the hotel itself was only a 10/15 min walk from the resort, which meant that you were away from any nightlife noise. The resort again had another large childrens playground which was lovely and clean and all the bars/restaurants catered for children. It was generally easy to get around with the buggy, although there were a few small slops. What was noticable, was even though it was the first week in October, a lot of bars, restaurants, and hotels were either closed of closing for the end of season.

This was our first family holiday with our 21month old and so did not quite know what to expect. The hotel did cater for kids with at least 3 playgrounds, 2 childrens clubs and a section of the swimming pool and kids disco. The whole complex was easy to get...

we were just about to go out of season so most things had shut down. a car would have been really good, we went out in one for a day and we managed to see more things. we had only come for a relax though! the beach was nice, if you're only going swimming just put your stuff on the sand. 12 euros for 2 beds we didn't really use!a great snorkeling sea! we swan with loads of fish, had to go a little further out. the restaurants in the harbor were good. we were on a budget so we had to find the deals. we found a lovely Chinese called peaking house. it was above another restaurant and looked over the harbor. it was 5.95euro for a 3 course meal. and it was stunning food!! id avoid las tapas. maybe it was because it was end of season i don't know. but we didn't feel too good after. everything was re-heated, we had the paella it was awful. it is a tapas menu so everything is small! had some lovely mussels in the restaurant next to it! and feed the fish in the harbor, they love bread! and its so therapeutic! another fantastic bar (best till last) is the McCarty's Irish bar!! fantastic people and great karaoke every night! finishes with the oki koki without fail! guy behind bar called Dermot!

This is a lovely resort for families. The marina is lovely especially at night when it is all lit up. The best restaurant by far is "El Pato". The menu is excellent as is the staff. There is a brilliant selection of Kids meals and they bring the kid's meal with your starters if you want. It is also really reasonable. There was 4 adults and a toddler in our party and for 2 starters, 4 main courses, a kids meal, 4 desserts with a jug of sangria we only paid between €80-€90. We made the mistake of going to Toro Negro Steakhouse on the 1st night and we must have waited over an hour for our meal. We only had 4 main courses with a kids pizza and drinks and our bill was over €100!! For breakfast go to La Fontana beside the bandstand at the marina they do a fantastic Full English Breakfast which includes 2 fried eggs, bacon, sausages, baked beans, mushrooms, hash brown, toast, freshly squeezed OJ and tea!! The staff are lovely and the waiter knew our order every morning!!

The Maribel shop at the marina has some lovely gifts and you could spend a fortune on kid's toys!! There is also 2 small perfume shops but because of the exchange rate it didn't work out that much cheaper. We took the train from the marina which goes to the beach and around the resort. We didn't go to the beach as my daughter took ill but it looked lovely.

I would love to go back and hopefully see more of the resort and around the island of Menorca.

Cala en Bosch harbour is a ten minute walk from the Viva Menorca, the beach about 15 minutes, probably faster for those without little kiddies. The beach is not huge, but was certainly big enough to comfortably fit everyone who was using it, it's a nice beach, and we really liked it, slightly rustic, slightly rugged, not too polished. The harbour has lots of boats all moored up and bobbing about, you can have a lovely evening in the harbour taking in the surroundings, just walking around and looking at the stalls and the shops, listening to the street musicians, while you decide which restaurant to use. When we were there there was a traditional Menorcan music and dance thing going on in the street, it was lovely. It's hustle and bustle but in the right way, great. There must be 40 restaurants (give or take) all around the harbour, mostly selling chips n burgers, chips n kebabs, chips n chips, chips n pizza, chips n chips n chips.... but there are a small few that surpass the rest, be sure to try Cafe Balear (you'll get some good Menorcan food here), Aqaurium (again some great menorcan fish dishes), and .... yes the Gran Dragon the Chinese restaurant if you get sick of chips n chips n chips. We actually found that most eating places don't do Menorcan food in Menorca, you have to look for it. We found a fantastic Menorcan restaurant called Binissues on the road to Santa Agueda sign posted 'Restaurant Museum' just as you drive out of Ferreries on the main road (some maps call it the C-721, but in Menorca it's actually sign posted as the Me-1). Binissues is a beautiful old tradittional Menorcan house serving delicious Menorcan food at about the same prices as the restaurants in the harbour.

For the last five days we hired a car, and I returned it at 9:30 am on the dot, yet the staff in the Avis office of Calan Bosch processed it at 11.23 am and charged my credit card to an additional day's rental plus insurance. I didn't find this out until I received the invoice by post to my address in England. I’m furious at this as I know I handed the keys in a full half hour before the agreed time of 10:am… So be wary.
