"Club Pionero"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Right in the heart of the seaside town of Santa Ponsa, this hotel has got everything on its doorstep. Forget tracking down bus stops and hunting for cabs - the beach, bars, restaurants and shops are all within flip-flopping distance. But this place has got more than just location on its side - there’s the actual hotel to consider, too. Star billing goes to its impressive entertainment menu. You’ve got a selection of daytime activities like water polo, archery and volleyball, while live shows pick up the baton in the evening. Kids aren’t left out either - they get their own playroom, and kids aged five and over can join in the fun at the hotel’s hobby club. Then there’s the swimming pool to consider. It’s a big rectangular number with a kids’ section set into a good-sized sun terrace. And there are plenty of sunbeds and thatched parasols out here, too. Step inside, meanwhile, and you’ll find the bedrooms. They’re light, spacious and simply styled with whitewashed walls and light wood furniture. What’s more, they all come with private balconies.

"Excellent holiday"
Overall Hotel Rating:
My partner and I really enoyed our stay here, and apart from a few minor niggles it's hard to pick fault with the place. Our room was very clean on arrival, clean towels and bedding. The air con wasn;t working on the first night, but as soon as we complained this was fixed very quickly. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom is very big! The pool and ourside areas are very well kept. We spent a lot of time in the pool as the weather was great. The hotel food was better than most we have sampled, especially for all inclusive. The deserts in particular were excellent, we had a few too many I think! All in all, great place to stay.

"Fantastic holiday!"
Overall Hotel Rating:
The hotel was absolutely spotless inside, the rooms were cleaned every single day, a huge variety of very good food, selection was brilliant, pools were quite small and cramped around the poolside so we spent our days at the beach which is a 2 minute walk away, nightly entertainment was mostly professionals so very good, great little kids disco every night where children were encouraged to join in, range of childrens activities around the pool. Only negative is the walls in the hotel rooms are exceptionally thin so you can hear people even cough in the adjoining room to your own! Was very annoying. But would definitely return! Would recommend it for both families and couples.

"Wonderful time had by all"
Overall Hotel Rating:
The rooms are quite basic and really a little cramped with three beds in. Although as the hotel it's self and it's facilities are so good we hardly sent any time in it. The baby pool was wonderful for my little one, and the rest of us enjoyed the two large pools, and pool bar of course. Food and drink were availible more than anyone could ever need and the variety was good although on the uffet side as you would expect with all inclusive. All in all very happy and would go back.

"Don't bother!!"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Stayed here for 1 week with my husband and children aged 9 and 5 in September 2009 . Food was horrible, staff in restaurant were rude. Although we stayed all inclusive we had to dine out twice. The first time because there was nothing suitable to eat for our kids, the second time we came down at 8.30pm (restaurant serves dinner til 9.30pm) and there were no tables clean to sit at. My husband asked a waitress for a table for 4, she quickly glanced round the room before shrugging her shoulders and walking off! We then stormed out of the restaurant and had dinner elsewhere. If you are Italian or Spanish then you're fine and can get served at the pool bar / inside bar no problem. Myself and my daughter on a couple of occasions waited to be served at the pool bar and the spanish bar person completely ignored us and went to the next person in the queue who happened to be Spanish. Honestly this Woman in question if she smiled her face would crack! Rooms were lovely, comfortable and clean, hotel entertainment wasn't that good, but mini disco for kids was ok. We have been all inclusive before staying here and we loved it. So we booked here with high hopes which were dashed quickly. We would never stay here again even if it was free!!
"Pionero/Santa Ponsa Park"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Well located Hotel. Thoroughly enjoyed the holiday, would say that we couldn't always get sunbeds around the pool, even with our 15 month old Daughter waking us up early! So we decided to go to the beach - not ideal when your all inclusive, however it worked out better for us with a small child. We never experienced the entertainment on a night, as we were told as there were only one waiter at the bar expect to wait 30 mins for your drinks! So we headed out to the local bars and the Square for their intertainment. The Food was nice and the rooms were cleaned daily and bedding changed every other day

"santa ponsa park"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Just great, all round excellent, no bad points to talk about. I have done lots of holidays and just can't fault this one. Rooms were clean and in good order, as was the hotel. Food was of such a good standard, anything but chips chips chips, but chips if thats what floats your boat. Excellent choice every night and day for that matter. Staff all helpful and would go out of there way to help you. Pools were nice and clean. A great beach only a 3 min stroll, that was clean, a gentle slope into the sea that was really nice. A good amount of hard working staff on the bars and table cearing. ( you may have to wait a few mins at peak times, show me a bar where you don't) 100% happy with this one (I don't ever say that)
"Lovely break"
Overall Hotel Rating:
The hotel is excellently situated near the beach in a quiet residential area. It is only a short walk from bars restaurants and shops and makes for an ideal base for a relaxing break.

