"Expected better"

I was very disappointed with my stay here & had expected a lot more from my holiday. The food in the restaurant was appalling, they had a large selection but most of this was barely edible! If it wasnt cooked properly, it was almost certainly burnt around the edges. I bet health & safety inspectors would have a field day in this kitchen! The place was full of a lot of noisy kids running about squealing at all hours of the day & night, it was hard to get much sleep! The plates in the restaurant were always dirty & looked like they had just had a quick wipe instead of actually being washed. I had a bad stomach for three days after returning home & im sure a number of people could easily have gotten food poisoning from eating at thie restaurant. The staff were not very helpful & only seemed interested when you were handing over money to them to pay for something. My room was basic & quite shabby & i would have liked to have seen it be cleaned a little more often that it had been. The night time entertainment was completely farcical & the bar only stayed open until 11:45 every night which was a bit disappointing. I would not stay here again & i wouldnt recommend anyone else staying here either.

A good hotel with friendly staff and lots to do for teens and young children. Very good kids clubs. A good location and not too far from town and on a local bus root.

Husband had food poisoning after 2 days and was confined to the room. This hotel is like butlins abroad. So many people were ill and some even ended up in hospital, while the First Choice Rep would not even recognise there was a problem. Worst Holiday ever. Husband as even off work for a week after we had returned as he was still so ill.

The hotel is spotlessly clean, if a bit dated in the rooms. The food was lovely with a good variety on offer, but all inclusive is restricted only to the hotel restaurant and bar, you are not allowed to take food out of the restaurant e.g. to the poolside which was a bit annoying if you just wanted a snack in the sun. Any snacks sold in vending machines and at the bar were expensive. However, you could pre-order a picnic the night before you need it if you plan to spend a day away from the hotel which was good. The bar closed at midnight and you are escorted through to the hotel reception to finish your drinks if you don't go straight to bed. This didn't bother us with a young child but families and couples who did want to stay up found this really annoying. The evening entertainment was alright, but mainly the animation team singing themed evenings, and only one of the three could actually sing...Overall I would recommend this hotel to young families, not to couples or families with older teenage children. Try to get a room on the 2nd floor with a terrace as the terraces on that floor are huge with great views of the cove/beach. A friend we made at the hotel was in a wheelchair and had a nightmare - couldn't get into his bathroom, only way into the restaurant was via the kitchen (which he said was spotless by the way!) not the hotel's fault, this lay with First Choice for confirming it was wheelchair friendly - just a warning.

"Happy Holiday in Cala n Blanes"

Overall Hotel Rating:

We have been to Menorca severall times, and return to Cala N Blanes because we are made genuinely welcome as a family every where we go. The place is kept spotless, the whole family is entertained, it´s safe, and the facilities are excellent. We like to get out of the Hotel and into the local bars, this year we found Foxys Bar, recently taken over by a young British couple, and we prcatically lived in there. Giles kept the kids in stitches, and made sure our glasses were never empty! They also do a fab range of Curry, for indian food lovers. Near the blue Arch, down the slope, pay them a visit, you wont regret it!

We also loved Can Moll, for Steaks and Lamb, and Maxis Bar for the most spectacular sunsets.

Ciutadella is definately worth a visit, an easy bus ride in to a beautiful old town with narrow cobbled streets, and a lovely harbour lined with bars and restaurants.

We had yet another lovely time in Cala n Blanes, and cant wait to book again...

"Family Holiday"

Overall Hotel Rating:

Very good family holiday. Good value for money. Clean which is a important fact for us as a family. The food was good something for everyone. Evening entertainment was good for the kids and OK for the adults in the evening, think you have to remember you are in Menorca not the West End. The bar closed at 12 midnight which again for a family holiday is good. This hotel is a family hotel so if you want late night drinking its not the place to go. One small down side you had to be up and down the pool by 9am to get a sunbed and shade. Could do with more shades I think but not everything is going to be perfect and the price does reflex that I think. All in all a good holiday and nice clean hotel staff worked really hard. Adam was good with the kids and he worked hard. We enjoyed this hotel and would go back again. Worth going.

