"Hotel Aguamarina review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Arenal d'en Castell is a lovely resort: it's not yet too built up like the other resorts and yet there is a wide variety of restaurants and bars. There are English bars and Irish bars for people who like their home comforts as well as a lots of Spanish restaurants with beautiful views over the bay. The nearby area of Coves Noves has supermarket (with shockingly cheap alcohol!), children's playground, arcade games, bars, restaurants etc. Generally a quiet resort - mainly populated by families and couples. Not really a ";youth"; scene.
The beach is absolutely gorgeous: warm shallow water, white sands and a permanent gentle breeze so it never gets too hot. Perfect for families and because it's a bay there are no strong currents to worry about.
The hotel rooms are a bit dissapointing - they are quite small and have no air conditioning or fans. A fan can be hired from the hotel at a cost of 18euros a week and is a must for the summer months as it is absolutely stifling without one so be prepared to budget for that. At least the rooms were always clean though - cleaned every day and new towels every day.
There is evening entertainment every night from variety shows to quizzes to flamenco dancing and parrot shows at 9:30 for an hour. These are generally quite good but when they are over cheesy dance hits (think Follow The Leader and Macarena) are play at a loud volume until midnight which can be a bit annoying.
Breakfast is fantastic - meats, cheeses, bread, eggs, bacon, sausage etc every day. There is a wide variety at dinner but the quality is quite poor and I would definitely reccommend to budget for eating out a few nights.
Hiring a car is also a good option - costs about 35euros a day but makes seeing the island a possibility without having to go on the Thomas Cook (or whatever tour operator) planned excursions which are massively overpriced - for example - their trip to the Water Park cost E32 when the entrance fee is only E16 i.e. you are paying E16 per person for the coach so if there are 2or more of you it is cheaper to hire a car for the day.
All in all a great holiday in a beautiful quiet peaceful resort.

"Hotel Aguamarina review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Just got back form a week of pure relaxation was a last min hol booked the week before and had a fab time and First choice were really good i would def book with them again. Must admit when we first pulled up to the hotel i was a bit dissapionted as it didn't seem to look as nice as it had appreared in the brochure however from then on i was plesantly suprised. Our hotel room was clean and tidy and perfect size for 2 of us and nice to have made up beds everyday. We didn' have a good view but didn't expect one considering we booked last minute we were just pleased to be on holiday! The choice of swimming pools was fantasic we didn't reaslise there was more than one when we booked must have been an error in the brochure so on our way up to the hotel room on the first night max said look there is another 2 pools, then the next day we saw the seprate childs pool which was very peacefull as it was mostly couples with babies. The adult jacuzzi was also lovely and looked over on the beach. The perfect place to relax!
I agree with over reviewers the food wasn't fantastic at the hotle but it was good enough for a week and i never left the resurant unhappy.
As we were there for my birthday we left the resurant and ate out that night at a lovely resurant next to the Irsh bar, that was the most fantasic meal i have had for ages. We then proceed to the Irish bar where we had a drink fuleed night, loved being there for my birthday! We also ate out at lunch everyday and we were pleased with everywhere we went.
I think this resort depends on what you want out of a holiday all we wanted to do was sit by a pool and chill for the week and thats exactly what we did this was perfect for us as we don't do much exploring, the most we did was walk around Arenal Den Castell everyday on our quest for some luch then we ventured back to the pool again. The hotel could do with a splash of paint but other than that i was very pleased.
I enjoyed the entertainment even the slightly roppy production of Grease and Jungle rock! And even though we don't have any children i quite enjoyed the kids disco as it reminded me of when i used to do it on the Isle of Wight as a child-the music man has and always will be my favourite and im 23, i think i embaressed max by dancing along on my chair!
I would go back there in the future when i have kids as it was great for familys but for now i would prefere to go somewhere a bit more couply however as it was the 1st week of July it wasn't to busy and there were plenty of other couples about!
As for air con we didn't find it a problem maybe we had a good postioned room and it was very hot the week we were there. As for a fridge we just filled the sink up with cold water and put our bottled water in that!
In all i had a lovely holiday, ive eaten better than i have for ages, we both fell fully refreshed. The beach was lovely although we refused to spenf 18E on the beds so only went down there once spent most of our days lazing by the pools.
The only downfall i have to say is the bar staff at the hotel were a bit rude but i just thought ha ha your working im not!
And hats off to the entertainers they had some throughly awfull customs to wear but looked like they were have a great laugh!
I think in all honesly we got what we paid for. If we had spent more than we did i would have expected better but as we did it on the spur of the moment i think we came out tops and have already recommended it to some friends who have children and my parent who i think would love the island but maybe a quiter hotel!
Sorry about the long review and spelling, but i had so much to say in not a lot of time!

