We are a couple in our mid 40s so theres still life in us lol, loved the location of this hotel,40 yards from beach and also a parrot collony, the hotel staff couldnt do enough for you,Peter the barman is a wealth of information and he doesnt mind taking time out to tell you directions or about whats going on in the local area,he really like his job,the only little down side to this hotel is that the food was great but not alot to choose from, but it if ever go back to santa ponza id go to this hotel again, night life is about 100 yards away up the road which is far enough away so you can get a good nights sleep, boat ride is a must at 8euro for 2 hours seeing all the big houses built into the hillsides is fantastic and the water is just cystal clear, all in all we had a fab time and the weather was great,we went June 21st- 28th 2010.

Hotel Plaza is a friendly and welcoming hotel, offering the best services for an establishment of its category and is situated in the cosmopolitan area of Santa Ponsa. Staff are friendly and are very helpful. All rooms at the hotel offer an en suite bathroom, a telephone, safe and a balcony. The hotel cleanliness was very good, bed linen was changed every other and towels everyday. Location of the hotel was perfect, beach across the road and with bus stop and taxi rank right outside hotel...........perfect

We are a family of four just back from a week in Santa Ponsa.

We stayed at the Plaza Santa Ponsa and to be honest I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone over 35 especially with a family.

Best thing I can say about this hotel was that it was clean with a daily maid service who happily changed bedding and supplied fresh towels every day.

The facilities were 'BASIC' with (in our experience) smallish rooms with a place to hang your clothes and a very small toilet/washbasin and shower facility.

NO FRIDGE or tea/coffee making facilities which was a bit of a pain especially when you tried to keep your bottles/cans of juice, etc cold.

The ants could be a bit of a problem so be warned if you spill juice clean it up IMMEDIATELY or you'll be sorry!

We had two rooms one which was quite brightly decorated and a view of the 'small dull as dishwater' pool and one which wasn't so brightly decorated and was on the side of the hotel with a view of a Back Alley of a restaurant. A Junk Yard would probably sum it up..........disappointing!

Other rooms available had views to the front of the hotel where the Taxi Rank and Bus Stops were situated. We never heard anyone complain about the noise but apparently it could be a bit noisey with the talk of the taxi drivers, etc.

The pool area was 'Poor' and not exactly 100% clean and had NO FACILITIES whatsover!
Not sure when it opened but it closed at 7pm/8pm in the eveing so that the staff could clean the pool with the required chemicals to make it usable the following day.

The area was not lit at night and had no bar, entertainment etc at any time of the day.

If you wanted a drink you had to make sure you had it with you or go out to the nearest shop.

The small bar in the foyer of the hotel opened sometime in the morning until 1am or longer if there was a requirement. Bar staff were helpful, chatty and friendly.

There was nothing in the way of 'in-house' entertainment as they felt that as the hotel was in such a good position to the beach, shops, bars, etc then there was no need for them to supply any more.

The hotel fell very far short of our expectations and also as per the description in the current brochure.

We had an idea that it would be basic rooms but we did expect to be able to order food or hot drinks at any time of the day or night with it being a hotel, etc.....not so!

The restaurant opened in the morning between 0800hrs - 1000hrs and served the same food every morning. A valiant attempt at bacon, sausage and eggs, etc. The evening sitting was from 1830hrs until 2100hrs and again very similar food every day ranging from soup, salads, chicken, pasta, rice, etc.

Not great if you're a steak and two veg type of eater but edible none the less!

The male waiting staff were 'lack lustre' at best and couldn't manage a friendly smile or idle chit chat. The female staff were better and smiled at least!

Tea, Coffee and Orange were available with breakfast but you had to pay for all beverages at the evening meal. Could work out quite costly depending on the size of your family and what they wanted to drink, etc.

Some of the Reception Staff at the beginning seemed reluctant to help and assist but as the week went on and it was time for us to leave they seemed to get better at dealing with us and our few requests. The Female Receptionist was a star!