The hotel is immaculately clean and tidy in all areas. There is plenty of choice with the food for all ages. Our little daughter had a fantastic time and ate many things from the menu. The staff are extremely friendly and were always willing to please. I'm sure some holiday makers may sometimes be a little grumpy if they had to work the hours some of the staff did to make sure everyone had a good time.

Ronne and Antonio on the animacion team are absolute stars and made the holiday for our liitle daughter. They work extremely long hours but always make sure the chldren have a fantastic time. The choice of drinks behind the bar is good and you don't have to queue for a very long time. The pool side beds are clean and all are in working condition. You cannot put your towels out before 9 am but this led to a fair system of queing for your beds. There was no queue jumping in the hotel so the anger management classes i paid for before departure were a waste of money.

We have just got back from a weeks holiday and on the whole we had a terrific time!!
Obviously, from the description in the brochure it was clear that the hotel catered mainly for families and this is exactly what we wanted for our first holiday abroad with our son who had his 3rd birthday while we were there.
The hotel staff and First Choice Reps were all wonderful - we could not fault the excellent service they gave us all - they really put themselves out for us. The children's reps Sunshine Sarah and Happy Hollie even made a card for our sons birthday!!

We were aware of some noise as the bar closed in the evening but nothing excessive, just people enjoying their holiday. However, it may be a little noisier in the high season.
The food did get a little repetitive but was always nicely presented and plentiful. We tried a couple of local restaurants in Cala'n Forcat which were reasonably priced and the staff all made us welcome. Cala'n Forcat was a pleasant 10 minute walk from the hotel and luckily we hired a buggy from First Choice which was great as it was brand new, only cost £12 for the week and saved the hassle of taking one on the plane.

Overall, we would definitely recommend this holiday and would happily go back again!!

having arrived at the hotel we were put into a side room A4 allthough spotlessly clean it was like a prison cell ,small dark and dingy and no balcony,we asked to be moved as it was unexceptable, only to be told nothing could be done even though we had paid all most full brocher price.

Bar and restraunt staff were sullen and didntseem at all happy in theirjobs Food was repetative so much so we had to eat out every night on our second week .as for the sun beds they were mainly very dirty and broken we complained to reps but they did not seem to careless

Entertainment did not start untill 10 oclock far to late with screaming tired children running arround 3star s was really going to far more like a 2 star this was probably the worst hotel overall i have stayed in ,in 30 years .I feel robbed of two weeks of my life and £1,350 of our hard earned money . ps the weather was fantasticly hot

Just returned from a very restful week at the Cala'n Blanes Beach Apartments and what a wonderful place! The apartments are fab and very spacious. They are pretty well kitted out - not that we cooked. There's a TV in the room with CBBC, CBeebies, Sky News etc. Our 2 girls had a ball - the swimming pool is lovely and we always got sunbeds where we wanted even at lunchtime!

We'll definitely be back. Roll on next summer!!

As other people have said the hotel was spotless, the rooms cleaned everyday and the communal areas as well.

The food was repetitive so we went out for a couple of meals which made a good change and Calan Forcat is only a pleasant 10 min walk no hills to negiotiate.

The reception staff were first class, we needed to use the local hospital whilst we were there and the staff arranged for the doctor to come in and the reception was manned for 24hrs, so I was able to get a message back to my husband from the hospital. If you do unfortunatley need the hospital, they are very clean and english is widely spoken so no worries about not been able to communicate.

Little noisy at night from the bar and the beach bar just below the hotel.

My one major critiscm is that for the size of the hotel the pool area is tiny and we never managed to get a sunbed for the whole week we were there. Maybe we brits are getting too much like the germans for bagging sunbeds.

I would definately go back to this hotel at some point in the future.