Overall Hotel Rating:
Arrived at the hotel early morning and our room was ready straight away, found the room spotless,we had a lovely sea view, which was beautiful. The room had air conditioning which was really needed as the weather was in the 90's.staff was very friendly and helpful.
Hotel entertainment was more than adequate as the resort area was quite quiet.we went down to the beach but the warm weather seemed to bring in lots of jellyfish which was off putting so we swam in one of the 3 swimming pools which was always very clean.Food at the hotel was good with a wide choice of menu.
we only went on one organised excursion around the island which we all found very enjoyable.Another day we caught the public bus into Mahon which was alright but we didn't allow for the bus drivers to have a siesta,so we had to wait until 5.00pm to get back to the hotel, which we found to be too long.
overall we had a very enjoyable, and relaxing week. Will definately go back to the same Hotel

Overall Hotel Rating:
Been to this resort three times, felt very safe there and the kids all loved it.
The food was not great, my daughter really fussy eater so often had to eat out of hotel.
This last time we went we were lucky enough to have a terrace with a sea view which was fantastic and it was right by the door to go to the beach so we didn't have to lug all our towels etc.. very far.My daughter was ill whilst on holiday so we went to see the Doctor, he hardly spoke English so was very difficult to communicate with him. Anyway he sent us to the hospital in Mahon. The hotel provided us with a free taxi both ways, which was great. The 'clinic' we were taken to turned out to be a private clinic so you're E111 IS NO GOOD there, beware of that as they tried to charge me. They took all my insurance details and we thought that was it. Anyway we received a rather nasty letter from the clinic a few months later stating we had to pay this fee, fortunately my insurance did cover it , so all was well.
Entertainement ok, got on well with Victor, kept in touch with him and he came to stay with me in England, but seems he keeps in touch with all the ladies young or old, but obviously very sexy and fit!!!Young girls beware!!! My daughter adored him so was nice for him to come here and stay. Mini disco great for kids and Patrick did myself and friend a CD which I still have to endure now!!!!
The hotel was clean and the maids very considerate, always cleaning, if we were in our rooms they left us alone but gave us clean towels.
Not much in the actual resort, there's the Bouncy Castle a short walk away which the kids loved and very cheap.
The hotel drinks are extorsionate, so we bought bottles at supermarket and drunk them, much cheaper!!
Beech beautiful, but sunbeds and umbrella very expensive. The year before last I went with my Mum who had a sunbed but did not want an umbrella. The guy got very nasty with her as she refused to pay for the umbrella, he nearly threw her off the sunbed. She didn't give in and eventually he gave in, result!!!But overall we have been three times, met some fantastic people who I still am in contact with.
The entertainment team from last year have all quit, they did make our holiday, especially Victor and Warren, so go and have a lovely time x

Great Holiday, this was our first visit to Menorca. Hotel, accomodation, food were great. We did need to hire a fan. Andy First Choice rep, gave us lots of tips, always around to help - Thursday Night Take Away was a good night out.We hired a car for the week, which was well worth it as we were able to explore the island.
We had a pool view, plus we could also sea the sea. Rooms were cleaned everyday, maids very helpful.
Will be visiting again. Had a lovely relaxing very hot holiday.

