby area. Even though my child were to young to join in I thought the reps looked after the kids well around the pool during the day keeping them entertain plus keeping the adults entertain with pool, darts and other games. We never had a problem getting a sun bed. The hotel entertainment every night they had a kids disco then it was quiz , bingo, then a show, which all the kids seemed to love sitting in front of the stage and for the later drinkers you could move indoors to the bar for more drinking and quizzes till about three ish. We had no problem with the food. Breakfast was fine. The evening meal there is plenty of choice. During the day the pool bar serves food. I really enjoyed this holiday and the hotel, I met many people at the hotel who said the same and quite a few people who had been to the hotel before.

"Great stay at the Rey Don Jaime"

My husband, myself and our 20 month old daughter recently stayed at the Rey Don Jaime and were really pleased with all aspects of our stay. We booked the holiday through Thomsons and were told it was a 3 star hotel, but in all honesty we favourably compared it to 4 star hotels in which we have stayed in the past. It was centrally located, very clean and we found all the staff to be extremely helpful and friendly. If we returned to this resort we would definitely have another stay at the Rey Don Jaime.

This hotel is an All Inclusive hotel situated 5 minutes away from the bars and clubs of Santa Ponsa. It is a 1 minute walk to McDonalds on the corner, cross the road and your on the extremely clean and georgoeus beach. Only downfall was there is a sewage opposite and it stank!

The hotel was in a great location, has extra friendly staff who would bend over backwards to help you. The food was basic but good and varied every few nights. Rooms were spacious, clean and basic. We had a family room, which consisted of 2double beds, one in a corner of the room that had a wall built around it, which made it more private, 1 single bed and a sofa bed. There was the couch, bathroom that was very spacious and a wardrobe. All in all very happy with this room.

Santa Ponsa was a beautiful town, had many shops, pubs, bars, clubs, full of the irish which made my holiday as I love their accents.

I would recommend this to anyone as it is such a family friendly place.

This hotel was great with the exception of the spanish pensioners, it was their last free weeks oliday and they came first, they had all the best seats in the restaurant then tried to put the kids out of chairs in the cabaret bar even though we had bought rounds of drinks and the didn't buy so much as a coke, they were very rude and aggressive even with the children. The hotel was okay apart from this, the food was lovely and very varied every night.

The Hotel itself was brilliant very well situated clean, the restaurant was really outstanding, we arrived late in the night and even had something to eat first time that has ever happened. The entertainment was first class and worth staying to watch, the only drawback that this Hotel had was that the prices on the drinks were very high and put a lot of people off staying to long, if they had been more competitve I think they would have had a lot more trade in the nights especially as there was a lot of entertainment on, they catered for everyone. All in all a place to return to as it was of a High standard and friendly.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The rooms were more than adequate, although we couldn’t lock our balcony door. There were no buildings over five floors high surrounding the hotel to impair any views from any of the rooms. The food was very good but when the restaurant was busy it could become a bit frustrating getting to the food with bodies scampering all over the place. The pool was of a good size overseen by a lifeguard most of the day. The activities/entertainment was very good throughout the day. We were told by a hotel regular that the outdoor stage/canopy was new this year. If you like salted peanuts then you’re in for a treat as there are big jars of them on the bars free for all. Our only gripes is that we had to have our room access card reprogrammed three times, only on the third time were we advised not to keep it near a mobile phone as this could wipe out the cards memory. The sink in the en suite also took ages to drain away and reception charged 50 cents more for newspapers (newsagents two minutes walk away).

It was only a ten minute walk to the lovely sandy beach. Remember to take bits of bread to feed the wild parakeets that nest in the trees near the promenade (you’ll hear them before you see them). There is a great children’s play area on the far left hand side of the beach.

There wasn’t much for children to do outside the hotel evenings except for Berties and the square. The square was slightly disappointing as it was smaller than expected and not really a square but still worth a visit.