We stayed here in early June and the weather was beautiful all week.

THE STUDIOS; These four studios are separate from the family apartments and have their own pool, so are lovely and peaceful, ideal for relaxing. They are in a very quiet area, away from the hetic noise. They are are spotless and modern and have Sky TV, with BBC and ITV. The only thing I didn't like was they didn't have a separate bedroom.
There are steps down to a rocky cove, but the small beach is about 500 metres away down a slope.

THE RESORT; The studios are about ten minutes from the main area, but there is a bus to take you there and it has bars and restaurants on the way.The main area is a dream for young kids up to about 12. There are massive bouncy 'animals' everywhere, as well as adventure playgrounds and water slides. It is also peaceful enough for couples. There is a supermarket round the corner and a Chinese restaurant next door, which serves lovely food.

The beach is small and has rocky coves where children love to explore and catch the fish. The sea is beautiful aqua colours and the view is absolutely gorgeous. The only problem is the jelly fish. The guy in the supermarket told me it is because they used to have turtles which ate the jellyfish, but people stole or killed them, and now the jelly fish have take over.

Ciutadella is lovely, with ancient buildings and a harbour.
Mahon has a huge, lovely harbour , with a boat trip around the ancient sights of the harbour. We went on the 'Flavours of Mahon' trip , but wouldn't recommend it, because we paid 40 Euros and only had an hours boat trip and was trapsed about cheese, gin and leather factories. The other trip - 'Island Discovery' was fantastic. We also went to Cala Bosc - which was beautiful with a larger beach and a small harbour.

Overall, we had a fabulous relaxing holiday, in a quaint resort, in lovely studios.I would go with Style again.

Just arrived back from one of the most relaxing holidays ever taken (and have taken many). These apartments are small but spacious with an overhead fan in bedroom. Everything at the apartments you need. Eating here was excellent if you don't want to venture very far. No towels down first thing in morning, could even get beds well into the afternoon!

The beach is a stone throw away which was never over crowded, we took towels to lay on as I think beds quite pricey. Lovely for small children.

Nice but not many restaurants to eat, Smuggler's cove just off beach is excellent and also another one to recommend is L'Ancora (on right just before blue arch).

We didn't do any trips but we did take the coast road and walked into Ciutadella, which is a must, shopping is a dream here and the only place you can buy your ciggies. It's about a 45min walk, a taxi is only about £5 but well worth is.

Shows put on most nights - Mama Mia, Disney, Dancers etc. which my kids loved.

This resort is very quiet and not for the clubbers. But I recommend it and will definitely return although could get busier in July and August and apparently much hotter!!

Juat returned from a two week stay, and are we glad to be home, due to lack of sleep, the noise in this hotel is awful, you cant get to sleep until well after twelve and you are up well before eight, with all the noise from children and adults either entering or leaving there room, food in the hotel is what you would expect from all inclusive even though we have had better.
the kids club is good and happy holly and sunshine sarah do a great job with all of the children, always enthusatic whatever time of the day it might be.

Chris which is the pool attendant is great he doesnt miss a thing although he was very busy with putting on plasters ect on little ones that had fallen over. The pool area however is very busy and i would not like to be there in high season, not enough sunbeds or umberellas to go around.
No food what so ever can be taken out of the restaurant and that includes ice cream for the children, this is because of the ants so i do agree with this ruleing, but many didnt. the first choice reps were good well jill was she was a mind of information john was trying his best but it is his first season there so i suppose he has got alot to take in although he was very pleasant, the hotels animation team were great except that one left while we were there which only left one and that was ronnie he really did do his best but it was really hard work for him as there was so many children, oh bye the way he calls all the children cheeky monkeys, which is quite sweet, hats off too him as he was thrown in at the deep end.The hotel is a really old hotel and in my opinion is in need of a major revamp.

would we go back to this hotel, definatley not, even though we thought menorca is a beatiful island and will definatley return one day.
