"Disappointing"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Very Basic, Bar staff rude asked to leave bar area 11pm onwards as they wanted to go home. only allowed glasses to drink out of when waiters felt like it (given cardboard cups) even though drinks were paid for as i stayed half board and not drinking round pool area. disappointing pool area one pool was shut as the water had turned green!

"Review of the hotel aguamarina"
Overall Hotel Rating:
I went to this hotel with my parents and older sister, and we all had an amazing holiday. Everywhere in the hotel was spotless, the pools where lovely, the gardens and outside space were beautiful. There was always plenty of sunbeds and spaces to put them. The rooms were quite small but very clean and comfortable. We had a view overlooking the entrance to the hotel. The restraunt was great, all the food was very tasty and well cooked, there maybe could have been a little bit more choice. The location was perfect, the hotel was just minutes to the most beautiful sandy cove. Overall we had the best time, and are already thinking about booking again for next year.

"Same old same old"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We went in June 2010 - 11 nights. Me and Mrs with kids 8 and 5. Firstly weather was rubbish for majority. cOLD WINDS IN THE EVenings, rainy for 6 of the days with unbroken sunshine only 2 days. We did all inclusive.
Hotel is just Ok. Rooms cramped, but cleaned daily. Satellite TV, which is needed with unpredictable weather. Food is very repetitive, but then again probably the norm for a 3 star. Not that great a choice for kids.
All inclusive is probably the way forward when you have kids. Unlimited drinks throughout th eday along with tubs of ice cream. For adults unlimited drinks and for beer drinkers the beer taps are self service albeit i/2 pint plastic glasses meant frequent journeys.
Entertainment was on the whole OK, though saw a coupel of really good acts - Michael Jackson tribute and also Chinese acrobats which were amazing.
The cove is stunning. The beach lovely and sandy with the sea warm. Can't fault the scenery. If you want other choices then with such a small resort this probably not for you.
On the whole if we had better weather may have looked more favourably on this holiday. Won't be back to this resort or probably Menorca as very little to do other than sight seeing.

"a wonderful holiday"
Overall Hotel Rating:
This is a very professionaly run hotel, and in a perfect location. Upon arrival the outside of the hotel looks a bit dated but inside it,s lovely. It is made up of two blocks, block a being the quietest due to the entertainment taking place around block b . Block a also has the sea views and as we wont be managing a foreign holiday for some timeto come we decided to pay more for this one and booked a sea view room. This is highly recommended if you can stretch your budget as the view of the bay is beautiful. We slept with our curtains open so we could see it during the night ,and lets face facts ,you will be wakened during the night as there appears to be about a million children at this hotel and if one cries , they all do. That is the only down point of our whole two weeks holiday, the fact there are so many children, some of which did not seem to be supervised. Apart from that, the hotel was everything we could have hoped for and more, friendly hard working and efficient staff, cleanrooms, really nice food especially the pasta dishes. There are five pools that we barely looked at as this hotel is right on the beach so between the beach and the hotels extensive grounds we had no need of the pools. We didn't have any difficulty finding sun beds and the loungers on the beach were not as expensive as some other spanish resorts.we paid five euro per sunbed per day plus five for a parasol. All in all ,we recomend this hotel to any one who doesn't mind hoards of screaming children .We thoroughly enjoyed our two weks here and would love to return soon. One last warning, this hotel does not have hairdriers in the rooms much to my wife's disapointment. We had to take the bus to mahon and buy one!

"Lovely hotel, beautiful resort"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Have just returned from a lovely 10 days at this hotel. Had read mainly favourable reviews so wasn’t unduly concerned about anything. Hotel is clean and modern inside and welcoming. A comment made by several reviewers was the cost of drinks in the bar and for that reason we decided before going that we would update to AI. AI per day for adults was 18 Euros which was excellent VFM as I have to agree the drinks were expensive i.e 1.95E for a soft drink, 3.40E for a pint and approx 5E for a mixer drink. AI also meant who got lunch included. Breakfast has a huge choice, full English, Croissants, Cereals, Fresh Fruit, Yoghurts etc. basically something to suit everyone. Lunch and Dinner was buffet style with a good selection of salads, veg, meat & fish etc. Carvery of different meat every day. I read comments that the food was often cold, I did not find this to be the case and if I had there was a microwave to pop it into. As not all guests were AI you had to queue for drinks in the restaurant, as opposed to self serve. Few moans that the rooms in B block (where we were) were small, but personally I look for 3 things in a hotel room, clean sheets, clean towels and hot water and this ticked all the boxes, don’t tend to spend my holidays in the room, its just for sleeping in. Rooms were cleaned daily. Pool areas are lovely, 4 in total including a childrens pool and adults only Jacuzzi. No umbrellas around the pool but these can be purchased for approx 8 Euros in the hotel shop, or look around and most people leave them at the end of holiday along with lilo’s etc. Daytime facilities are good and most of the entertainment in the evenings is professional (Four Tops, Fake That, Abba tribute, Acrobats, Parrot shows etc) . Evening starts with mini disco at 8:30, followed by Bingo (not every night) and the main show at 10pm – 11pm. AI bar finished at 11pm but the bar stayed open until 1:30. Music stayed on until approx midnight. Safety Deposit Boxes are located in the room and cost us approx 25E for 10 days including the refundable deposit for 5E. We spoke to several people who were making their 3rd and 4th visits back to this hotel so its obviously very popular, we certainly had no complaints.