The hotel has an internet facility (One computer) which was 'Out of Order' for most of the week as was the pool table, pinball machine, etc etc.

On the positive side the location of the hotel to the beach, bars, shops etc was literally a two minute walk.

We hired a car from AVIS which was probably the best decision of the holiday and toured the Island visiting nearby resorts of Magaluf, Alcudia, Pollensa, etc etc.

Take time to attend the 'Welcome' Meeting and read the Rep's Information Folders as they give you a good idea of what Santa Ponsa and Mallorca has to offer and 'Must Sees'.

If you want to spend over £100 for an evening's entertainment then book 'The Pirate' show which is in Magaluf. There's an 'UNCUT' version for the adults.....no children allowed at this one although there is another version running for the kids. Book this through the Rep as she gets it cheaper and can get you passed the queue on the night.

Lastly watch out for the 'Timeshare' Touts as they grab your attention by asking you to complete a questionnaire of your overall opinion of the resort and it's facilities. They then go through an 'act' that you have won the equivalent to a 'Golden' ticket and then tell you that you have also won, gin or vodka oh and T shirts for the kids. All you have to do is drop the winning tickets at their office and sit through an 80 minute demonstration...........AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE and spread the word to family and friends!!

All in all a fairly enjoyable week. We would go back to Mallorca but possiby not to Santa Ponsa and definitely NOT the Plaza Santa Ponsa as there are better and nicer parts of the Island and much better hotels.

The hotel plaza, this was booked by us as a three star hotel more like a one star we was on a half board holiday in my honest opinion the food was the pits, the room was fair but was cleaned every day clean towels etc. you must be prepared to listen to taxi drivers talking very loudly outside your room till the very early hours because the taxi rank is outside the hotel and all the rooms face to the front when the taxi drivers go home the buses start you are twenty yards from the main bus stop this hotel is no use if you want rest of any kind. The best place to eat is half way up the hill called EL Ceibo the best meal you will get in this resort.

Just returned from a 2 week stay at the Plaza Hotel. It was an excellent hotel to stay in. We very much enjoyed the food served for both breakfast and dinner and ate in the hotel for the whole duration of the holiday. Some people complained about the food, they sat in their rooms eating sandwiches and greasy fish and chips whilst we had turkey breast, fresh fish, pasta etc!!!!

The restaurant staff are great and take the time to talk with you and ask about your day. Our room was immaculate, every day the towels were changed and beds made up.

The hotel is ideally situated in the resort and is next door to both taxi's and buses.

If travelling in October take a waterproof just in case as there tends to be a few showers.

Would reccomend hotel to both young and old.

We've just returned from a week staying at the Plaza hotel. We travelled with Seguro holidays - can't fault them. Julie the rep was in at the hotel everyday and was very friendly and helpful.

We found the hotel to be very clean and all the staff are friendly. Maid service everyday, with clean towels. The swimming pool at the Plaza isn't the nicest we've seen, but the hotel is directly opposite the beach - which is beautiful! As for the food, its not great either. We were half board, only because we got a good deal, but we'd recommend if your staying there not to bother paying a great deal extra for dinner! We ate out at two Chinese restaurants - one just along the road called Jade Garden, the other up the top of the resort called China Ming. Both were OK, but i'm sure you'll find better if you ask around. Theres plenty of places to eat out in the resort so you shouldn't struggle trying to find one.

The location of the hotel is ideal, its only a short walk upto the busier part of the resort. With it being the last week of season many of the bars had already closed, and the ones that were open were pretty much empty! The main bars around are Irish, but there's a fair amount of Scottish and German places too. At this time of year, most of the entertainment in the pubs had finished. There's a nice friendly bar just along from the hotel called Palmiras Pub, this is attached to the Palmira hotel, a mixture of nationalities drink in there. If you like cocktails then there's a Cocktail bar (can't remember the name)selling pretty much every cocktail you can imagine. Its on the corner of the Irish bit at the top of the resort - its next to Snoopys bar.