"Hotel Pionero"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Just got back from a two week holiday at the Hotel Pionero, Santa Ponsa. The hotel itself is okay, although the rooms are very small and the views are only of the back of another hotel or an apartment block on the other. Saying that, it is ideally situated for the beach, a quick 5 min walk away, and the main road with all the shops, bars etc. One word of warning, the food!!! Breakfast was fine, bacon, eggs, sausage etc, and the usual meats, cheese rolls, croissants. The evening meals were absolutely appalling! Some nights there were no vegetables whatsoever, it was chips every night, there was always a roast being carved by the chef but only once was there gravy to go with it!! Other than the food the hotel itself was okay, but you'd no chance of getting a sun lounger unless you were up before 7am, and most of the ones taken were empty all day with just towels on them, people going off for most of the day then coming back to lounge around mid-afternoon. I would not go back to this hotel, although the resort of Santa Ponsa is absolutely fantastic. This is my second visit to Santa Ponsa, my first being 2008. I wish I had stayed at the same hotel as last year.

"Relaxing Short Break"
Overall Hotel Rating:
The hotel is well situated, close to the beach and a local supermarket etc. Has a decent size pool which was so hot it was like getting into a bath, but sadly not enough sunbeds for the amount of guests in the hotel and the usual getting up and leaving a towel on a bed was in place. The hotel was fairly quiet considering the time of year which was a pleasant surprise. The Buffet food selection was varied and of good quality, smoked salmon, langoustines, lovely desserts and great salads. The rooms were cleaned well and the linen changed frequently. The Pionero Hotel is linked to the Santa Ponsa Park next door and guests can use the facilities in both hotels. The Santa Ponsa Park guests are on an all inclusove basis, need I say more. The Hotel Pionero has a childrens club which we did not use but looked good. The entertainment during the day was the usual, archery, water polo, football, darts and some kids activities. The evening entertainment was ok, but not very inspiring, but in fairness the entertainment team did their best.
Drinks at the pool served in plastic which for health and safety a good idea, cocktails and drinks in evening served in glasses. Cocktails good and drinks overall good.
A mixture of nationalities in the hotel from all over Europe.

"Not to Bad"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Not to bad a hotel, nice location, you had to be down before 8am to get a sun bed, restruant staff not so friendly, head waiter lookeed to have an attitude problem, staff very slow sometimes clearing tables especially at breakfast. Food was okay my teenage daughter actually ate well all week, rooms basic but kept clean with linen changed twice weekly and towels daily, entertainment not up to much but plenty near by. Overall not to bad a hotel, reception staff friendly and helpfull, would return.

"hotel pionero"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We were worried after reading the reviews about going on this holiday, but i can honestly say it was the best holiday i have ever been on. The hotel itself is lovely, clean and friendly. The entertainment was brill day and night. The food was good and the rooms were lovely. The entertainers were fantastic. I went with my partner and we are both under the age of 21, and we made lots of friends that were families and young couples too. the aircraft noise wasnt bad at all, i enjoyed watching them go over when i was sun bathing and at night we never heard a thing. If you have booked to go next year you will love it, dont listen to the bad reports. We cant wait for our next visit next year!

"H. Pionero.. or is it Santa Ponsa Park?"
Overall Hotel Rating:
An excellently located hotel - in the centre of the resort, a couple of minutes walk to the beach, about 5 minutes walk to the bar strip and a similar distance in the other direction to the main bus stop - which is great if you're not planning on hiring a car and still want to explore a bit. The view from the room left something to be desired (we looked straight onto the back of the neighbouring hotel) but otherwise the room was good; clean, tidy and, whilst a little on the basic side, everything worked.
The pool area was nice and the pool clean (and warm!) though is really a bit small for the size of the hotel, with a seriously insufficient number of sunbeds. But with the beach just down the road this wasn't so much of a problem as it might've been - the beach, whislt not that long, was wide enough to offer plently of space to spread out.
We stayed half-board and would recommend it to others. The food was good and there was a decent selection each night - we didn't notice any repetition of the menu though only stayed a week. We found the cost of eating out elsewhere in the resort to be similar to going out at home - and not something you'd want to pay every night of a holiday (this is probably the result of the rather poor exchange rate at the moment as much as anything else).
Entertainment in the hotel seemed uninspired but we didn't really expect anything else and went elsewhere most evenings. The staff at the desk were fairly efficient, if rather brusque. There was some confusion as to which 'hotel' we were staying at - whilst Hotel Pionero and Hotel Santa Ponsa Park go by different names, they are essentially one hotel with two reception desks - and woe betide any who aren't sure which one they're booked into! We were under the impression we had booked Santa Ponsa Park, but when the transfer dropped us off at Pionero, we asked tentatively for our rooms at the desk and were rewarded with a foul look, a minute of muttered spanish followed by a somewhat begrudging handover of keys.
But all in all we were pleased with the hotel; though used it mainly as a base to go back to for eating, washing and sleeping.