"Great Hotel, Lovely Place"
Overall Hotel Rating:
From we left home everything went fantastic, with no problems. We were delighted with the Hotel and our rooms. The food was good, with always a good selection. The rooms were cleaned daily. The staff were always very friendly. We spent a lot of time on the beach which was lovely. The grounds of the Hotel was spotless. Entertainment was good, we stayed on the Hotel grounds most evenings , and could not fault the entertainment and the bar service. There is a good bus service, so we went to Mahon and Fornells for the day. This was our second visit to this hotel and we have booked for next year A/I, with more of us going on holiday this time.

"Nice hotel, shame about the food !"
Overall Hotel Rating:
My wife and I booked a 6 day break in the Aguamarina only one week prior to leaving. As first timers to Menorca, we were unsure as to which resort or hotel to stay in, but plumped for the Aguamarina after reading the fair reviews of previous guests. On the whole the hotel is comfortable, clean and is well located in a great position only metres from a super beach. The only downside for us was the below average food. Breakfast was better than evening meals. At night there was one soup choice, repetative salads, bland, often tasteless main courses and again little variation in desserts, but this would probably suit the very young guests much better. The place is very child friendly with lot's of things going on for them and some enjoyable entertainment most evenings. For us the beach was the highlight, however the sunbeds/parasol were the most expensive I have ever seen in any of the balearics, canaries or mainland Spain(15 euros for two beds plus parasol).

"THE FOOD REALLY LETS THIS HOTEL DOWN"
Overall Hotel Rating:
This could be a good hotel to recommend to others but unfortunately their food really lets it down. the food itself was reasonable but the problem was there was a real lack of choice , the menus were very repeatitive, also the food was never hot, sometimes quite cold, i remember having something which was just replaced with a new tray, even that wasnt hot, which seems to suggest there is a delay in food coming from the kitchen. i have been to many other 3 star hotels with buffets and this one falls way short of the others. the waiting staff in the dining area were superb as were the reception staff. the rooms were very reasonable for a 3 star hotel and the maids were also good.the hotel is very family orientated and is a very friendly place. the view from the hotel of the bay is superb and a sight to die for, so beautiful.the hotel is about a 10 min walk to the few bars of the resort.the only other complaints are that the hotel has a sat tv to watch in the lounge area but it needs resetting every now and then which the bar staff dont always do thus halfway through an important england footy match the picture suddenly went and the bar staff couldnt seem to get it back on, so missed the game. if the hotel continues to have this facility then please train your staff up to operate it, reasonable request i think? the other complaint are the overpriced drinks at the hotel, 3.40 euros for a pint of the local lager? nearly 2 euros for a small coke, if you go to a bar called smithys in the resort you can get the local beer for 2 euros a pint, and coke at 1.5 euros generally around the resort, the reason i think the hotel charges so much for a its drinks is to encourage you to upgrade to all inclusive when you are there, dont do this if you want all inclusive do it when you book your holiday and save a lot of money its much cheaper this way. to buy a local lager in the dining room was 2 euros for half a pint served in bottles. the hotel didnt do any brands like guinness or any bitters, not everyone drinks lager. The evening entertainment was aimed at families and was very basic, my tip is to walk down to the bar areas and try the irish bar or go to the thomson gold hotel at the back which has a high quality of entertainment, you dont have to be staying at the hotel to enjoy their entertainment.Back to the aquamarina, The hotel sunbeds are low quality and non adjustable. The prices to rent a safe and fridge are very reasonable . Alhough i have made a many negative comments on this hotel dont be put of, but it really needs to improve its food standards before i can recommend it.