The hotel is next to a taxi rank and the bus stop. We got the bus into Palma for the day - would recoomend it. There's a vast amount of eating places and shops. We went on the official guided tour bus around Palma, it was only 13 euros and is a great way of getting to see the sights of Palma and also just to sit and relax whilst getting the sun! The local bus drivers are helpful, and its a cheap way to travel about. We went into Pegura as well for the day, its another nice wee resort worth visiting with a small beach.

We would definately go back to Santa Ponsa, but not at the end of season as it was too quiet for us and the weather was mixed - unfortuantely we experienced a few days of Mallorcan showers! And we would stay at the Plaza hotel again.

Hope this has been useful - enjoy your holidays!

Not a bad Hotel to stay in if you like diversity of Nationalities. Lots of Germans, Irish, Scots, Swedish and Dutch.
I have always liked Sta Ponca, in April the weather is good but you cannot swim due to the water Temperature. It was quiet and probably before the Season started but there was plenty to do.

Hotel was good apart from the smell in the Bathrooms (Stagnant water not bad Plumbing), the place has water storage problems I think.

Food was Ok, good Breakfast but the Dinner was too boring, I guess thats to be expected when catering for all types of people. The Hotel was clean and the staff were very friendly indeed.

I prefer my holidays to reflect the country I am in, nightlife for me involved going to Spanish ran Bars and Restaurants which are more friendly than the Stereotypical Irish/Brit places. Remember you are in Spain and dont drink what you drink at home, part of the problem with Tourists in general is that they are blinkered to Local Culture!

Overall very good but as I have a place in Sta Ponca I would say that!

We took B/B for a week at hotel Plaza Santa Ponsa in Sept '03.Clean hotel, we had the third floor with a good view of the bottom half of Santa Ponsa, ( the quiet end). Small pool at the back of the hotel, excellent. Shop about for the best exchange rates. I was told that using your hole in the wall card you got the best rates, at that day, but I never used mine.

If you want the pubs and clubs head to the top end, a lot of Irish Bars.
Good holiday, expensive, don't let anybody tell you that the Euro hasn't changed anything. We travelled with MY travel from Newcastle Upon Tyne, no complaints.
Hotel staff friendly, do anything to help you. Strange smell in the room when we came back in on a night. Keep the plugs in the sinks, I don't think there is any water traps on the pipe work.
Gypsy's selling cheap gold and watch's are a pain in the arse, ignore them, don't look at them, or touch the goods, they take it that you want them and only want money back off you.

Excellent Chinese 100yds from the Plaza on the corner, cheap meals etc.

Warning about booking Taxi's for the Airport, they are never on time, give yourself enough time to travel. Airport taxis agree a price before your journey, Santa Ponsa between 25-30 Euro, no more.

An Irish Lad got mugged twice, left him with his boxer shorts on nothing else, took his mobile phone and money, be warned, pickpockets as well. Watch for three or more selling anything, the seller is there to keep your attention, while the others try your pockets. Police don't want to know.

I don't know where they get driving Licence's from, lucky bags I guess, couldn't operate a pedal bin. Beware of the Zebra crossings, you have no right of way. Best bar for me, Mozart's 100 yds from the Hotel, German , excellent beer.
Apart from this an excellent holiday, had a great time. Santa Ponsa is a very clean resort, clean beaches, warm sea. Don't let this report put you off, I would go back. Plenty to do, lots of excursions to different places, pretty cheap. Marine world is excellent for the kids.

Magaluf and Palma Nova not far if you want more night life. I would probally take the kids to a different resort though, Alcudia.

When I first got booked with this Hotel, I could not find any reports on it. When I got there I was told the reason why. It was a German Hotel, private. so not many had stopped there. Don't quote me on this, it might be a load of cr*p.

Something on at a hotel just walk in, no dress code, they want your money. One complaint, they should have a small fridge in the hotel room.
Hope you find this report useful.