"Hotel Aguamarina review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We booked the hotel last minute and after reading the other reviews were slightly worried!
We had a fantastic holiday - we always do. There are negatives to this hotel and accommodation but they didn't stop us having a great time.
We stayed in Block B. We hired a fan (15 euros + 15 euros deposit) but found we didn't need it while we were sleeping as there was no humidity. The room was very small. We coped by putting some of the furniture on the balcony. We had three beds in a row and a cot at the foot of the beds!
Having a 10mth old we needed a fridge which we hired for 16 euros - installed in our room immediately. The biggest problem was not only space but lack of electric sockets - none in the bathroom and only 2 in the bedroom. Also, I did wonder how the fridge worked when we left the room and removed the key which activates the electricity?!!!
The room was cleaned every day - ok, although when we moved the furniture to accommodate us all we discovered where the dirt was hiding! We always had plenty of towels and the staff were very obliging with any requests (I even broke my keycard which they immediately replaced).
The food was ok (we never expect to eat as well as we do at home). I did have a problem feeding my 10mth old as there was usually only one vegetable available but my 3 yr old loved the soup and pasta.
Breakfast was continental and cooked - fruit, yoghurt, pastries and cereal.
Dinner - Two types of meat were offered carved or in a sauce/stew. 1 type of Fish. Always pasta with a sauce. French bread and rolls in abundance (a little hard but ok). Salads were good but basic. Desserts - ice-cream, mousse, fruit, cakes.
Plenty of available tables (8-9pm busiest times). Lots of highchairs.
The supermarket at the hotel was well stocked but pricey compared to the one in Coves Noves (5 mins walk). We bought lunch every day from Coves Noves supermarket. They have lovely fresh baguettes, pate, cheese, salad, fruits. All the main cereals too. Small tip - borrow plates and cutlery from the dining room for your lunch. Lunch served in the hotel snack bar was nice but very pricey!
Drinks - about the same as here although we bought some water one evening (5 small bottles) which set us back 8.5 euros (the hotel supermarket charges .60 euros for a big bottle!
The big screen in one of the bars served all the sports fanatics well - rugby, cricket, Grand Prix, football etc. and in the evenings showed films (e.g. Madagascar).
We've seen many Anamacion teams - these were the worst but everyone seemed to be having a good time! We had two tribute acts - Robbie Williams and the Drifters who were brilliant. There are so many areas to sit and relax and have a drink or watch the sun go down - you don't have to watch the entertainment.
The hotel grounds were vast. Four different pools. No fights for sunbeds although umbrellas were scarce - you can buy them for 6 euros at the supermarket. The beach was spotless. 18 euros for 2 sunbeds and a paraso - we opted to lay on the sand!! The sea was clear and calm until the wind got up a bit - this also produced an abundance of jelly fish!
The train ride to Macaret was expensive but the children loved it. The beach when you arrived was lovely but very small! Nothing really to do when you got there.
We found the buses were great and ran on time. We had a fantastic meal in Mahon harbour.
There were a few bars in each direction of the hotel and a cashpoint nearby opposite the Irish Bar.
We love Menorca because of our 2 small children. Visit Arenal and Menorca if you want a quiet holiday with beautiful clean beaches and friendly natives. Hiring a car is recommended.

"Hotel Aguamarina review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
i was reading reviews about my next holiday so i thought i would write a reveiw of my last holiday in Menorca.
We went half board the food was fine but it wasnt labled very well 1day i fancied the onion rings bit in to them and they wernt onion i went and asked the chef what was in them he said it was squid they were still nice though.
our room was basic we had 4beds a bathroom and a tv our view from the balcony was terrible ther was a big palm tree right in front of us. The pools were quite deep i think they should consider making a kids pool!! there was a tennis court, basketball court, voleyball and my favourite the football pitch. The shows at night were fantastic especially grease.
The hotel was in the middle of knowhere but the beach was lovely our best day at the beach was on the peddal boats it was great the kids were jumpin off in the middle of the sea they really enjoyed it.
i would go back to menorca but would think about goin in about 10years as it is still developing.

Overall Hotel Rating:
If you are looking for a quiet holiday, then this is the place for you. Dont get me wrong the hotel had various entertainment programmes going on which kept our daughter happy both day and night, however if you like to get away from the hotel at night then there's not much to do. We found a good Irish bar about 10 minutes wals from the hotel which was really good, but tend to get very busy as this was the only loudish bar.
The hotel rooms were very basic, but clean, however they were too hot as they didn't have any air conditioning which was a nightmare on the first night. We did find a shop right next to the hotel that hired out fans which was a blessing as we could not have coped without it, but be warned he is quite expensive. He also hired out parasols as none are provided by the hotel, however dont hire one as they cost buttons to buy in the local supermarket. Dont buy anything from the supermarket that is on site as if you walk less than 5 minutes down the road everything is half the price.
The food was ok with plenty of choice and certainly kept my fussy 7 year old daughter happy. The water park is a must it was brilliant we all had a fantastic time there with lots to do for the kids. Entertainment at night was quite good with some really good acts on show, certainly better than some of the hotels that we have stayed in the past.
Arenell has some of the most beautiful beaches i have seen and the water was really clear and safe. All in all we had a brilliant holiday and would certainly recommend this as a good family orientated holiday as long as you like it quiet.

The facilities in this hotel are excellent for all age groups! There are activtites for children up to 12 and excellent teenage activites for age 13-17. Activites include : cocktail games, sjoelbak, mini golf, darts etc etc! Victor and Warren from the animation team are fantastic and good lookin too!!
Also many acitivites for adults.Food is ok but could be better, Went half board, dinners were quite good, breakfast OK.
Evening entertainment is great too with Victor starring as well!!
Room facilities were good but no air conditioning.
The resort is quite small but there are a few bars down the road and an irish bar. A few shops but get a bus into Mahon, quite cheap.
We went on the eastern promise tour and it was excellent in cliding: fashion show, caves, shoppin gin Mahon, harbour cruise etc!Overall i recommend this hotel for families of ALL ages!!