"2nd Visit - May/June 2009"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Lovely hotel - returned this May for two weeks after spending a week there in July last year. The entertainment time (Animacion) were fantastic last year - at least 10 of them but this year there is only 3 of them. Patrick, Ana and Clara are great though - loads of activities to do during the day, good entertainment at night - The Four Tops Ever and the Abba Tribute band being a particular highlight. The hotel now has a KidsWorld kids club which is split into different age groups - creche up to 36 months, 3 - 7 and 8 - 11. Our 8 year old went to a lot of the sessions with them but they only happened in the afternoon for that age group. BEWARE - you also have to pay for certain sessions - 15 euros for sessions lasting 3 hours! The Animacion team ran the kids clubs last year and were much, much better and FREE. The hotel has also brought in All Inclusive this year - we booked last September and only had the half board option which we did. All Inclusive came in February this year and has confused most of the waiters and bar staff. Also some of the All Inclusive guests were under the impression that they had priority over the half board guests when getting served at the bar and in the dining room. We enquired about upgrading to All Inclusive for our second week but it would have cost 15 euros per adult per day and 11 euros for our 8 year old which would have cost us an extra 287 euros for the week! Only block A was open this year so as they were putting guests into block B, they had to use the restaurant in block A which meant queuing for a table some evenings.
However, the good points overweigh the bad/mediocre ones. The hotel is spotless, the rooms are cleaned every day, beds changed every other day, clean towels every day if you want them. The hotel staff are friendly, courteous and can't do enough for you. There is a local bus service to various parts of the island from outside the hotel (time your return well though as don't forget that the shops shut from 1.30 till 5.00 for siesta!). The view of the horseshoe bay is second to none, beach is clean and the pedalo rides are only 8 - 10 euros (depending on whether you want a slide or not) for 1 hour. The food in the restaurant is pretty much the same each evening with variations of which cooked meats you want but there is so much of it, that there is no need to have anything twice in a fortnight of staying there.
We've never returned to any particular hotel so this was a one-off for us - probably would go back but only for a week.

"Fab family break!"
Overall Hotel Rating:
This hotel is geared up for young families/early teens. We had a family room in block B which was basic but clean with a balcony overlooking the pool (4 pools in the hotel) Good sized bathroom with shower/bath wc, bidet and basin. Bedroom had wardrobe, safe, dressing table, 2 beds and a childs camp bed. Rooms were cleaned daily. We had booked half board but we upgraded during our stay to All Inclusive which we found to be a better deal as the drinks are pricey (it is cheaper to buy a beer in the airport than the hotel! All meals are buffet style. Breakfast: a selection of cereals/fruit/bread/cakes/croissants.Butter and conserves. Hot drinks from the machines, as is fruit juice. Boiled eggs/cheese/ham. Tomatoes/beans/scrambled egg/sausages/bacon. Omelettes and fried eggs are cooked fresh.
Lunch: Cold meat/cheese/salads. Soup/bread/rolls. A few hot dishes - meatballs/chicken breast/lamb chops. Chips. Range of desserts and fruit. On the All Inclusive option drinks are included, otherwise you buy from the bar.
Dinner Soup/mussels/prawns/paella/chicken/goulash etc with rice/potatoes/chips. Breads and cheese/cold meats/salads. Desserts: icecream/jelly/mousse/cakes. Fruit. Again drinks from the bar.
The dining room (block A) is very clean and has a fab view of the bay. The waiters work very hard to clear the tables ready for the next party, sometimes taking a plate away just as you had eaten the last morsel of food from it! One waiter in particular was extremely hyper and dashed around like a mad thing, bless.
The bar has a long balcony over looking the sea, and is in shade most of the afternoon so a pleasant view while you take a break from the sun! Inside the bar is a tv and comfy settees. Very friendly bar staff, especially the one who looks like Reggie Perrin! The bar shuts at 11pm sharp (and the balcony outside lights go out then too!)
Outside courtyard, where the evening entertainment is. That is quite shady during the day too.
Four pools and a jacuzzi (adults only) plenty of sunloungers/chairs but no parasols. That was my only concern if you went in peak summer time; lack of shade.
If you go All Inclusive you also get sandwiches and cakes between 4pm - 6pm. Believe me, you really won't need these... there is so much to eat!

"brilliant"
Overall Hotel Rating:
returned from this hotel on the 22cnd of May 09 , was a bit wary after reading some reviews, all I can say , if you was disappointed you should start looking for 5 star hotels , the food was typical buffet style , all salads , cheese, meat , an cold pasta mixes , then a choice of hot dishes , and sweets , also fresh grilled stuff at the bottom of the dining room , pork chops , lamb chops , steak , fish , salmon one night ,our room was cleaned and beds changed every day , also clean towels every day , dont know if this would happen in high season , the hotel was great , but drinks are expensive , our party of 4 adults and 2 children were half board but after 3 days we upgraded to AI , it saved us a lot of money , the resort was a bit to quiet for our taste but it is a beautiful place with a nice beach and clear blue water .

"club aqua marina"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We ve stayed in this hotel twice in august 07 and aug06.We loved it the 3 pools are great for the kids and there is an adult onlt jacuzzi for some quiet time. We had two rooms ajoining and they are made up daily with fresh towels ,you can opt out if you want a lie in and just ask for towels later. The rooms are clean and of a good standard, safes in every room also. The views from the windows are breathtaking straight out over the bay. The service was second to non ,the staff are great, speak very good english and are happy to help. We stayed half board and the meals are very varied unlike other hotels, good time range also. The only thing i didn t like was the evening entertainment if thats what you can call mini disco ,bingo and caberets ,not my cup of tea but others may enjoy.
"Flies, Flies and Ants and Ants"

Problems with flies in the dining room could lead to contamination and food poisoning, so be wary of what you eat. Ants in the rooms.