Overall Hotel Rating:
Arrived at hotel after 11pm and discovered the hotel had laid on a buffet for us as we had misses dinner time. The hotel staff were all very helpful no problem was too trivial. I would recommend this hotel and location to any family with younger kids. It was very helpful hiring a car for a few days, but i wouldnt hire it from the hotel if you walk down to the supermarket there is one there called MIRAMAR half the price of avis and better 2,3, and 4 day packages.
Do take a trip to Cuitadela it is beautiful at night and loads of restaurants at the harbour .

Overall Hotel Rating:
All of us absolutly fell in love with this resort, as it is so beautiful and relaxing.
There is something to do for all ages, we were never bored once. This was our second return to this gorgeous resort, and we were very lucky to get a sea view as we asked. We never saw the youngest of our party, as he made friends straight away, and participated in the range of activities there were. As for the others we sunbathed or went down to the beach most of the time. However, if thats not your thing, we could take out a pedalo (extremely fun, with a slide on the back) or go to Mahon for the day. Also there are a variety of activities for adults also.
Night time entertainment is good, and the entertainers were really friendly, and worked extremely hard, all day to make our stay enjoyable. However if you dont fancy staying in the hotel at night for the shows, or dancing after, take a stroll out of the hotel and down to the Irish Bar, about 5 minutes walk away. This was very entertaining in the evening, and be sure to catch George, when he is entertaining everyone by singing Irish and Scottish folk songs and playing his guitar. However try to get ther around 9, as seats in the pub go quickly, however seats are put up outside (which in our opinion was just as nice, if not better!)
I think that this hotel is a very wise choice. What more could you ask for in a holiday?
"Hotel Aguamarina review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Great room with sea view cleaned every day. Food excellent - always something Max would eat, always hot and fairly varied.
Great safe beach - Max was in his depth for a long way as it shelved so gently - buy an umbrella on day one and give it away to a needy family at the end of your hols.
Hire a car from Angela at Mirimar - cheapest locally and ours was very reliable.
I would NOT go to this hotel in July or August. We went late June and it was getting very hot at night. Go somewhere with air conditioning instead.I was a bit concerned as we booked before we found this website and read the reviews but we had a fantastic holiday and would go back again

Overall Hotel Rating:
This has been the second time i have been here now and had enjoyed it both times.
last year i went for 2 weeks which was great cos i learnt loads of different dances and activities which made it even better when i went there again.Going back this year for only 1 week but weather wise was much better cos i got quite tanned. But the beach was gorgeous and the water was warmer. The food was a bit better than last year. And my room was amazing which was sea view.
The entertainment was excellent especially westlife tribute band and i enjoyed the karaoke (bein a karaoke compere myself) Last year i got to know the Entertainers and only went back there this year to see them again and was dissapointed to know that Warren and Victor were quitting. but me and Warren are quite good friends and keep in contact alot.
This year i decided that i would get up on the stage and do the dances with the entertainers which was fun. And i also met a nice guy out there. I was gonna go back again next year but i've changed my mind cos warren and victor won't be there and those two are what made my holiday the best as they both taught me so much and are fantastic guys who are really friendly to be with. I will miss Isabell, petra, xino and gemma and wish them well for the future.

Overall Hotel Rating:
hotel was very clean, the staff tremendous and helpful, the lunches at the hotel were good especially the steak, the irish bar is a must, one complaint there are no activities for teenagers above 14-17 but they made friends very easy with the others of their ages so it wasnt a wasted holiday, we visited el torro the highest mountain which is home to a monestary which was quite quaint, and mahon, and cuitadella and the caves of xori, there are plenty of beaches so you dont have to stay at the same one we recommend to hire a car for 100 euros for the week.
all in all we had a great family holiday thanks to all the staff at the hotel for making our holiday a good one

Overall Hotel Rating:
stayed in the hotel in may 2004, jus me n my mum! weather was great only 1 cloudy day which was great cus we jus went to sunbathe for a week! the hotel is really big and seperated into 2 buildings, we wer in the main building where reception is.
the resort is really really quiet, with only a handful or bars and shops, but the hotel is set overlooking a really nice beach which you can get to by walking down a grass ramp.
the food in the hotel is nice with a selection of food, although they kept putting veal out most nights!
the best thing about the hotel is probably the animacion team, who do all the games in the day n they do the entertainment on the night, which was always really funny!
the hotel would be boring without them!
i keep in touch with victor of the team and have been to stay with him n his family in spain.
the entertainment team have all quit so they wont be there next year :-(
